Oh gosh, I actually burst out laughing when you said "stupid and ugly".
Instead of attaching Venus’ retrograde cycle to negative outcomes such as breakups/loss of love etc perhaps a more optimistic way of viewing it would be to see it as an opportunity or a portal or catalyst of some sort for relationship transformation to occur that will essentially more closely align us with our deepest truth and fullest expression of self which is also the greatest service to not only ourselves and those with whom we relate directly but the human collective as a whole. It disappoints me to observe so many viewing this cycle and Venus as an archetype herself from such a one dimensional, superficial place because they are unable to see it for what it truly is and so approach it unconsciously with fear. Anyway, thank you Sarah for your incredible insights as always. I absolutely love your style of astrological interpretation, it resonates with my own soul on such a deep level and I truly appreciate the work you’re doing to support fellow sensitive souls such as myself in navigating what can at times be a really confusing and overwhelming world to live in. i’m a libra moon (ruled by venus) and virgo sun. i’ve always felt really tethered to venus energy. for me, retrograding venus is a time where i review what makes me feel loved and why but also where i am still working from the outside in. we learn to love by experiencing love first. so being someone who LOVES love i’ve learned to also check my tendency to want love from others when i’m least willing to give it.if i didn’t i wouldn’t be able to keep loving and feeling the love around me.
so it is in a way about pleasure and money and the tangible things that make me feel loved, but it’s a time for reviewing how my relationship with those things is and how those relationships impact my relationship with my inner being.

This is the first ever moment in my life where I begin to feel love and appreciation for myself as an individual. Never believed in fate or destiny, thinking that it meant a strict path we should follow that would lead somewhere - and astrology (therefore, also you ♡) has taught me so, so much about reframing my definitions of what that means.
I have a natal chart with 4 of my most relevant self-worth placements in Leo (sun, moon, jupiter and mars), and most of my placements overall (sun, moon, mars, mercury) in my 5th house. When I first saw my own chart I knew nothing about astrology, but I remember thinking my 5th house looked like a "planet party". Went on to discover what leo and 5th houses are all about. A party, indeed. 🎉❤

Beautiful sharing which I am grateful for. I reflect on all the past retrograde cycles and all the changes they brought. There has been some grief, but mostly joy in that I more often am able to honor and choose what I love, and with that comes some loss.
Loss of income for one, the last Leo retrograde cycle in 2015 led to the loss of my primary 'career' job. I relished the 6 month break I took to spend time doing more of what I love and being with those I love. Venus natally in Libra, in the 5th house. I do so love LOVE! 💚💚💚

It’s pretty incredible to look through the Venus retrograde dates over the past few years - those actually all turned out to be really important times of big shift.
Last time venus was retro in Leo I was 16 and giving a solo dance recital I had prepared a year for - but truthfully it was something I had been forced into. I’d had a lot of my creativity subjugated and used at my expense, especially being young and female, and that recital was evident of that. My north node is also 1° in Virgo in my 1st house, so that transit hit that as well, how people would try to interfere with my own directive in life by chaining and belittling my heart energy and insinuating I was what I was being pigeonholed into against my will.
These past 8 years, without realizing, I’ve been breaking the chains of that and reclaiming my healthy fire. There have been big themes of trusting my instincts, that I don’t need to have someone else guide me in what feels true to me and I don’t have to sacrifice the depth, power or clarity for those who prefer something diluted. I maintain my potency. I don’t have to comply with abuse of power or buy into the characterization others have put me in for choosing the wilder, free path of my own integrity. That feels very central in this time, as mars and Venus are currently hanging near my natal mars in my 1st house. Definitely a big time for reunion and healing within myself around those things. Really important to me, wow!! Big things closing out and beginning so the evening and morning star makes so much sense as well!! I’m so amazed to see all of this now and learn about the petals of Venus as well. Thank you Sarah wow !! 💛

My venus is in the sign of sagittarius (where there's also my ascendant amongst other placements) and leo is my 9th house (sagittarius). And a bit of 8th (scorpio). In the combination of my recent recognitions of changing course and place and the need to disappear for a period of time for a metamorphosis of sorts AND your message just now... Wonderful topic to discuss especially the 8 year cycle, I think 8 years ago I was going through a darker style transformation and I felt myself awakening to my more dark feminine energy, it shows up more and more nowadays :)
I left my husband during the 2020 retrograde. I got back together with him in September of that year and who seperation was super clarifying but painful. My Venus is in cancer conjunct Jupiter and opposite Saturn. I have a rough relationship to Venus, generally, most of the time I have doubts and questions feel very floaty in my relationships or unfulfilled in my marriage and I know it is false. So these times, I really have to examine very deeply and not make a sudden decision or change without deep introspection.
I can relate to you, my Venus is in cancer, and I have also had doubts along the way. 16 years together and it's interesting to see the patterns and try to make sense of it all.
I give of myself often without it being appreciated or respected. During Venus transits I stand on that precipice of withholding my heart centered giving in order to see whether or not it is appreciated. It feels a bit odd for me, but I have discovered much during it's backwards phase.
The last time we had this transit in Leo, I dumped the douchebag I was dating, abruptly left a toxic job, and stopped going to martial arts classes that I liked but were a huge investment of time. I spent my new-found downtime looking at how I was mothering my son and how I needed to change. This was on the back of my saturn return, so there were some pretty profound changes.

It has been disturbing me more and more lately.
