I'm so excited!! This is going to be one to remember you do such good work Majorlink I've been a fan since your first trilogy with The Fierce Deity Mask!!
Link, the one desperate to maintain his purpose in a world that needs him less and less. Ganondorf, the one seeking to renounce his purpose in a world that's hated him all his life. Zelda, the one determined to transcend her purpose in a world that's played her like a puppet. When you struggle to find a reason to keep fighting, courage becomes meaningless. When you cannot even control your own life, power becomes weakness. When you're prevented from acting upon what you aspire to do, wisdom becomes useless. Hero's Purpose is a story that explores the things that truly define who we are. Majorlink has done a magnificent job creating this series.
Are you a poet? You should consider it, your comment is so magnificent that it represents so much of the video itself, it's excellent, in every expression of the word, it's the best I've ever read.
Actually, the Era of the Wilds Ganondorf is so much more evil than the original that some people believe he’s completely unrelated to Demise and turned evil of his own accord.
@@ZorLink21How so, exactly? I mean it largely seemed on par with the others to me I honestly read it as a retelling of OoT coup attempt, Spoliers; him showing false fealty to get close, striking Sonia to steal her stone for power, and using said power to ascend And slight tangent; why not steal Zeldas gem as well? She was right there and seemed less prepared than Sonia. And then theres his last ditch dragon plan, which at best was just one last spiteful act. At worse looked like a gamble on his part.
@@ZorLink21 It seemed more like he was the *perfect* reincarnation of Demise. Ganondorf in name, Demise in spirit. Evil incarnate without the human sympathy seen in WW Ganondorf. Honestly, I just wish we would've seen why the Gerudo ultimately turned against him. That would've made for a good addition to the story. The whole past storyline in Tears of the Kingdom is ripe for fleshing out (Hyrule Warriors: Imprisoning War, anyone?).
@@Firestar4041 Maybe not a retelling per se. TotK does complicate the timeline quite a bit, but if we accept the concept that the story of Zelda is that of a never-ending cycle, then it was more likely an echo. Events playing out similarly throughout history, yet in different eras. In a cycle that repeats over and over, it's a given that some events would repeat themselves eventually. Take Attack on Titan for example. It was believed that Titans eliminated humanity beyond the walls of Paradis. We later discovered that wasn't true, but the Titans *did* terrorize humanity for centuries under the rule of a wicked king. The Rumbling was an event that echoed those beliefs--a "wicked man" appeared and used Titans to eradicate humanity beyond the boarders of Paradis. Different era. Different circumstance. Similar event. Thus, a cycle.
"what is your name boy", when you realise that two characters so intrinsically tied to one another barely know each other and the world hasn't let them understand one another too
and a tragic twist that in choosing to honour the one he knows is trapped alongside him, he brought forth the one word that would trigger his inner demon like no other could
@@Lonewolf-jv5yoWe don’t know much. We only really know what’s told in game. He attempted to take the Tri-Force for himself, and nearly annihilated the human race. It was to such an extent that Hylia had to take the remaining humans to the sky, while she and the remaining Surface tribes battled and eventually sealed Demise. We don’t know why he chose this, but to be fair, I don’t think you’re going to get a complex backstory from a guy literally named Demise.

I think there should be a final zelda game where you play as a new character that finds out about the curse and goes on a quest to break it for the sake of all 3 of them with demise hot on their heels
It gives Ganondorf so much more character, showing that there's another human fate behind the demon's spirit. Him searching for salvation is a very nice attempt to make him more relatable. Major Link did a very good job.
@@rayanessaidi1674 very true this series has taken words like demise and malice and twilight and gloom and given them so important meanings that whenever they're used they bring to mind something completely else
I actually thought this was the last episode because Link wasn't getting up and then I remembered Twilight princess exists. Then I was like oh this is how it ends but then I saw Sky's boot so lmao.
This Link being beaten to pulp, closing his eyes and having that Sky encounter suggested to me that he just died. The story could easily continue without him (Again focusing on Ganondorf, Zelda, Impa and the fate of Hyrule - and possibly the Twilight Realm and maybe Ordon's Link). But not sure that's what MajorLink would actually go for. We'll have to wait a little to know if there's a plot twist incoming though, I guess :D
@@bedrockboy2194 he’s gonna survive after losing to Ganon, thus losing his ego, and likely will see some people die because of Link’s failure. Maybe it’s Zelda. Maybe it’s Saria… we know from TP that Ganon is successful in killing one of the sages if I’m not mistaken. And we also have the theory that since Link is in TP is a horse trainer that he has some lineage from Oot Link x Malon the farmers daughter.
I don't care what anyone says, Hero's Purpose is 100% canon. I'm actually crying from how humanized OoT/TP Ganondorf is here, and the duality of the Curse
@@joueusedelacave7798they did in Wind Waker and nobody cared for a while. Besides TOTK Ganondorf is not the same Ganondorf as the mainstream version so the version we are familiar with is still a 3 dimensional villain.
@@chadpeterson5698 Actually, a lot of people (me included) claim that WW Ganondorf is their favorite Ganondorf in terms of personnality (not design of course).
@@joueusedelacave7798I was referring to the fact that not many people cared about Wind Waker for a while since it was a subversion of what was promised in the Space World 2000 Demo. That being said, while I do like his Wind Waker incarnation I prefer his Hyrule Warriors incarnation since he has the commanding and menacing presence of most Ganondorf incarnations while also having some of the good traits of his Wind Waker incarnation since he gives credit where it is due and he does have a sense of respect for others.
@@DarrianYates It's long and complicated but... Let's say it this way. Skyward sword, along with the multiple mangas around The Legend of Zelda have slowly made that story so simply epic into and absolute tragedy. Skyward Sword introduced three notions, the Soul of the Goddess, the Soul of the Hero and Demise's curse, each of them linked to our three main players in Zelda, the Princess herself bears the Sould of the Goddess, blessed to guide the world to it's future, Link bears that of the Hero, blessed to protect the world from evils of all form and Demise's Curse is... The last wish of god defeated by the First Link in Skyward sword, with his dying breath he cursed the land of Hyrule and souls of the Goddess and the Hero to forever face evil and hardship, creating a powerful Malevolence that we see incarnated in Ganon, for which Ganaondorf is the vessel most of the time. The Mangas that happened since have made use of this concept to deepen the relationship in the characters, making Ganondorf sometimes nothing more than a puppet of the curse, sometimes more a tragic hero wanting to save his people from the desert but choosing the worst of solutions, the games also support this very idea in several of their hidden lore, the mangas merely get more time to expose it, while also giving Link a much stronger agency by making him a character rather than a silent force like in the games. The idea that Ganondorf is aware of the curse can be seen alluded to in many mangas, or even in an indirect way in how he acts in Wind Waker, not seeking conflict or dominion, simply to raise back a lost land from the depth of the sea. And of course the most recent entry of Zelda games, Breath of the Wild, and the soon coming Tears of the Kingdom, show us the Malevolence of the Curse in it's full force, where Ganondorf himself doesn't even exist, Ganon is now a pure force of nature. All in all, the cimplicity of The LEgend of Zelda hides a tragically underrated story and concepts that I hope the mangakas working on the serie will keep on putting front and center.
@@DarrianYates As an old fan I am hoping to see a game where we get a chance to fight the cursr, to see Ganondorf, Link and Zelda all three together on the same side.

This Episode was great, the wait was worth it! Loved that you gave Ganondorf depht as a Character. I like where this is going and can't wait for Episode 6!
I love that ganon is written as evil AND sympathetic, all of this was caused by Demise. He just wants the curse to end. He and link are both two sides of the same coin, both were given important roles at a young age and really had no say in it. Masterful writing right here.
Not just Link and Ganondorf, but Zelda as well. She doesn't realize it but she's also done playing Hylia's game of using others to achieve her goals. As a goddess she didn't care about endangering Link, but as the mortal Zelda, she has a more human and caring side.
Tbh I think this story is pretty much accurate because come on we all want to know what happened to the hero of time obviously he died but still I would love to know what really happened and I think you're story is mostly lore accurate even tho it is fan made I still think is straight forward into the lore of what really happened to him plz don't ever give up on your next story would love to know what happened to the twilight princess link too I think this episode is going to be heart break ;; and I'm not ready
Average Zelda Fan: "Man, I really hate that Ganondorf." Hero's Purpose Fan after watching episode five: "I'm broken." This is your best work of art. Every episode gets better and better. Thank you for this. I mean it.
To be honest you are rigth when i play Ocarina Of Time i really hate Ganondorf, but when i see the history of Skyward Sword i understande everything Demise and the Curse but now with Hero's Purpose you can understand Ganondorf but to the endo open the Sacred Realm just gonna bring the OoT Future o well something like that Ganon ruling Hyrule and that, the intentions are good (end the cycle) but in the end the result will be catastrophic
The saddest thing is even though Ganondorf wishes to break the curse using the triforce if he actually got the triforce he would not be able to stop demise from taking over and destroying the whole world so he still has to be stopped the evil inside him is too great for him to control this curse will not be so easily undone
we're always knew ganondorf wasn't really a bad man. you should look at it from the war perspective Both sides thinks the other side is wrong and evil but the real evil has always been a demon in the shadows ( Zelda plays the notes of reality in a very cleaver way )
Making Link and Ganondorf mirror's of each other is so brilliant, both with great duties forced on them young, both with past lifes forcing their hands against their will
The way Link fought Ganondorf. If he had The Master Sword alone. It be over for sure. I love how you included all of the secret swordsman techniques in this from Twilight Princess.
To be fair, quite a few of them were initially created in other games. Link to the Past had more than a couple. Not that I can remember them all. So many games in this series I've played over 23 years of gaming.
When the one with Power feels powerless and seeks to use Wisdom. When the one that lost its Courage tries to pretend with Power. When the one that is Wise uses Courage to stand for what she believes in. Really love the writing on the main three this time around! Thank you, and everyone who worked on this project to bring such a masterpiece to life looking forward to the next episode!
Friend, this is an amazing observation. The writing for this series has been on point from the very beginning so I like to think that was very much intentional, but thank you for putting it into words. Definitely going to be holding onto your words upon my next of many, MANY re-watchings.
Is a good observation, but Link gets his courage went he knows the truth, that "Hylia needed someone with an unbreakable spitit, that someone is you Link" ; that makes it a beautiful story not a sad story.
@@hurin9aure I disagree. That unbreakable spirit meant nothing. He just went through the motion, without an actual say. He's fighting because of all the trauma and all he lost to Ganondorf, but this is not the same Ganondorf. Things might have been different, but we'll never know.
This version of ganon has me in total shock. To see him show emotion.. see him tired. This was amazing everyone who had something to do with this I tip my hat to you this is beautiful
yeah, wish we could have more deeper moments with ganondorf such as his ending speech in wind waker, in which he admits that he envied the people of hyrule
Honestly, at this point incarnating as Demise's pawn over and over again. Doomed to die over and over again; causing endless pain. The idea of Ganondorf coming to hate Demise as much as the Hero's Spirit is a wonderful turn for the character.
@@757guy8 Thank you. It also plays into the theme of each character who holds one the element of the Triforce lacking the essential traits of the others. Ganondorf lacks both courage and wisdom but revels in power. However can one even have power if one is a slave to fear and ignorance? How much more so when you are literally a slave?
Seeing Ganondorf in this is absolutely heart-wrenching. I mean, it is for all the characters, but especially him, we've never seen him in quite a light or situation like this. Bravo, sir.
The only thing we got that was close to this was windwaker Ganon even still he wasn't aware he was cursed but neither of the 3 do. It's an intriguing idea to say the least. I've always wanted more purpose for Ganon then just blindly driven to f shit up. Totk bringing him bk really needs that to go along with the voice acting.
tbh it makes sense to wonder "why am i afraid of some bpy, by the way why am i destined to fight him?" Thats his whole point. at first to try to force like he did,but realizing he cannot just take it for granted, the scene of him facing lost woods curse made it clear he thought on the woods realizing it is not good to force or why have this at all? But the curse is a good thing to notice, and something the royal family will hide away, and never admit to it publicly or even to the affected parties. After all he at least admits his wrong doings, by saying "no one is above a sin" His point proven by link unable to resist the "heros duty" and just swing at him constantly while ganon just laying down the facts like a 5 dish special.
The first scene with the soldiers in the woods hit different...Brigo had Courage without Wisdom, while those defending the bridge had Courage without Power to fend off Ganondorf, hence Ganondorf's comment "Meaningless courage." So smart...Major Link takes all of Zelda's themes and weaves them beautifully together
The thumbnail of a furious Link is so haunting and frightening. If the Hero of Time was staring me down with an expression of pure rage like that, I would be praying to the Golden Goddesses themselves for a swift and painless death because I would not want to be on the receiving end of the fury of a man whose had to bare literally two lifetimes worth of pain and sorrow.
Honestly, the one thing that interests me is that for the most part, excluding Demise's influence, Ganondorf is shown to be incredibly patient here. Holding back his rage and malice as best as he can, no matter how many times Link, driven by the Spirit of the Hero, keeps attacking him. Ganondorf stays calm and patient, continuing to reason with the one trapped in a similar cycle as him. Even when struck with blow after blow, he doesn't give in until the very end. It goes to show that this Gandondorf has truly changed since the events of Ocarina of Time.
Supporting your observation is how the only time Ganondorf himself is angry (The man, not Demise's influence), is when he sees the illusion of his past self. Of all things that happen to him in this episode, it's his own self that elicts rage from him. His own foolish and hateful choices all those years ago are what anger him It's like he said. "When walking in circles, you catch up with yourself"
Painting ganondorf as the tortured villain is actually so genius. This is phenomenal and I quite literally cannot wait for the next one. Thank you for this incredible series.
I believe he pulled off of the context Wind Waker had provided. The Ganondorf there says similar stuff at one point, and Wind Waker does come after this in the timeline.
I noticed he stayed extremely accurate to story lore, love how he made a series out of this popular plot, that Nintendo never used. I really wish they gave us a game like this.
@@SaxyCalzone So? Wind Waker speaks of the hero of time and the events that happened. I know it's a different timeline, but this is the game that it split from. The Ganon in that game had talked similar to how this Ganon does, I think this guy did an amazing job with lore and popular theories.
I feel that as Shiek, Zelda expresses thoughts that she would normally keep to herself. As Zelda she is kind, wise, and patient as she’s expected to be, seldom getting assertive. That’s part of why she became Sheik. As a Sheikah warrior, she feels more comfortable with being assertive and saying things she wouldn’t as princess of Hyrule. She has a lot of negative thoughts over being on the sidelines while others fight and die for her. So as Sheik she is more than willing to get them off her chest and be stern with others, because as Princess Zelda she is expected not to.
Even more than that, as Shiek, she's free. "Zelda" can't be free of this destiny. "Zelda" has to push the hero to fight this endless battle. "Zelda" has to sit on the sidelines and watch. But that's _not_ Zelda the Hylian. That's _Shiek the Sheikah._ Sheik can do whatever she wants.
@@TheBanishedWind See, I'm not sure. Some official sources call Sheik is male, but some official sources call Sheik a female. So, I'm not entirely sure. I say, it depends on how one interprets him/her.
@@SapphireLibra3 NightCoreMoon? Is that you? Also, Sheik is a male-presenting disguise in "Hero's Purpose" just like in OoT. Referring to "him" with she/her pronouns is more for those who know it's Zelda in disguise.
@@SapphireLibra3I used to say "she" more than "he" for Sheik, but with so many interpretations, I've personally been content to call Sheik "they". If one were to hunt Sheik, not knowing if they're male or female complicates it for their persuers trying to determine who they may be behind the mask. At least that's my headcanon😅
That's if Demise doesn't interfere. Demise is only allowing Gannondorf to have free will up until he reaches the triforce they both have the same goals up until reaching the triforce. There needs to be a mediator to stop demise from influencing Gannondorf either Link or Zelda.
Yall understand the end has already been written link will die an turn into the heros shade and ganondorf will be over come and thrown into the twilight realm
@@jst978 Then as I said, the endgame of the series should be to break the curse, whenever they plan to end it. Breaking the curse should involve separating Demise from Ganondorf, thus bringing about the return of Demise proper.
Never in a million years did I think you’d give this amount of humanity to Ganondorf. Having him trying to solve everything with diplomacy and exposing his vulnerability to his greatest enemy touched my heart in a way I wouldn’t have expected. Also showing Link getting corrupted as well by what’s supposed to be the “good guys”, only to continue the endless bloodshed, simply wow. Both characters suffered hell and back since childhood and that moment in which you think they finally can get to understand each other is beautiful… only to be cut away by that goddamn curse. As always: music, dialogue, animation, pacing, everything on point. This series keeps escalating and toying with my emotions like the first time. It because of people like you that I adore this fandom. Thank you
Absolutely masterful direction for Ganondorf. I always loved the more human side of Wind Waker Ganondorf, and was crushed when i found out that a lot of that humanity was just localization. And that he never had any goodness in him. The direction taken for this Ganondorf acknoweldges that he cannot break free of the curse. It acknowledges that nothing he did was for the betterment of his people. It's tragic. The confrontation had so much emotion. We want to believe him. He's right in many ways. It makes us doubt Hylia. But by the end, we realize... There's no way Demise would've let him get that close to the Triforce without taking over. As much as we want Ganondorf to end this curse... Hylia knows. The Spirit of the Hero knows. Demise is manipulating Ganondorf to believe that he can have that freedom. And when Ganondorf reaches that point of humanity... When he stoops so low to connect with Link, and hears that name... He realizes Ganondorf is no longer useful, and kills what's left of his humanity. It works so well with Wind Waker Ganondorf. WW Ganondorf was a man who had lived so long, without a way to rule, that he forgot his purpose. He sought the triforce and Hyrule, and he couldn't even remember why he casued so much bloodshed. Demise had essentially went dormant. But you know a lot of his desires were being manipulated by Demise. He lies about wanting to help his people, thinking maybe it's true. HOPING that it's true. The second he touched that triforce, it would come back to him. Demise would fill him with that lust for power and blood. The King of Red Lions honestly did him a favor, taking away the only goal of thr curse. At that moment, Ganondorf lost his only purpose. But with Hyrule washed away under the sea, the curse was washed away as well.
@AzumarillConGafasBv I've been told that Ganondorf saying he wanted more for his people (the Gerudo) wasn't in the original Japanese text. It was implied that he wasn't really good and was instead just trying to justify all the stuff he did-- and all the stuff he's still doing. We can still interpret Wind Waker's ending as Ganondorf's humanity rearing its head, but one part of the sympathy was merely localization.
Demise and Hylia pulling the strings from the background using Gannondorf and Link to continue their battle is a dope story. It paints what we know as a one sided story, giving the tale more depth. I have loved this project and I can't wait to see more! Keep up the good work everyone!!
And Gannondorf successfully pacifying Link with his words/Demise controlling Gannondorf from within, genius! (Guy most definitely channeled every aspect of the Triforce there, shame what happens after)
@@jaybling6687 I think the curse doesn't pick sides, it just does what it was summoned to do. But if it was controlled by Demise, it'd make sense because Ganondorf could hold Demise at the moment. Only after Link weakened him it seems that he was able to break free fully
This is now canon. I am literally in tears with how perfect this is and how much it touched my soul. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this series.
@@client-success-secrets Nah, the trousers are the same orangish colour from the Skyward Sword model. The Oath to Order rendition when Ganondorf explains their curse to be forced to follow their destiny no matter their feelings, was an immaculate choice. A subversion that still means what it means.
You and me both. I never thought I see a complex Side of Ganondorf than the one we are familiar with. And he has become aware of Demise’s curse, and how it all tieds to him, Link and Princess Zelda.
This is Fan Fiction at its absolute best. And even saying that seems like an insult to this project. I havent wanted to comment on any of the videos until the full story was complete. But this last episode demands praise This is a master class of how to write a sequel and a prequel. The continuity has been flawless, the animation is spot on, the nostalgia is consuming, and the writing is brilliant. WELL DONE. Keep writing from the heart because it shows.
I actually got emotional when Ganondorf actual had that moment of remorse and you actually realize there is some human within him but the curse of demise is so strong he cannot overcome it is literally a cycle……
I know this is a fan fiction, and I know some things aren't explicitly explained in Zelda, and different people have different interpretations of certain things in the game, but this is one of the things I don't think really makes sense in this video. The Death Sword isn't even Ganondorf's sword. It was an execution blade used in the Arbiter's Grounds, which was a place where people were executed. You can tell it's not a Gerudo weapon because it doesn't match the Gerudo aesthetic. The Death Sword lacks the signature curves of Gerudo weaponry, and the style of the inscriptions are not found on any Gerudo weapon. The Death Sword more closely resembles a mixture between a medieval European and Asian executioner blade, which makes sense because Hyrule takes inspiration from both of those cultures and the Arbiter's Grounds was built by Hylians.
@@corvus9359 Well, yeah. I suppose there are some consistency issues and ambiguity involving Gerudo culture and the blade's purpose. I don't think the blade was specifically designed for execution, since next to nothing is given about it in the game, but I can see your point. I still love the nod though, and I hope Ganondorf's connection to the sword's spirit is elaborated on in a future episode.
@@uncle167 While nothing is directly said about the Death Sword explicitly, you can still piece the puzzle together with visual clues. To really get into it, the combination of the design of the blade itself, and the location it is found implies it was used for execution. It's a single edge with most of its weight concentrated on the end, which has no point on its tip. The sword itself is also very thick. This design means it is meant for cleaving, which is not practical for a sword. The role of a sword is for slashing and stabbing, and the design of the Death Sword is not suited for either of those. In combat, the role of cleaving is filled by the axe. Now as for what the Death Sword was cleaving, well given that it was found in the Arbiter's Grounds, a place where people were executed, that would mean its purpose was for cleaving heads. The Death Sword, and the Arbiter's Grounds as a whole are part of Hyrule's dark period of history, which has since been covered up by the Sheikah clan, and we see remnants of that in Ocarina of Time with the Shadow Temple, as well as the Arbiter's Grounds in Twilight Princess. This would explain why the Death Sword is tied down with what appear to be ofuda seals from Japanese culture, which the Sheikah are based on. It should also be noted that the Arbiter's Grounds are a Hylian structure, which should rule out the Death Sword as a Gerudo weapon straight away. As for its connection to Ganondorf, throughout the series, Ganon's power (or rather, Demise's power) has been shown to have the ability to corrupt creatures and objects into violent monsters. The ofuda seals that bind the sword are meant to contain evil spirits, implying that the sword is cursed with the spirits of those who were executed with it, or that someone decided to seal those spirits within the sword. Ganon's power likely strengthened those spirits, which took form when the seals were removed.
@@corvus9359 That's pretty good attention to detail. Love the analysis on it. It is interesting to note how impractical it is in combat, as well as how many themes you managed to piece together. There is quite a bit to talk about in regards to Hyrule's dark history and the activities of the Sheikah, and I'm interested in seeing what MajorLink has planned next.
I can't stress enough how much I loved the use of oath to order when of all people to ever be able to understand Link's pain, it's by far his worst enemy and probably the very reason he had to suffer so much in his point of view, Link's complete shock yet understanding of the situation Ganondorf was in is heartbreaking. It's from this point onward that Link's entire belief is broken, he's no longer fighting to end Ganondorf, he's just in complete denial.
@furiousfinch1587 There will always be a Hero. There will always be a Princess. There will always be a King of Evil. This is the only path forward that awaits them. To attempt to go otherwise is foolish and fruitless.
I literally cried during the battle and was in awe during the link vs ganon battle. The dialogue was superb. The lighting was excellent. Can't believe this is just fan made.
The way the curse of the lost woods works is very well done and unnerving. Also nothing but chills at 29:24 it seriously reminded me that Ganondorf has zero memory of fighting Link since the climax of OOT never happened!
PHANTOM GANON HAS THE COOLEST ORIGIN THAT I NEVER SAW COMING. I also really love how you tie threads of Ganondorf’s characterization together from not just Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, but Wind Waker as well. He is, undeniably, still ruthless and fueled by something dark and unsettling, but there’s a strange melancholy to him and motivation to help his people, too. You bring all those versions together really nicely so that they feel like the same person here.
Ganondorf talking to Link gave me goosebumps! They went through the same struggle the only difference is that Link was chosen to be the hero while Ganondorf was born to be the villain. But they are both slaves to their destiny. What a chilling moment. My favourite episode so far. Im excited for the next one even if I have to wait for another year because I know it's gonna be worth it!
Kind of reminds me of the dynamic between Kain and Raziel from the Legacy of Kain series. One is a redeemer the other a destroyer; a pawn and a messiah. Both were preordained to play out their roles without any say in the matter.
Of course are your surprised this is created by a fan for fans Just like Twilight princess was that's why the director and creator fought so hard on Nintendo to get it made

This is genuinely one of my favorite series of all time. I am completely shocked every time how phenomenal these episodes are. It is insane how much shear emotion you've managed to imbue these stories with, it gives me chills every time. The way you've characterized Link and Ganondorf and everyone else is so perfect in the way it stays true to the games but at the same time giving them so much more depth. In the games, its explained how these journeys have taken a toll on Link but I never really felt how tragic it really was until watching these videos. Same with Ganondorf, the weight of the world being put on his shoulders from his birth and at the same time being puppeted by the curse of demise is so tragic and you convey it perfectly. I cannot wait to see where this goes next.
@@Sir_Adam I agree, the cave painting of Ganondorf in the first teaser trailer looks pretty similar to the Ganondaorf of twilight princess. Though we see him die in the end of the game so I don’t know how he can really come back 🤷♂️
I really hope OOT Link does not die this soon. If he does TP Link will never exist. This series is exactly the powerful, emotional, brutal PG-13 Legend of Zelda Nintendo don't have the guts to tell. Thank you.
As someone who has ready the official manga for the first war, where the very first hero Link was chosen, and played almost every Zelda game, this can easily be called a masterpiece, without question. Every scene in these 5 parts gives a perfect representation of the characters and their development over time, and the realization that Ganondorf is aware of the cycle and actively trying so stop it is amazing! When Ganondorf was trying to explain everything to Link, I love how you made it subtle, but also obvious at the same, that Hylia and Demise were puppeteers, and they were nothing but toys to them. Fan-Freaking-TASTIC!!
Happy to see this story again. So many elements to review. Okay. Here is the list. 1-I love how you captured the essence of war, showing the despair and horror that soldiers die. The way the Hylian soldiers fight against the Poes is incredible. And I also love the scenes with Impa and Zelda fighting. Impa shows that even she has a limit to what she can tolerate, falling into despair when it comes to seeing her army die. Likewise, Zelda turning into Sheik to fight was incredible. She used Nayru's love and the Smash fighting style to make a good fight scene. The fight with Phantom Ganon and the Iron Knuckle was a good climax. 2-You made the Lost Woods more scary than the other games. I love how the soldier was met with illusions of Zelda knighting him. Likewise, Ganondorf being met by illusions of Link, Zelda, and himself. 3- The encounter between Ganondorf and Skull Kid, the N64 antagonists was epic. You can see that Ganondorf's evil is comparable to Majora's Mask, even making Skull Kid remember his scenes. I love how Ganondorf tries to reason with Skull Kid, but Demise's anger nearly makes him kill Tael when he tries to send him away. 4- The encounter between Ganondorf and the son of the Great Deku Tree was emotive. You can see Ganondorf's guilt at killing the Deku Tree, and you can see the seedling understanding Ganondorf's point of view. He has a great burden hiding the Kokiri Emerald. As such, he considers giving it to Ganondorf to get rid of the burden in his shoulders. 5 The fight between Link and Ganondorf is epic. You can see that Link is using all of his arsenal to fight Ganondorf. And you can see that Ganondorf is enjoying the fight. The way the mood of the fight changed when Ganondorf discovers Link's identity shows the empathy he feels at Link being cursed. 6- I love how the curse of Demise is horrible not just to Ganondorf, but also to Link. Ganondorf is the one who empathizes with Link the most because he carries the same burden. You can see that Link wants to stop, but the curse makes him keep fighting. The interrogation with Ganondorf shows that Link is unsure of what to do. He is facing Ganondorf because it's the only option that he has. This also shows at the end, when Ganondorf learns Link's name and Demise possesses him to attack. I also like how the memory of the first Zelda is portrayed negatively because it shows Link's desire to protect Zelda curses him to fight. 7- The presence of Skyward Link was amazing. He is a mentor and guide to this Link and this Link was a mentor to Twilight Link. And I feel like he will help Link fight back against the curse. Overall, this story feels like a movie. It's worth waiting because it looks like you researched the game and filled in the gaps.
There are no words in this or any language that can portray the feelings I have for this story. Ganondorf’s attempted penance, Demise’s interference, and the callbacks to the original Hero, the only one to process all three pieces of the TriForce? As I said, no words.
MajorLink, your work is such a treat, and I think I speak for everyone here when I say you have such a gift with storytelling. Not to mention, your animation ability is truly top-notch. No matter the wait, I am always excited to see your work!
Upon watching this latest episode, I am reminded now of how much your work is a love letter to this franchise. I love The Legend of Zelda to pieces, and seeing this, I can only imagine how much deeper your love goes to create something of this caliber. Again, thank you for all that you do MajorLink!
I continue to rewatch the previous episodes and even though I have watched them over 20 times I still get chills. This one will probably hit me even harder than the previous ones.
@@Triboy64 I don't think he will I do believe ganondorf/Demise will make it to the temple of time but will be stopped somehow which leads into a version of the execution event shown in twilight princess.
I can't believe it's already been a year since this came out. Its been said already but I'll restate it: This is hands down THE greatest zelda fan project EVER. Since episode 1 it already felt cannon to me and I take this as cannon to the series.
This blew me away. The way you've gone and fleshed out Ganondorf's story and character is nothing short of amazing. The closest we've come to seeing this level of layered complexity in his character canonically is with Wind Waker's Ganondorf, who reveals the source of his motivations & already has been rendered a broken man who has lost everything in the aftermath of the great flood that buried Hyrule. This is such a great reminder that even villains such as Ganondorf can have a sense of humanity in them. Also the inclusion of Death Sword such a fantastic nod to Twilight Princess!
What a masterpiece! MajorLink at his finest. The animation continues to get better and better, but the writing in this episode was next level. The parallel between Link and Ganondorf was beautiful. His confrontation of Link and making him speechless reminded me of Pain and Naruto. Excellent work!
This is my Zelda movie that I’ve always wanted! The Hero of Time’s tragic and heartbreaking story more in depth! thank you Major Link!!! You don’t know how much you inspired me! I even got into animating in Source Film Maker because of your amazing work! I knew the wait it always worth it! THANK YOU!!! Your my favorite Zelda RUclipsr!
@@unomi7653 It's saying "Ganondorf the person" is still in there at this point in time. By the time Zant meets him, that is gone and only "the Evil King" remains.
I thought I already loved the OoT/MM timeline. I thought they could never be improved upon. So called fan fiction rarely captivates or expands upon canon . This however breaks the mold. This is masterpiece manifest. This series will forever be a part of this story in my heart.
You got me crying over a FREAKING TREE goddammit 😭😭😭 This is so f*cking tragic. Link has already lost so much, and he's about to lose even more. It's all made 10 times sadder because it looked like the Deku Sprout gave up the Emerald, and probably its life, to stop Ganondorf from finishing off Link. The fact that we know, at least according to current LoZ canon, that neither this Link nor this Ganondorf are going to succeed in stopping the cycle makes everything even worse :(((
Man. You know you did good writing and characterization of Ganondorf when Link's like, "Am I the bad guy here?" Amazing writing, and the use of shadows/lighting in certain character close ups was incredible.
Well, it's complicated. Zelda is the real villain. She knows the cycle is present but would never break it for safety reasons. No matter what, Link always ends up winning. So basically they get subjugated to eternal fighting and losing their lives to her continuous cycle. I can see why Zelda keeps it from him and lies, but it is very fucked up. Link is not in the wrong at all though for what he did, he is intentionally told nothing to be a blind loyal dog
@@biggiecheese2004 Here’s the thing, I don’t think Zelda knows about it either. If she did, then why wouldn’t she try to defy it? As Zelda made pretty clear to Impa, she didn’t want to force Link to fight for her. So at what point does fate overtake freedom.
Amazing storytelling and animation. I really got Eren Jaegar vibes when Link was being brainwashed by Goddess Hylia and the Spirit of the Hero. Also, humanizing Ganondorf was such a brilliant approach, with him finally realizing the never-ending cycle that the three of them are cursed into for eternity. It made you want, for the first time in LoZ storytelling, for the "bad guy" to win. Imagine if Zelda games started to take this approach to Ganondorf's character instead of how he normally is portrayed as. The closest we had to this was Wind Waker Ganondorf and it would do so much for the series if they showcased more nuanced perspectives - but at the same time I feel as if they are keeping it black and white on purpose to leave it up to the interpretation of the fans.
Dunno if anyone mentioned this but when Ganondorf asks Link 'What would you do?' and there are no options for Link to pick, that is VERY subluminal messaging as if to say 'There is no choice' as he wouldn't have a choice anyway because of the Fate the Goddess's put upon them. Least that's what it looks like from my perspective, which is freaking awesome writing.
Honestly, I took that scene to mean that Link doesn't really know WHAT he would do, which goes along with his behavior during the whole encounter: Confused, terrified, and broken to the point of almost going mad realizing that not only was he never truly free, but that he will never BE free as a person.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 That's exactly what I said though. By saying 'he won't be free as a person' is the same as what I said about there being no option because of the fate put upon him. Same diff, honestly.
The excitement I get every time a new episode comes out is unmatched. You never fail to bring tears to my eyes with this masterpiece that so well portrays aspects of the story we as an audience never considered. Not only the continuous presence of Demise, but Hylia as well...Ganondorf’s line of “She just used you” hit so hard when you start to understand what this curse really means for their lives and all the other incarnations who get sucked into it. Especially when we’ve seen Link struggling throughout this story facing what he’s been through as well as now when he starts to empathize with Ganondorf and understand where he’s coming from only to be forced into his role again. Bravo, I can’t wait to see what’s next!
This...might've just turned Ganondorf into one of my favourite Zelda characters of all time! Overall absolutely fantastic writing, music choices (especially the use of the "Courage" remix from the old Twilight's Shadow animations), beautiful characterizations...this was 100% worth the wait, a wonderful masterpiece and the most heroic love letter this franchise and fandom could've ever wished for. An outstanding work of art indeed. Thank you to MajorLink and to all the others who brought this to life.
@Zoomer Stasi yeah the around the table 5 star reviews really go to show how bad it is… you sound dumb, best Zelda game since Twilight Princess. Story is great, gameplay is great
totk haven't been around long enough. Already got plenty of prime scores. Judging it because of botw is amateurish. While it got hope to be a nicely rich title.
As always this is a masterpiece. The 'main' story between Link and Ganondorf is one that tears your heart to pieces. We all love Link and are aware of what he has gone through but everyone sees Ganondorf as just evil. However, anyone has the potential to be evil and we see that Ganondorf was no different. Much like Link, his destiny was forced onto him and he had no choice but to go on with it. He is well aware of his sins and though knows they can't be forgiven easily, is wanting to escape from the destiny that forces him to commit these sins. He sees Link as someone who is tired as he is and is suffering much like he is. He wants to end this cycle so they can CHOOSE their own paths, perhaps one of peace for both of them. He wants to free himself of not only his own demon but of the one Link isn't even aware he has. It's a tragically beautiful story. There are other stories though like with Impa. She is like any other mentor/teacher/commander, etc. She cares for her soldiers and wants nothing for the best of them hence her hard training. Her soldiers return the favor by unending loyalty towards not only Hyrule but her as well. We see her pain as those same soldiers fall one by one, still looking for her to tell them they did their duty as they breath their last breath. It absolutely destroys her to see this as she feels it is the end...until we see yet another part of the story. We see Zelda who has forever regretted not being able to fight. She spent years training so she wouldn't be helpless again. She no longer wants to be the one people fight for and instead, she wants to fight WITH them for what they have ALWAYS been REALLY fighting for...their home. She saw what having Link fight for her has done to him and she has had enough of the sacrifices. In a way she has also had enough of her destiny much like Link and Ganondorf have. It only makes sense that the three bearers of the Triforce are rebelling against their destiny all at the same time. Beautiful and very well done writing. Last but not least this is weaved together by a soundtrack that only adds to the wordless emotions we feel. Yet another piece that I will be watching endlessly.
Dude... I have to be blunt and tell you, you need to learn to divide your comments in paragraphs... What you wrote is like in gigantic paragraph and nobody is gonna read that.
@@Raylightsen Thought I did but apparently I hadn't in my half asleep state. Thanks for the catch. This is canon to me. The Hero of Time’s journey is the most important one of my childhood, I just completed Majorca’s Mask again today and binged this after. It’s honestly an incredible experience, when I first played the game I was just 11, and I’m going on 19 now. Seeing these characters again made me truly happy, and I cannot wait for the next installment!
I've been in the Zelda community for years, but this is one of the the best things the fandom has made. It's on par with things like "Fate is what we make it", "A new Calamity", "Linked Universe","Ben Drowned",and Morshu beatboxing. This is an emotional masterpiece that I had never expected to see. We can all tell that this had heart and soul poured into every scene. It gives me the chills just watching it. We needed a story of what happened between Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess, but I never would have expected it to be this beautiful.
Those moments with the soldiers were legit heart wrenching. Good shit. Also, love the Melee Sheik transformation pose and sound effect. Now THAT’S attention to detail. 👌
The one that got me was the one who went after Link, dude literally was genuinely worried for him only to very likely die succumbing to the madness of the Lost Woods.
I'm still shocked with this masterpiece. The way the story are flowing, the feels, the thoughts of each character, the angst, all is perfectly put on scene. The vision and purpose of Ganondorf, Link's reactions, Zelda's feelings... I even can't articulate a good opinion. Just thank you so much for the effort to bringing it to us, you are amazing!
I don't know what it is, but you make these characters seem alive. These episodes are fire. So well made!!! I am not a sentimental person but you had me almost crying and shaking my head in despair when Ganondorf was punching Link into the ground.
Dude, this is heavy shit. When Gannondorf said, "Even now I'm made to bloody these hands. With no end in sight." That shit hit me so hard I teared up. This script is amazing! If you need a voice actor for grunts and stuff hmu.
This episode is something else, really. The way you portray the curse that Demise put on both Link and Ganondorf is so interesting. Link's sudden bursts of energy and need to fight Ganondorf is almost like a tic that he cannot stop, even though he obviously wants to. I mean look at him at 38:46, he looks so lost and scared, his eyes are completely devoid of light, they, along with his brows, are trembling uncontrollably. His whole face, from what we can see of it, just cries out "Help, I can't stop." I cant help but compare it to the Clone Inhibitor Chips from Star Wars, whenever the Spirit of the Hero takes control of Link, he really can't stop, it's like the Spirit is possessing him to just hack at Ganondorf. There were times throughout this scene that I was thinking to myself "Dude, enough, just stop, he wants to help." We have always seen a Link that is bold and heroic, with no fear or hesitation in sight, ready for action, for Hyrule and Princess Zelda, but never before have we seen this side of the hero, and in some way, it kind of makes sense, and it is heartbreaking. Ganondorf on the other hand, oh man. Ganondorf has it way worse than Link, every time Demise takes influence on him, it's not just a tic that causes outbursts, it's a whole damn parasite that just takes full control of his mind. Just look at how he just beats up Link at 41:27 he literally looks like a robot, just a mindless machine that has the word 'destroy' looping over and over in his head. While Link looks like he has some awareness to what he is doing, enough to make him want to stop, Ganondorf looks hypnotized, it's like his conscience has been completely erased and is replaced with a malicious, machine moving demon, and the scary part is that he technically is. The Ganondorf that we just saw not even 30 seconds ago, that wanted to break this curse, that wanted both him and Link to choose their own destiny, and follow a free future, just died, leaving behind a vessel for Demise to take hold over, and enact his wicked deeds. In the end of the day, it is obvious that both Link and Ganondorf want the same thing in this series, they want to be free, to lift this curse that they have, and start with a clean slate. I wish that both would come together, break their curse and live their lives the way THEY want to, without having to be thrust into any more burdens, but sadly we all know that just isn't happening. MajorLink, you are a genius, this series is on a whole other level in terms of fan series, especially Nintendo and Zelda fan series, I cannot wait to see how this series will go from here, and I cant wait to see more projects from you, thank you.
Your words remind me of a LoZ fan comic, “ A Tale of Two Rulers”. That Ganon is pretty much like this video. There’s also a dub here on RUclips. It’s pretty good.
Imagine if that were a twist in TotK….maybe the reason Ganon became the blight wasn’t because he was defeated, but was because Ganondorf himself rejected Ganon’s power, and maybe the reason the Master Sword was destroyed was due to the energy link absorbed being evil in nature as a result of being placed there by Ganondorf himself. Now that would be a twist!
Whether he realized it or not Ganondorf is being manipulated. The hatred of Demise wants the Triforce and it has allowed Ganondorf to believe that his quest for the Triforce is his own idea.
Everything was pristine. Ganondorf's determination, his regret, the use of demise's text box and arm; I adore your characterization of Ganondorf and his struggles with both destiny and Demise's curse.
Me watching Episode One: Oh, neat. A Fan animation about the Hero's Shade? Sure, I'll check it out. Me after Episode Five: OKAY BUT GANONDORF HAS A POINT Im both so glad and really angry im only just discovering this series, because now I have to wait anxiously for more episodes but at the same time, Im SO GLAD I finally found it! Its been a real long time since LOZ-related fan content has captured my interest, but your lorecrafting is very believable and even canon-compliant at moments. I love everything about this, I love that Sheik/Zelda use their moveset from Super Smash Bros, I love that Link remembers things people said to him even if it has been years (Like how he remembers everyone's name in BOTW when you talk to NPCs) I love seeing the contrast between a hellbent OOT Ganondorf and the more methodical, more calm TP Ganondorf, youve done the Trio SO WELL. And the swap you have done so subtly I had to read the comments to properly catch it! How Courage reaches for Power, Power seeks Wisdom, and Wisdom is abandoned for Courage. ITS SO GOOD. Ive literally sent this series to all of my friends so I have more people to talk about it with. Subscribed and (begrudgingly, but patiently!) waiting for the next installment! Thank you for such a well-crafted story. I fully trust your instincts, wherever you take this story I know you will do it well and I look forward to it, regardless of which direction you take.
I absolutely love your Ganondorf and your interpretation of the curse godssssss. I can't even think of anything I'm speechless. Link was trying so hard to understand but Hylia kept pulling his strings, same with Ganondorf not wanting to fight but the Malice taking over right at the end m a n. This episode left me messed up. Zelda talking to Impa that they must prioritize lifes instead of the Ocarina was amazing too. And lastly I legit gasped when the hero of the Skies showed up, it's always a treat to see heroes interacting ;v;;;;;,
Being a kid, playing Ocarina of Time, i never dreamed that I would get to see something like this in my lifetime, where it shows Ganondorf in a totally different light. He's actually seeking redemption, but he's misunderstood by the people he encounters and also controlled by a demon who only seeks to destroy the spirit of the Hero which bested such a demon so long ago.. And Link, seemingly being influenced by Hylia, who uses Link's pain of what he's been through to keep him fighting to the point where he's not fighting with courage, but with rage! And Zelda herself.. She puts aside wisdom and summons the courage to fight for the lives of the people of Hyrule, not some family relics. Major Link, you've created something with these videos that I don't think even Nintendo could top. Sure, they could try, but I doubt they will ever make a Zelda game with this level of storytelling. I'll be looking forward to the next one!
@@dhans9662 Given he's trying to take the Temple of Time he may be pulling a bit of Wakfu's Nox Any evil he did can be undone. Also i don't think it's necessarily Hylia doing anything of that. Demise using the memory of her/the first Zelda.
The true tragedy in this series is that Ganondorf believes he is right. He thinks he has a chance to break the curse. But Hylia knows he can't. The Spirit of the Hero knows he can't. And Demise does too, of course. I think Demise was manipulating Ganondorf into believing he had a chance to end the curse. But as we saw in this episode, Demise quickly disposed of his humanity when he got too close to Link. Demise took the vulnerability of both Link and Ganondorf to essentially "kill" them both at the same time.
@@DaNintendude That's also a good interpretation, it IS Hylia and the Hero's spirit who know that what Ganondorf is trying to do won't free anyone, just give Demise what he wants.
'Seeking redemption?' Please bare in mind the guy just orchestrated an attack and massacre on three hylian realms. I don't particularly give a damn that a Demon made him Do it, he still chose to submit to its will. And now at this moment he decides to change? Not buying it. He is a weak man who couldn't bare the burden of his task. He and Link are not the same.
Link literally chooses every option we, the players, would not choose! LINK ALWAYS LIES!!! Ganondorf has made great development and the whole demise thing was a real twist :) Can't wait for Episode 6, getting chills!!!
Link makes the choices that he feels is expected of him as the Chosen Hero. This is hinted as well in the official timeline, with Zelda's Diary painting a picture of Link's character. He's a mute because he feels his feelings are not important, and have to be kept to himself to fulfill his duties as the Hero. I would imagine the incarnations of Link before him were of a similar mind.
@@kingcamelot1395 I agree. This is Link answering the way "The Hero" would respond. Very interesting. It's a shame this would never be exploring in a real game.
@@kingcamelot1395 Yeah, I agree as well :) Link has a duty focused mind. Interestingly this causes him to hurt inside. And for him to not truly enjoy his life. Hopefully in the next episode he will understand that his feelings do matter and that he can still be the Hero and have feelings.
In Links defense after knowing very well what Ganondorf is capable of in the past and even in a future where he got the triforce of power and turned hyrule into a dark wasteland of death and despair. He knows how manipulative Ganondorf is, he’s manipulated the king he’s tricked him into opening the temple of time to get the triforce. So it doesn’t surprise me he is acting more towards personal vendetta than the hero’s spirit( which I believe works the opposite of demises curse and inspires hope and courage to stand up to all forms of evil not just demise), he feels like killing Ganondorf is the only way for hyrule to be at peace and at the same time avenge his friends who have perished because of him. Even when Ganondorf is trying to reason with him it doesn’t help that link knows a future he doesn’t know and probably figured Ganondorf is playing mind games to use him as a tool just like he did before. I hope He gets a resolve and understanding that even Ganondorf needs saving too and maybe they together can break demises curse.
@@aieurich Yeah that would be a really good alternative to how Legend of Zelda goes :) Especially since you really just kill Ganondorf save Hyrule and do it all over again.
I personally find it amazing how you put so much care and dedication in each character. Even with Skull Kid, Ganondorf (who’s sort of trying not to be the Demise curse-guided guy he once was) threatening him reminded him of how Majora treated him. There’s almost no character that even a troll can complain is 2D. So much thought put into everything it’s beautiful.
This is incredible!! I love the attention to detail! Link using the same stance as the Hero’s Shade, the same hidden skills, the Death Sword as well! The music is perfect! This is a beautiful masterpiece and I’m so excited for the next episode! This is such a talented team. Well done!

Link, the one desperate to maintain his purpose in a world that needs him less and less.
Ganondorf, the one seeking to renounce his purpose in a world that's hated him all his life.
Zelda, the one determined to transcend her purpose in a world that's played her like a puppet.

"Tears of the Kingdom didn't humanize Ganondorf so by Hylia I'M DOING IT MYSELF"
- Major Link, probably.
Actually, the Era of the Wilds Ganondorf is so much more evil than the original that some people believe he’s completely unrelated to Demise and turned evil of his own accord.
@@ZorLink21How so, exactly?
I mean it largely seemed on par with the others to me
I honestly read it as a retelling of OoT coup attempt,
Spoliers;

And slight tangent; why not steal Zeldas gem as well? She was right there and seemed less prepared than Sonia.
And then theres his last ditch dragon plan, which at best was just one last spiteful act. At worse looked like a gamble on his part.
@@Firestar4041 he probably didn’t kill Zelda because he wanted her to suffer a fate *worse than* death.
"what is your name boy", when you realise that two characters so intrinsically tied to one another barely know each other and the world hasn't let them understand one another too
and a tragic twist that in choosing to honour the one he knows is trapped alongside him, he brought forth the one word that would trigger his inner demon like no other could
He is an absolute monster
I'm more curious about the history of demise what's his back story? Are we going to find out?
@@Lonewolf-jv5yoWe don’t know much. We only really know what’s told in game. He attempted to take the Tri-Force for himself, and nearly annihilated the human race.
Well wouldn’t he have to bone someone in order for TP to happen
@@bedrockboy2194 he’s gonna survive after losing to Ganon, thus losing his ego, and likely will see some people die because of Link’s failure. Maybe it’s Zelda. Maybe it’s Saria… we know from TP that Ganon is successful in killing one of the sages if I’m not mistaken. And we also have the theory that since Link is in TP is a horse trainer that he has some lineage from Oot Link x Malon the farmers daughter.

I love how the plot has Link and Gannondorf being influenced by the wills of the First Hero and Demise.
???????? First Hero and Demise? Could you tell me more, because I've played Ocarina of Time and haven't heard about any of these characters
@@Nimi450 w o w, this makes all this even more sad. Iwonder if Ganondorf, link, and zelda will team up to fight the curse

I love that ganon is written as evil AND sympathetic, all of this was caused by Demise. He just wants the curse to end. He and link are both two sides of the same coin, both were given important roles at a young age and really had no say in it. Masterful writing right here.
This idea quite literally turns the Legend Of Zelda structure on it's head
If they were freed from their shackles I could see them actually being good friends.
The problem is neither of them can trust each other enough.
@@Kruegernator123 Not in their current circumstances no, but I meant if things were different.
Not just Link and Ganondorf, but Zelda as well. She doesn't realize it but she's also done playing Hylia's game of using others to achieve her goals. As a goddess she didn't care about endangering Link, but as the mortal Zelda, she has a more human and caring side.

I don’t really hate him, he is simply a puppet tugged along by the strings of fate the goddesses pull with the triforce.
Yeah he’s evil but he had good intentions, he just went about everything in the worst way possible 😢
He needed to pass them down... And never could
❤that was brilliant 👏
The Silver Arrows would take down Ganondorf in an instant.

That makes Link an even more tragic character.

Bravo, sir.
Not to mention he has become aware of Denise’s curse.
Yep, and I honestly very much sypnosize with Ganondorf in that regard
After all he at least admits his wrong doings, by saying "no one is above a sin"

I like what you did with Ganondorf. It made him more “human” then just being evil.
I love how he's written. So much depth and emotion
Supporting your observation is how the only time Ganondorf himself is angry (The man, not Demise's influence), is when he sees the illusion of his past self. Of all things that happen to him in this episode, it's his own self that elicts rage from him. His own foolish and hateful choices all those years ago are what anger him
It's like he said.

That's if Demise doesn't interfere. Demise is only allowing Gannondorf to have free will up until he reaches the triforce they both have the same goals up until reaching the triforce. There needs to be a mediator to stop demise from influencing Gannondorf either Link or Zelda.

Care to elaborate on the localisation bit?
@AzumarillConGafasBv I've been told that Ganondorf saying he wanted more for his people (the Gerudo) wasn't in the original Japanese text. It was implied that he wasn't really good and was instead just trying to justify all the stuff he did-- and all the stuff he's still doing.
We can still interpret Wind Waker's ending as Ganondorf's humanity rearing its head, but one part of the sympathy was merely localization.
Or was it? Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks may contradict this theory. The curse still lives on… in a different form.
@@Kefgoeroe totally not, Bellum is a form of evil present only in the dream world that takes place on PH
Hylia is not good either. She is controlling Link in the same way Demise is controlling Ganondorf.

And making Ganondorf the only one to truly understand what both he and Link are going through.
And Gannondorf successfully pacifying Link with his words/Demise controlling Gannondorf from within, genius! (Guy most definitely channeled every aspect of the Triforce there, shame what happens after)

I actually got emotional when Ganondorf actual had that moment of remorse and you actually realize there is some human within him but the curse of demise is so strong he cannot overcome it is literally a cycle……
Damn, Ganondorf even brought the Death Sword to the fight! I knew he'd use it. It's fitting in so many ways.
The moment Ganondorf knocks off Link's helmit and realizes who he is....good lord....chills to the core.
Definitely hit at the very core of the series.
It was in that moment, he knew
it had all been for nothing. He had followed the cycle yet again, and yet again stood before the Hero.
@furiousfinch1587 There will always be a Hero. There will always be a Princess. There will always be a King of Evil. This is the only path forward that awaits them. To attempt to go otherwise is foolish and fruitless.
@@kingcamelot1395 ok hylia
Yeah... and did you see the sword art skills? Just THE SAME as in that game... but i knew it in the moment i first saw Link on that suit.
@SpaceOut 65 wind water is where he comes closest. In that game he explains his almost reasonable excuse to why he wants the triforce.
This gave more depth to Ganondorf than Tears of the Kingdom
Lmao. Knew someone was gonna say this.
Of course are your surprised this is created by a fan for fans
Just like Twilight princess was that's why the director and creator fought so hard on Nintendo to get it made
@@Lonewolf-jv5yo Too bad he's not allowed to do more stories cause this whole lack of story is starting to get old, if Nintendo can't realize a good story is just as good as gameplay, their games will forever be plagued with moderate scores by fans. I myself gave it a 7/10 for my issues with the game.
Yeah he is still basically just “I want to destroy everything” but in this he feels more human rather then just evil.
TOTK Ganondorf feels more like Demise than OOT Ganondorf
This series makes me believe a Zelda anime or movie could actually be amazing. Fantastic job once again. This is by far my favorite Zelda fan fic.
I also see we have some similar ideas about the Tears of the Kingdom story line 😂 hopefully it turns out to be true cuz god damn this is compelling.
Well excuuuuse~ me princess wasn't enough for you?
The writing about inevitable destiny is amazing , the animation is phenominal , the scores are banger . This truly is peak yt
I wasn't prepared to cry over Ganondorf, BUT HERE I AM!
Damn now I’m starting to feel bad for Ganon. The vessel not the monster.
I’m gonna be replaying Twilight Princess with a completely different perspective from now on, GODS THIS IS GOOD
Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf is the same Ganondorf so I wonder how that will play out.....
@@Sir_Adam. No confirmation of that yet; It's very likely to be a completely different Ganondorf altogether.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 Nah, its the same Ganondorf. all the hints point to it being the same guy.

Thank you.
Hero's Purpose must be canon, the animation, the story, the characters... All is very Good
Thanks Major Link for create this 🙏
The MAJOR chokehold this series has on me I may never recover...watching this 2yrs ago was the greatest decision ever. Thank you
As someone who has ready the official manga for the first war, where the very first hero Link was chosen, and played almost every Zelda game, this can easily be called a masterpiece, without question.
This shows the Hero of Time showing the hidden skills that will be shown to the Hero of Twilight. Amazing!
I have a feeling this episode will REALLY start the gut punches.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 I agree completely, I look forward to Link beating up Ganondorf. I wonder if he will draw the Master Sword in this series.
@@Triboy64 Nah not Ganondorf...DEMISE.

It's saying "Ganondorf the person" is still in there at this point in time.
The fact that we know, at least according to current LoZ canon, that neither this Link nor this Ganondorf are going to succeed in stopping the cycle makes everything even worse :(((
Man. You know you did good writing and characterization of Ganondorf when Link's like, "Am I the bad guy here?"
Amazing writing, and the use of shadows/lighting in certain character close ups was incredible.

I can’t believe it was 10 months since the last episode. Needless to say I a SO hyped for this
As always this is a masterpiece.

GANNON-BANNED.

Im both so glad and really angry im only just discovering this series, because now I have to wait anxiously for more episodes but at the same time, Im SO GLAD I finally found it!
Bro he literally massacres Castle Town
'Seeking redemption?'
Please bare in mind the guy just orchestrated an attack and massacre on three hylian realms.
Well done!
