I'm convinced good drown population is what makes longer life queens. Started 2 frames use 3years ago. 5frame box 50%, 2 frame 6 out of 7. Keep on keeping on!!!

Supersedure cells actually are the same as grafted queen cells if you have heavily crowded beehives or nucs lots of bees lots of royal jelly bingo

Oh yes. Spot swaps. I did a video on this recently. Been doing it for a few years with a few more advanced concepts. The 2 frame is very very basic. Once you get the trick, you will learn that in 3 weeks, you could have had a lot more than just a new mated queen and a frame of drawn comb. For example, if you gave the foragers drawn comb, they would have focused on collecting nectar during flow while she was maturing. Imagine that on a larger 5 frame nuc? Or a large established colony. There are some additional details and tricks to keep it focused. But the foundation of it is using the bees colony regulation strategically. The forager heavy colony can’t draw near as much comb as the young brood nest with the existing queen. The foragers will be lounging after a while or drift on some level. It’s a really in-depth subject. I’ve tinkered it to death over the last few years. It’s quite an art form once you get it down.

Thanks brother. We built a few of these this spring. Just made a split with a frame with a queen cell, waiting another week to see how it went. 👍

Just built 2 of these…and made a split into each. Excited to see how they turn out in a couple weeks. Will check this weekend for queen cells to make sure I have them viable larvae the right age.

Excellent information David. That's not something that any new bee keeper would know about. I'll definitely pass this gem along to my be keeping friends. Thanks for sharing.

I hear a lot of people tell how supersedure cells are no good. Last year I had a hive that supeceded. That turned out to be my best queen.

Smart! Do you sometimes put the two frames into a larger hive?

    Hi David.
I’m sitting here in Denmark, Europe trying to use the 2-frame mini nucs.
The season has just started early May.
Our spring is march to May.
I don’t now how the seasons are in North Georgia, but is it to early to start making new colonies this early ?
At this time of year, the bees are not making queen cells yet.

What month do you recommend doing the 2 frame split?

Just curious, do you have to have special homeowners insurance for having bees on your property?

WHEN DO YOU MOVE THE 2 FRAME NUC OVER TO A 5 FRAME AND SO ON? IF I KEEP MAKING QUEENS, WHEN DO I STOP TO PREP FOR WINTER IN THE NORTH EAST. I KNOW DRONES WILL BE GONE AROUND SEPT.
