    Robert thank you for sharing this training with us. I lost my Dog over 30 years ago due to food poisoning. I never been the same. I suffered so much for the brutal way they used to kill my dog. After that incident I haven't been able to own another dog. It was like loosing a family member. I still upset still today. Thank you again for the work you do.

      Agueybana- I hear you. Someone just poisoned my 3 y/o beautiful healthy 116# Ridgeback. The poor girl suffered a horrendous death. They did not use an anticoagulant poison and the Vet missed it. Her CBC blood work looked Okay, and we started her on a penicillin shot with oral antibiotics. Bottom line is that it was just a horrible experience watching such a sweet dog drop 35#'s in 6 days of vomiting and unable to take fluids or food. She passed after 6 days.
      I swear...There is a Special Place in Hell for a coward who poisons a pet , or any animal other than rats.
      Such a cowardly act. In any case. I think the key is proper training and many cameras of a top quality video surveillance system.
      Anyone who tries it again on my next dog, the video will be all over the Internet and TV. I won't take revenge. I'll let the Animal PITA Activist give it right back to the SOB. And get the SPCA to help me prosecute the hell out of them.
      Between that and their Instant Karma, I am sure that they will forever regret their actions. At that stage, maybe they will get the "courage" to confront me. I'd love for that to happen. But I seriously doubt they would ever have any courage. Pure cowardly POS's poison someone else's pet.

    I have only ever seen the "leave it" method, which works if you're always there, but of course wouldn't help if someone threw poison food into a yard. One question, what happens if you have to board the dog or have someone come in to take care of the dog?

    • @anayakey822
      @anayakey822 2 года назад

      That's what I was wondering, but you could probably add an "okay" command. Plus if boarding, the dog will have to eat at some point. So it's survival instinct will EVENTUALLY kick in if it's being starved.

      I'm by no means an expert & I know question was directed at Robert. But I thought I'd share my recent experience, I'm starting PPD training with my dog & the dog has a long line attached to a pinch and the decoy is giving commands to a dog during suspicious scenarios, if the dog obeys then correction through the collar. You don't want your dog to listen to suspicious people.

    Today is August the 7 and it is 4:24 pm and I have a gentleman shepherd and my nextdoor neighbor want to feed him hot dogs.
    And I don't usually feed him table food just dog food so how can I teach him not to take from strangers..
    I don't have a shock collar for him.
    And I am on a budget and have to do things month by month.
    And he never eats out side I only feed him in the house and he stay in side not out side .
    And people want him.
    And my nextdoor neighbor is feeding him food .why I don't know and don't want to assume he will take him.
    And he barks at everyone that goes by and when there are other dogs he goes crazy and cat.
    And things that moved he goes crazy.
    So what do I do about that.

      Make sure you are talking to a professional trainer if Robert does not reply, plus a trainer has to be on sight to see the dogs reaction and tell you what level to use. Different companies have different feelings for different levels. For this training session I suggest you do what they are doing and have a trainer help you with this situation.

      @Happy.Accident. 3 года назад +4

      Under typical circumstances, you wouldn’t leave food in the dish. If the dog doesn’t eat at the time of feeding, you take the bowl away and feed when they’re hungry.
      During the training process, such as in this video, you’re only placing a piece of a high reward item, therefore, the dog will consume the reward and the bowl will be empty.

Put th3m in a sealed container and do a walk around the tree and they would get shocked if they were to want to eat it.

    Hello Sensi Robert.
    Your are the best trainer I've ever watched.
    I have a really important question.
    1 have a 4 year old intact male mal.
    I took in a fixed basket case of a rescue malinois 7 month old female.
    My male wanted nothing g to due with her the 1st month.shes now 10 months.
    Now there playmates although her energy is too much for him at times.
    Now he found out she's a female.
    Now He trys to mount her but she's not game for it.and I don't want it too happen.4 year old Dempsey is a virgin
    Please advise.
    Last question.
    This female is a hi drive dog and very dominant.
    I think she might trying to take the alpha spot from my male.
    Should I let nature take its course on the alpha situation?
    Or reinforce and back up Dempsey.
    He checks her when need be.
    But I see in her eyes and reaction that's she actually thinks for a second to actually fighting back.
    Sorry for the long winded message.
    Thank you for all you do.

    Question. The concept of getting the dog to only eat from mom and dad makes sense. But the person helping do this training is obviously not gunna be a random person. So if they’re helping me I trust them to feed my dog. Roommate. Parents ect. Trusted people. But how do you get the dog to know the helper isn’t bad and that they can take food from them without completely undoing the training? I get this is one piece to the whole thing. I just want to learn as much as possible.

    Is this not problematic if you die and he goes to a shelter or if you have to leave your dog with friends for a couple days?

  • @ernaldaes4300
    @ernaldaes4300 3 года назад +3

    Quite a lot of dogs died in a park near here, because people are putting rat poison/food.
    Didn't see any negative comments, but the people who would be "OmG tHe Poor DoG" are the ones doing nothing and letting their dog die because of negligence.
    It's our duty as an owner to protect our dog, the same way we would protect a kid. If they do something stupidly dangerous, they should be punished so they learn.

      Eh, I have a malinois and I taught her to stop eating random things on the ground with the same method. If anything, it's easier since they're smarter. You'll probably have to work with them 1 at a time though, just like with anything else.

    This is the "learned helplessness" experiment.

    • @dogsfromthecity
      @dogsfromthecity 3 года назад +10

      Learned helplessness would be to shock a dog at all times without giving the dog a way to avoid the shock. The dog is learning a tough lesson, but owners are there to show him a better option.
