I love it and I guess you just came up on my feed so I'm really glad I found your channel! You can't imagine how encouraging you are, I jumped up and got my embroidery thread out and some fabric pieces. I had already cut out some 4x4 blocks and backing as I was going to do several and join them for a pillow or book or blanket for my 18 mo old grandson which I started oh maybe last summer but I got stuck and sidetracked making farm recipe journals and learning to tatt. When I retreat to my room I tatt or make Suffolk puffs or seed stitching lots of bookmarks so I need to get back to this. I was going to do dinosaurs or farm animals so I think I'll make this to start. I got a hobby lobby gift card for my birthday so I'll go get some embroidery colors that I don't have. So Thank you so much. This piece really touched my heart. I love my hummers and sparrows and chickadees. Being retired, taking care of them is the center of my world right now when I'm at home. Flowers too but it's just too hot for most so I give up till fall to get more of them. So.. hugs and gratitude for this lovely peaceful video!
Thank you! Glad I encouraged you! Stitching a grandchild’s favourite animal or object adds a special feeling to the piece from start to finish. Happy Stitching!
I seldom pick up needles because of my patience and perfection don’t allow me to go on. Now I found out you methods tell me everything is possible and will be beautiful

l love your birdies ! 💓I think my favourite is the Starling 🌸I would have used the needlepuller that your clever Granddaughter chose for the Moon .....sew it on...and treasure the sweet memory of her choosing it and saying her new word ..... "moon" ! 🌝 ❤
Thank you! She loves playing with the needle puller😊I love that idea although I think she may have wanted me to pull it off if it was stitched in place😊
This is beautiful project, thank you for sharing. I adore chickadees, we have many that visit our feeders and they're my favortite of all the visitors. I wondered what you do with a project such as this, once completed? Is it displayed as a wall hanging, incorporated into a blanket, or ??
Thank you! Some I mount on canvas for display, some are patches or pouches. They also could be blocks as part of a quilt, depending on the batting used. 😊🧵🪡
Love your video- thank you for explaining why you added something and your thought process. This is such a beautiful piece of art! How do you display these - do you hang them on a wall or sew them all together like a quilt?
Thank you! I have quite a few of these bird pieces now in the same size. I am thinking they will be displayed all together as a series. How exactly I haven’t decided 😊 For single pieces I have a video where I show how I add a hanging wire or twine to small art quilts ruclips.net/video/iMf872CAdPI/видео.html
I love this piece. I have occasionally considered combining strands of two colored threads but haven't done it. This turned out well for you so I will be trying this. Thanks for the tip,. What do you use for your base fabric?
Thank you! I think you’ll like the results from combining two colours. I use felt as a base. Both acrylic and wool felt work well for me. The acrylic felt needs to be soft though. My local fabric store has good quality felt that’s soft and not “crispy” like some felt can be.
I think your threads are knotting because each thread not in going in the same direction. If you run your fingers down a cut thread one way is smooth, the other is like going against the grain,so to speak. Just turn one thread around. Using a wax helps too
I make my own template. I’m showing a template I made of a Steller’s Jay in my next video. It’s coming out this week. I’ll add a link here when it’s up!
Traceable Templates (bird, dog, cat) for making your own stitched pieces are now available from my shop! www.jomorphett.com/shop 😊

Thank you! Yes it is felt. I get felt from my local fabric shop. It’s sold by the yard. It soft and easy to stitch through. 😊🧵🪡

I’m using felt as the base of the collage!
