Lol, it is a little more nuanced than that. You've obviously never been in the system and talked to the numerous psyche doctors and researchers that determine gang affiliation or not when you go in.
Just wanted to say this, as someone who has been to prison in the state of Michigan. If you only have a hatchet man tattoo while incarcerated in the MDOC, you will not get SGT'ed (Security Gang Threat)
HOWEVER! if you have 3 or more juggalo tattoos (jokers cards, hatchet man, dark lotus tattoos for example) and you openly say "I am a juggalo" and you also talk in the juggalo slang (saying "Neden" or "whoop whoop" as another example) and also group up with other juggalos on the prison yard, then Yes, they will break up you and the homies, you will be SGT labeled and moved up to a level 5 security which will effect your parole date. There is a method of operation for determination of who is and is not a threat to the MDOC. I hav no knowledge on other state prisons, they all have different rules and regulations on how they classify a gang member. This is what I've come to known strictly from the state of Michigan.

What’s crazy is I have a number still as an affiliate of the juggalos while being in DOC. I was not able to be housed with anyone in the state of Indiana that was not a part of a security threat group. All I had was tattoos of J and Shaggs along with the carnival of carnage.

I was in prison in Oklahoma, and there was a Juggalo gang called the JRB (Juggalo Rydas Bitch)...but there numbers were low... most of us held tight in there, but had many races and colors riding together...most gangs didn't take us seriously...basically were took care of each other and called out self family...but in that just because I bought the same CD in highschool as you doesn't mean I like you... I'm 42, I bought my first ICP CD in the early 90's, Tunnel of Lover EP.... Guess I'm old school.

CD stores were closing across the country. So ICP couldn't afford to keep Twiztid on the payroll. So Twiztid became there own bosses.
ICP/Psychopathic don't pay any of their artists. It has nothing to do with CD stores, and even less to do with CD sales when basically every record label in the world has accepted the fact that most people don't buy physical copies of music anymore so they've adjusted to the new digital reality. Money made by professional musicians comes almost entirely by touring and selling merch, the music itself is basically given away for free nowadays with some exceptions. This is to get them in the door of live concerts.

This isn’t even what the beef was/is about. The beef is because Violent J took young wicked in and gave him every opportunity to have an excellent life, same as he did with Twiztid. Then young wicked, who was married or engaged, telling Violent J how much he cared about his wife/fiancée whatever, snuck around lied and got J’s neice pregnant and became an absentee father. Being an absentee father is one of the worst things somebody can do, and dude lied about it after getting caught once, and even fucked up his second chance. Obviously that’s disgraceful behavior, although god bless the child 100%. So what do twiztid do when ICP kicks young wicked out of their space? Twiztid then signs young wicked to their label “magic ninja” which is even words directly from the mind of Violent J. And to go one more, Twiztid had talked shit about young wicked in the beginning when they were all together, saying “yeah this dude sucks, we shouldn’t help him”. Then after he directly sins in the face of the kindness of the family, Twiztid signs him. That’s what the beef is about, and frankly it’s disappointing to even type this comment out. A few years ago, I was walking somewhere in an uptight community, minding my own business, and 3 police rolled up on me from out of nowhere. Acting like I just murdered someone and was on the run. As they are searching me, I only had a cellphone, a pocket knife, and my wallet, I asked them why they were stopping me and one officer replied that I looked very suspicious because I had on a ringmaster jersey and have a very big and very red hatchetman tattoo on my right forearm. They asked me if I considered myself to be a juggalo which I replied what is a juggalo? Another officer replied that juggalos are considered to be gang affiliates. I laughed and said well, I am a juggalo, obviously, I'm rocking hatchet gear and hatchet man tattoos. But I'm not a gang member of any sort. Before they let me go they told me not to be walking around there anymore and if they see me again they would take me to jail on "suspicious activity". And I was on my way. I started walking to and from work almost every day after that just to see if they would try that. I had an attorney ready to rip them apart if so. Officials in Alabama are way too uptight about everything.
Also, I've been listening to ICP and twisted since I was 17. I just turned 40. I've been to many twisted and ICP concerts. I think my favorite was the Chaos and Chronic tour at the masquerade in Atlanta. It was Twiztid, Kotton mouth kings, big B, and Blaze.
Now I'm more of a fan of Majic Ninja Records than I am of Psychopathic records. I'll always be a Juggalo, but I feel like ICP sold out and aren't fresh anymore. I would love to see Dark Lotus back together though
Around 2012 I had 2 cops pull up to me on my way home from work. I usually take off my work gear because it's uncomfortable to wear 8 hours a day lol. & underneath I was almost always wearing a Juggalo related shirt. They were very polite to me thankfully and just asked me about it. They were like oh we heard it's gang activity related and we're just wondering what it was and what's going on & I explained to them that the label was a common misconception going around lately. That right there at the time proved to me the label was a real thing. I've never once had any issues with cops before.

Yeah ICP started that shit but 98 on up Twiztid played a huge role , shit blaze and ABK to ( not as much as Twiztid but still ) Twiztid became huge and def influenced the juggalo community eap during the Golden era at Psy. They stayed for the sake of the juggalos but there was years of friction behind closed doors . Joe and Paul mainly and Joey and Jamie just riding with they homies . It seems there's also a lot they aren't even saying. I'm guessing they signed some non-disclosure agreement, and probably (legally) can't even discuss certain details. Because aside from the march stuff - which I believe is surface level - it also had to do with them not having their masters, and not being promoted or valued as artists, and possibly other personal differences. Mono did talk about one altercation they had, a long time ago. But it mostly sounds like differences in various business decisions is the main factor.
If you listen to Marz's interview on Tales From the Pit channel, he goes into detail about how J was trying to pit him against Twiztid, and basically a controling person. He acknowledges that J was simultaneously driven and hard-working as well as generous (like giving him rides for a while) but also kind of a snake. And then so many people have left Psy (or have expressed grievances) besides Twiztid, including former producers, ABK, Blaze, and others. There's even a vid on here about how J is very difficult to work for, by someone completely unrelated.
