    I'm going there on 14th June to Lake Ohrid. Just for a week, but looking forward to it. I love visiting new countries with history and lovely scenery. We can now fly there from my home city of Manchester.

      Hi im thinking of going in august as a fellow mancunian how did you find it? Price wise? Food? Night life? Thanks

    • @npe1
      @npe1 Год назад +1

      @@user-we3kk9kz1s It's very cheap and eating out is a doddle. The food is lovely because of all the different cultures that have left their mark there, so hearty Eastern European food, influences of Turkish cuisine from the Ottoman Empire, Greek influence as it's just over the border and classic Mediterranean. Plus the usual international food - pizza, pasta, steaks etc. Night life - this isn't a swinging, heavy night life place like Ibiza, Benidorm or Majorca or even Malta. Night life tends to be centred around bars with open air terraces and any entertainment put on by hotels. There is in Ohrid, like many places in the world, always an Irish Bar which is lively.

    Ohrid is one of the rare places in the world where it has dual UNESCO protection. Ohrid the city for it's Cultural heritage and Lake Ohrid for it's Natural. Lake Ohrid is the oldest and deepest lake in all of Europe! It has hundreds of endemic creatures and the local trout (pastramka) is delicious! Next to Ohrid is Struga and it has a river which runs out of (instead of into) the lake. Very unusual, I could go on and on, but hey, come see for yourself. Brits are welcome 🎉

    Wonderful place, food and peaceful people. LBGT+ society is also welcome, and quite save. Yes its Balkans, some people are back in the past but we also have nice electric dance scene and mainstream culture. Come see, and if you don't like it, you don't pay it. Greetings from Macedonia.

    I used to live in Kosovo what Macedonia doesn’t need is a load of drunken Brits. The wine and food is really lovely. Because it’s from former Yugoslavia the tourist accommodation is really nice in parts but can be a bit shabby in places.
    It’s a really lovely part of the world and Skopje is only 3 hours away from Thessaloniki in Greece.
    I hope it it becomes popular it’s not ruined by drunks that goes along with the typical U.K. tourist demanding English cooked breakfast 🙄

    "First university and first alphabet in the world"... What a joke ! The oldest university is certainly the "University of Bologna" founded in 1088. And the first alphabet is the phoenician alphabet.

    • @EvitaNasevska
      @EvitaNasevska Год назад +3

      She never said "the first university", she mentioned Kliment's University linking it to the educational history of the city where the *cyrillic* alphabet was created, the guy didn't really understand what she was saying and just repeated whatever he thought she said.

    • @vasiltashkov594

      And the Cyrillic was actually developed in Bulgaria when these lands were part of the second Bulgarian empire...
