My husband killed himself almost exactly a year ago. I first discovered Pentatonix about 5 months ago, and this song describes exactly how I feel about them. They have managed to ease my grief. Not make it go away - that wouldn't be healthy - but they've made it more bearable, and that is no small feat.
When this released the day before Thanksgiving 2020, I was a bawling mess. 2020 was SO challenging on SO many levels. Hearing a Thank You was like a soothing balm to our hurting hearts. The video reminded me the simple moments in life are to be treasured... a pet, a gift, a snowball fight, a meal, good music, good company. ❤️
They just recently performed this live for the first time the other day on their concert tour. I watched a video clip and it was amazing. Scott on the piano and Kevin on the cello… What more can you ask for?
The story behind the song is lovely, but as usual, it is universal to nearly everyone. We all have, hopefully, someone to thank for getting us through this, and any year, with our sanity in tact. And hopefully, we have been that to someone else. Thank you for your fun reactions. Merry Christmas.
Scott wrote this song with his boyfriend Mark on Scott birthday. First thank you for Scott and Mark to each other and second thank you to group and third thank you is too fans. First dog is Scott and Mark name Bubba. other three dogs are Kirstin they are floof(little one) and big one Pascal and Oscar. React to them doing this song live on their tour.
Then they should not call and advertise themselves as acapella. Calling them dogs is worse than saying it's ok for acapella groups to play instruments. LOL I lost all respect for them, I used to absolutely love them but they ruined it for me.
@@chrispavlich9656Late to the party….story of my life (LOL), but I’m taking his own LOL in the middle of his rant as indicating he was being silly or sarcastic. Although honestly I don’t get it. :)
I love your reactions. As a cellist I have to say you CAN use the word violent. Cello can be a combat sport! If you reply I will explain. I hope all is well with you recovering from the flood, I used to live in Burnaby and have been keeping an eye on the news your way. From Cape Breton with love.
Nice reaction. This reaction video just showed up today eventhough it showed as being posted on 11-9-21, Was it blocked and now released? Scott co-wrote a beautiful song and they all performed it beautifully.
Idk if anyone has told you, but Kevin's cellos have names, I believe the one he uses here is Beyonce. I'm still making my way forward through your PTX vids, have you reacted to Radioactive (feat Lindsey Stirling) yet? If not, it would be awesome if you would: not only the awesome cello-boxing from Kevin but Lindsey is an incredible violinist who dances while playing. And Avi is kinda wild in it too.
Someone has probably already told you, but the dogs are their personal pets. The first one belongs to Scott Hoying and the others belong to Kirsten Maldonado.
I absolutely hate this kind of attitude toward musicians. Yes they’re predominantly a cappella but that doesn’t mean that they can’t occasionally use instruments. 4/5 members play instruments. It would be a shame that they never get to experiment with them within the group. Also nobody said they had to do a cappella for every song their whole career. This song was originally written with piano by Scott just for himself to get trough quarantine. They decided to add it to their Christmas album and bring in the cello. The cello is also part of their story from the beginning. It’s how they found Kevin so people are fine with him playing cello in their songs once in awhile.

I’m glad you’ve found some measure of peace. ❤️

The puppies: Scott has Bubba. Kirstin has little Floof, and huskies Olaf & Pascal.
RE: Violent not being an adjective that you can use with a cello... someone hasn't watched 2CELLO's cover of Thunderstruck. ;)
🤣
I immediately thought their Smooth Criminal but also valid.
I would LOVE to see a collaboration with Kevin and the 2CELLO’s, but I can’t decide what they should play!?!?!
@@efkaservicegirl same!

Correct, except Kirsie's other dog is not named Oscar, it's Olaf (the white husky).

@randycolaianni4937 sounds like a you issue..
DJ, I am so so so FREAKIN' happy that you reacted to this one!! this is one of my favorites of all time from PTX!
Even though this song is sooo pertinent to 2020, for so many reasons and in so many ways, I still see it becoming a new holiday classic for the ages.

Thank you, Janelle! Honestly, the way you talk about her, I'm falling in love with her. And I'm happily married to my hubby.
This was released for Christmas 2020 and was written by Scott and his boyfriend Mark on Scott's birthday.
Thank YOU!
this and evergreen (PTX originals) are just pefect
Thank you!
Thank you.
One of my favourites👍

Yeah…. It was blocked and got released today. That’s my life haha
Thanks - it's still so appropriate.

7:13 I beg to differ lol check out 2Cellos - Thunderstruck

Perhaps "the cello becomes more pronounced" instead of "violent" 😏
Can you please react to Pentatonix Somebody that I used to know (Gotye)
BTW, today I kicked ass and took initials because I didn't have time to take down whole names. Hope you're doing the same! Cheers.!
This is the best comment!
I have no interest in listening to an 'acapella' group playing instruments. this really stinks in my opinion, bye.

If you don't like then don't listen. There are millions who listen. Me included.
