I believe she was 17 on Eurovision. I think she was quite nervous during this performance and the studio version was better. The song is great though :)

That’s so young! She held it together quite well for being so young and nervous!

Love this song so much! Did you know, whilst they were filming the music video, Safura almost drowned after getting caught up in her dress whilst doing the underwater scene 😬

I actually did not know that. I’m so glad she didn’t! I haven’t seen the video but now I feel compelled to go watch it 😅

I hadn't listened to this in full for the longest time, I'd completely forgotten about the "You smell like lipstick" line 😄

😂 honestly smell was an important sense in 2000s R&B. That’s how you know someone cheated, they smelled like something they shouldn’t have smelled like 😂

This was actually my Auntie's first Eurovision. As she's South African, I remember my granmother telling my uncle to switch the channel over so we could watch Eurovision, and my Auntie asked what it was. She was amazed by the size of the crowd and the production value, saying stuff like "This is so cool, man", "We really don't have anything like this back home", "Look at that crowd", "Are those lights in her dress?", and asking questions. I remember it was May 29th, too, because it was my Uncle's birthday and he had sat down to watch with us (when he normally wouldn't) because my Auntie wanted to watch.
So, whenever I watch this performance, I think back to all of that and seeing my auntie react to this really weird contest for the first time. Also, my uncle dubbing Safura's dress as "the avatar dress" because of how it resembled the Naavi in the film XD

LOL I've never seen "Avatar" but I've seen enough clips that I can totally picture it. That's a cool story! I love how listening to Eurovision Songs can bring back specific moments in a person's memory so vividly.

@@JordanDavisEurovision Before 2010, my Uncle never really watch Eurovision with me and my Grandparents, but after that I think he's watched most years over the past decade because my Auntie likes watching. He's slowly gotten into it more and more each year, and I love how that one memory started their Eurovision journey together, cos I know very well that he wouldn't of gotten into Eurovision if he never met my Auntie.

Ah, yes, azerbaijan, the country that somehow managed to win with their worst song. Every single song they sent this decade was better.
Drip drop very much included. While it isn't my winner this year, it's high placement is very much deserved.

Haha I'll share my opinion on that when we get to 2011 reactions, but I agree about Drip Drop, definitely a deserving 5th place entry.

It's great song, but I don't like how she performed it live. Coreography was hilarious, especially when she start running and spinning and everything looks like she hasn't enough time to do everything she wants... Everytime I watch this I think she will fall now... 😄

That’s valid lol. I really like it! But now that you mention the last part I can’t help but picture her hoping to get all of the moves in before the end of the song 😆.

@@JordanDavisEurovision just generic basic pop. not my style. (also lets not even talk about those awful vocals its like she is screaming). generally azerbaijan always sends that kind of songs and im always mad they rank so high. i just wish they would send a more ethnic azeri song for once
