Now, I truly believe that when we ask the Lord to guide our actions, we must realize that various influences can shape our path.
Sometimes, pride takes the lead in our decisions. But beware, as Proverbs 16:18 warns, pride comes before a fall, leading to destruction.
Lust is another force that can direct our steps. 1 Peter 2:11 advises us, dear friends, to resist worldly desires that can harm our souls.
So, ask yourself: What is steering your journey? Is it pride, lust, the pursuit of wealth, or material possessions?
The Bible, in Psalm 119:133, beautifully says, "Guide my steps according to Your Word, and may no wrongdoing have power over me." It's a plea to let God's guidance be the compass for our lives, shielding us from harmful influences.
Dear friend,
Can you honestly declare that you're journeying alongside God? Do you kick off your day by reaching out to the Lord, asking Him to lead, hold your hand, and take charge of your decisions, choices, and focus?
Consider, who is orchestrating your steps? Is God's word your guiding light, illuminating the path you tread and determining who directs your journey?
Let's be mindful that there's an ongoing battle between our fleshly desires and our spiritual aspirations. As Galatians 5:16-17 wisely puts it, "Walk by the spirit, and you won't fulfill the cravings of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is against the spirit, and the spirit opposes the flesh. They are in constant conflict, preventing you from doing what you want."
The flesh pulls us towards worldly love, self-centeredness, pride, sinfulness, and unholiness. On the other hand, walking in the spirit means being entirely devoted to Jesus Christ. So, let your steps be guided by the spirit, aligning with a path devoted to Christ.
Embracing a spiritual walk is beautifully captured in 2 Corinthians 5:7:
"We walk by faith, not by sight."
I urge you to yearn for and surrender to being led by God, guided by His Word and the Holy Spirit, as expressed in Psalm 119:133-136:
"Direct my steps by your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep your precepts. May your face shine upon your servant and teach me your statutes. Rivers of water run down my eyes because men do not keep your law."
Now, let's join together in prayer:
Lord Jesus, I pray for the removal of any barriers hindering our hearts from being receptive to You. May the Holy Spirit not only comfort and counsel us but also convict and correct us. Guide us to walk in Your ways and challenge us to conquer sin.
In John 14:15-18, your Word tells us:
"If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to help you and be with you forever-the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."
Father, as believers, you've bestowed upon us the Spirit of Truth. We welcome the Spirit of Truth into our lives. May this Spirit guide us to see your word as our compass, leading us to follow the wisdom in Psalm chapter 1, which instructs us on how to navigate life.
By avoiding the counsel of the wicked and resisting the influence of the unrighteous, we are promised blessings and favor from God. Holy Spirit, assist us, so we don't walk in the way of sinners or rest in the seat of scoffers. Instead, may we be led by Jesus Christ in all that we do.
I pray that my joy and fulfillment may come from immersing myself in the Word of God. Let my delight be in Your precepts and teachings, and let Your word be my constant meditation day and night.
