- Greetings from Poland! I'm totally jet-lagged, so I apologize for that frazzled-ness. What did you think of this week's songs?!
We're talking about Week 3 of the American Song Contest. First, we learn who's moving on to the semi-finals from Week 2, then we go through 12 performances from this week. We also answer the question, how many kids does Nick Cannon have?

Don't know if you know but the jury makes their decision based on the rehearsals the day before both for mello and Eurovision
Another problem with the *wildcard* is this. They will chose the top-2 streamed songs (from the non-qualified) to move ahead, but the time since release for each song is different!! Some songs had 4 weeks, while others will have 3 or 2 or 1 week each! They need to specify a time-span like "Number of streams in the first 14 days since release"!!
Maybe they normalize the results. They only count for a specific time period. Like one week each for song
Grant from Texas was my favorite for this week.
I am finding the songs very generic. They are o.k. but not super great for me.
Meagan: have you heard Mamoud & Blanco's Brividi - Italy's entry into ESC this year? it is my very favorite song of 2022, period, not just ESC! Just love it so much!
I had no clue this was how the jury rankings were being done. Doesn't seem right. If someone does better or worse live, the rankings won't reflect it and it just leaves audiences confused.
Anyways, I really hope the increase the 2 wildcards to 4 instead. That way there's 24 qualified contestants (instead of 22), which can then be sub-divided to 12 and 6 contestants in subsequent rounds. That would be perfect.
I completely agree about them showing the jury results after songs are performed. It definitely slowed the pacing of the show and was an immediate let down if you the viewer enjoyed the song and hoped maybe it might be the jury’s pick. I think a better way to do it would be to wait until after all the songs are performed and then do what they did by going through the songs by when they performed and placing them on the jury ranking board. It’d add suspense because as they say the name we see the songs go above or below what is already showing and then there’d be some suspense for the audience because at any moment the one in 1st might move down.
I agree. I’d also like to know how the votes from the audience’s votes ranked to see if the results are that the one song reflects the top one song from the jury and the other three the top three from the audience votes or if its a combination of the two and how much the jury and audience votes counted for that results.
My favorites of the night were Colorado, South Carolina, Texas, Florida, Alabama, and Northern Mariana Islands, but I’ve been listening to all the ASC songs on repeat along with ESC2022 songs, too. So many great new songs to listen to!!!!
I honestly didn't like the fact that the jury results were being spoiled during active competition. It was bad enough revealing the jury rankings of the last show at the start of the next, and worsened by seeing how each state's viewers voted, but then change it so the jury results are revealed song by song. Hard nope. Spoilers influence how people vote, plain and simple. Let people share their authentic thoughts and then follow it up once the season ends with the full voting breakdown.
I get why NBC/Propagate is changing their show formula, but they brought this on themselves. Had the contests and songs been advertised well enough ahead of time, more people would have made ASC part of their Monday night routine knowing (generally) what to expect.
As for some of the songs...
--Texas was solid. It had a lot of Billie Eilish energy.
--Tennessee works as a charting radio song. I get why a lot of song contest fans don't like it (e.g. the song being too ambiguous with its story), but those who listen to it on, say, KJUG won't care. Such a missed opportunity for NBC/Universal.
--Alaska was not great. I know a lot of people watching the contest prefer that song over many others, but it's too pretentious with its use of TV tropes. It thinks it's clever, and media that think it's clever usually aren't.
--South Carolina and South Dakota were just straight-on generic. They're fine for radio, but for a song contest they hardly have one shred of originality between them.
--CNMI is just such a wholesome song. It's not the best radio song or the best song contest song, but it knows what it is. This is an ascended street performance, and I love it for it.
And finally, we get this is all your opinion. People watch because of that. Saying 'bruh it's just an opinion' like a lot of people on the Internet jades a lot of viewers, because they think the content creator doesn't trust them. It's fine. We're all here to hear what you have to say. Just don't make a big thing of it.
The jury is posted online. All of them are music industry professionals, from singers to radio hosts to producers, etc. The only one I knew was Ester Dean from Oklahoma; singer-songwriter... also was in Pitch Perfect.
i actually liked jewels song, and for the Delaware thing they actually don't have sales tax NH doesn't have any either
Same, I enjoyed her song too, although the chorus kinda gives me Carola - “Invincible” vibes. It’s definitely very Swedish pop sounding but I actually enjoyed it.
Nervada was the best. I like this show a lot and it was in time this start. So lots of good music you have in US. I see it in SVT in Sweden.
Still waiting for a State to go full Finland and send a black metal band.
Week 4 video when?
I did, in fact, not know about Kidz Bop. Though I think we care a lot less about censoring in the EU in general, we as kids of course also don't understand what we're singing if the song is in english (though I don't know if that makes it better or worse 🤣), so it's not like kids can copy the dirty words or curse words from the songs.
In the Netherlands, we have a group called 'Kinderen voor Kinderen', but they release 1 album of original songs each year. I used to LOVE them when I was younger. They've also been going for almost 40 years now I think!
Grant from Texas talked in his studio recording too. And it bothered me too.
you look much better, and even younger now compared to the time when you were in sweden.
Jewel’s song was the best get owned
these reviews are dope!! happy you like tell me 😋! also green light is one of my favorites!!!
Do you like Veronica Maggio?
Louisiana was the best one in the episode tbh
its too loååång i dont have time fore this 🤔
You really didn't miss much. It was 58 minutes of cringey jokes, and "observations". She gave it her best attempt though so I guess that's something.
Texas was the best and jury are trippin
I didn't like the jury results at all on this episode.
While I literally let you watch the show instead of me (your commentary and the performance fragments seem much more enjoyable than the actual show), you should take a break from it while you enjoy Europe! It seems a shame you'll have to waste time traveling to watch the show, let alone editing these videos.
It's okay to skip a few weeks or make a video to catch up with what has happened when you get back!
When are you doing a bikini testing?
cshe is singing, i dont take any pictures anymore, and atill she is harrasing the cameraman.
Delaware has a connection to Sweden, in the 17th century sweden had a colony there called New Sweden. untill the Dutch snitched it.
i think the word you were thinking of was Pixelated.
to long..😒
16:35 If Grant Knoche was more muscular/buff and had a beard, he could have pulled off that outfit. But he looks awkward wearing it.
33:45 The Ni/Co duo is kinda cringe and weirds me out. I hope I never see them again.
37:45 Jewel's performance, as sloppy as it was, was nowhere near the disaster of Macy Gray's performance. That was a whole dumpster fire, and her choir and rapper carried the song while she barely even performed and couldn't hit her own high notes.
I’m curious, what’s cringy about the duet?
@@dawgforlife100 Meagan mentioned one of them, the kissing on stage. I find it cringy how they formed a duet based on their romantic relationship together, and they just look lame in general.
@@realtalk6195 ok just curious because I loved it. But I’m a sap for a love story.
