Great documentary, thank you for sharing.🎉 Love Kshe95 radio station CRESTWOOD MO 1967. BACK IN THE DAY when rock n roll was the best youd ever hear--John Ulett and Mark Close have one of the best radio voices in the nation.
Great DJs on Kshe, alot has changed..too many commercial ads.. play the music that is what your listeners really want and need to hear from your radio station in 2024🎉 keep Rockn🎉
In the Navy I traveled many places in the world, wore a jean jacket with a kshe patch on it. Someone would recognize it & say hi. I got to intern with the engineer at KSHE for a few years and it was an awesome experience and a pleasure to have had a small part working with the worlds oldest rock station. It is really cool to get to meet many of the musicians & comedians that come to town. back in the early 70s I used to hang out @ KSLQ. Too bad I never hung out @ KSHE then, might have been a DJ.
Too bad Rick Balis, J.C. Corcoran and Emmaus didn't receive more credit for their part in destroying KSHE! Anyone who listened to KSHE from the beginning understands what I mean. Talk and formula radio became their mantra. I guess nothing good ever lasts.
Ownership changes in the early 80s. Stuff happens when the bucks are exchanged and people sell out. American Capitalism 101. Also, JC couldn't get out of the way of his ego, just like Bob Vila with This Old House, David Lee Roth with Van Halen and so many others.
Can someone please tell me the name of the song that is being played at 0:31? I know KSHE used it as the bumper for their news announcements back in the 70's.
KSHE listeners, come & chat with us online during the classics show Sunday am 8 - noon as we listen to KSHE stream online. See my profile for link. "Hi Ho it's only rock & roll but I like it"
" Fortunately, there was such an outcry KSHE returned to its real roots"????!!!!! Too bad they've strayed from it again ...Nickelback or 3doors down etc... is what you might hear now days...
This was a great radio station when I was serving my last three years of high school at Wesclin Jr. & Sr. High(1971-1974), in Trenton, Illinois. Eric Claptons' Layla riff was the stations' theme at the time. I am glad that I got to experience this during its' great years. Looks like a set of ADVENT speakers, can't make out the receiver(Pioneer?)
alpha2112beta Just curious....did you ever go to a place called "The Coffee Shop" in New Baden back in the 70s? At the time, it was out on the west end of town.
Elz was not the real Johnny Rabbitt. He may have been the first for a year or so, but the one I listened to, the real Rabbitt, was Don Pietromonaco. Look him up in Wikipedia, or check the KXOK tribute site...
I have a bunch of KSHE recordings/airchecks dating back to 1968, including my Jocktober stint at KSHE earlier this month. If any of you have any vintage KSHE recordings, I would love to make a trade. All of my KSHE recordings are on CD.
I hate kshe 95.. right now theyre playing foo fighters there goes my hero ugh kshe sucks.. same ol 100 songs over n over n over n over n over n over n over

It was called progressive ROCK.

I remember going to the window and ask for a request, even after midnight, that was the best time in FM history
My whole life I have been a listener of K SHE 95 , I am soo glad they are still around :) QC
Radio Rich Dalton is a treasure!!!
The first time I heard Jimi Hendrix on the radio!!!
this was a staple in my life being born in the 70's today i don't care for any stl radio

blah blah blah shoulda stayed at kslq Its prolly more honest
They need to do this year again for the 55 anniversary.
I wish K-SHE would go back to the way it was in the 70's & 80's.
Too commercial now...Play the same bands day in & day out.
Pretty much everything has a golden age and shelf life.
Riding along on former glory sucks.
Try 101.7FM
I'd like to j d blackfoot tune you played this morning
K she is the best radio station on earth listen to it all my life but the last 10 years I haven’t heard anything because I live in Florida now
Went out and bought my first FM radio in 1967 just to listen to KSHE.
u must be rollin over in your grave right now as kshe plays foo fighters
@@vaekkriinhart4347 Why is that? I love the Foo Fighters.
And then corporate America stepped in and now they’re just regurgitation and repetition
Back in the day, a KSHE ball cap was the only suitable hat to wear.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT. ... I WENT TO LISTENING TO WMRY 101.1 KSHE BY ANOTHER NAME NOW I LISTEN TO THE INTERNET AND DREAM ABOUT BARKLEY JAMES HARVEST
Yes, I listened to WMRY so much in the mid to late 1980s. Such great 👍 NEW music! Mark Klose was a deejay at that time!

I'll burn it n mail u the ashes. no charge. right now theyre playin foo fighters
@@vaekkriinhart4347 There's always the Sunday show...2 songs then 9 minutes of commercials.
Loved old Kshe. Not the new. They play Bon Jovi! 🤢
Can someone please tell me the name of the song that is being played at 0:31? I know KSHE used it as the bumper for their news announcements back in the 70's.
And I wouldn't exactly describe Nickelback or 3 Doors Down as "new, wild, crazy, out there rock music".....

@@dr.OgataSerizawa The only place on the west end of town that I can remember is the Sunoco Gas Station I worked at.
alpha2112beta
It was between the gas station and the tavern, on the south side of highway 161.

Neither did he work at KSHE in it's heyday.
