    Hi! Can you disassemble your fierce 4.? Coz I opened mine and it has 1 sealed ball bearing and 3 shielded ball bearing. I'm confused coz it says 4 sealed ball bearings.

    I've been looking to upgrade my gear for bigger fish and was definitely looking at the fierce based on what WILDLIFE has said. He also said some time ago the live liner fierce version doesn't last as long as the non live liner version. Was wondering if you had any results of that being true yourself.

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing

      I’ve been using the Fierce 3 live liner for years in 3k, 4K and 8k models. I beat the crap out of them and don’t take care of them and they keep on going. I would recommend them.
      Any reel with a 2nd drag system, regardless of brand, will have more parts and by default more chances to fail. So it’s amazing that with the abuse I put them through they haven’t.

      @Flahmas Год назад +1

      @@BitesandStrikesFishing That's great to hear and in which scenarios do you use the live liner? Carp fishing, catfishing, alligator gar? I always just leave the spool closed and feel for bites for catfish and see the line going tight or loose for carp. I guess there's a better way to do that including leaving the spool open possibly. I guess my question is in which types of fishing do you use the live liner, or leave the spool open or closed?

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  Год назад

      @@Flahmas i use the live liner for all those species. Set your main drag, turn on the live liner, and just reel down when you see cats or carp taking off.
      For gar you have to set the hook pretty hard

    I have 4 battle combos from 6.5ft to 9ft fished them all over the gulf coast and east coast. I have never lost a fish due to the reel or rod. Ever. Redfish, black drum, specs, snook, grouper, sail cats, hard heads, black tips, bonnet heads, sheeps, 6 diff snapper species, jack crevalle……….never had an issue. Great reliable affordable gear.

    I know it’s a bit more $ but I highly recommend trying out the Penn slammers. They are bullet proof. Also the spinfisher is a good in between as far as the Penn line goes.

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  10 месяцев назад

      I’ve heard good things about the Slammer. As far as I know the slammer doesn’t have a live liner model does it?

  • @GhettoFabulous670

    Idk about the sealed bearings. But my fierce only has ONE sealed bearing and thats up at the pinion gear. As for the my battle, its sealed bearings all around from the side plates to the pinion bearing.

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  5 месяцев назад

      That would explain the price difference

      @@BitesandStrikesFishing on top of that, the fierce would always get stiff after or during use. I don't know why, I've always rinse my reels everything I'm done using them. But just does. I sold it and kept the battle, sold the battle and bought another battle 6000 for my medium heavy

      @Many100videos interesting, I have about 4 Fierce and I never wash them at all. They get very beat up and I never have any issues. But I also don’t have issues with my Battle.

    I have purchased and used both of these reels. Only for saltwater applications commercial fishing use. The battle 3DX 6000 The DX has upgraded main pinion. My battle 3DX has fished 3 commercial seasons an stood up pretty well, reliable reel for the money. The fierce is an okay reel. But for anybody that is looking at these reels to purchase my opinion would be spend a little more money and get a Slammer if you want to stay with penn. The Daiwa BG is a much better made and durable. if you're looking for a live liner feature save your money and buy a Shimano d baitrunner drag is much much smoother oscillation is much better and the drag also. all in all I would much rather spend a little more money and get more longevity dependability & performance. But like he said in the video personal preference fishing Styles and locations freshwater saltwater both are affordable options is my take on those two

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  Месяц назад

      Very well said. I haven’t tried the BG yet but the one down side of the Shimano is the reel has less line capacity than the Penns. The Fierce is the budget option for sure.

    Truthfully not that big of a difference and I hear the fierce is a over priced pursuit

    • @BitesandStrikesFishing
      @BitesandStrikesFishing  9 месяцев назад +2

      I haven’t personally used the pursuit but I have friends with it. 1 big differences between the pursuit and the Fierce is the Fierce has a metal frame and the pursuit is graphite. There are a few other features the Fierce comes with internally that the pursuit doesn’t. But at half the cost the pursuit is a solid reel.
