Thank you for sharing this. You gave me the confidence to do it myself and all went well.

very nice video Mike! I have the AquaPlus Panel and I had purchased the Wifi Router and Wifi Antenna to get my AquaPlus panel smart. Until I just watched your video, I have recently returned those items on amazon (nearly the same price as the retrofit kit, yikes) and purchased this Retrofit kit and about to tackle this upgrade out in a few days. My only confusion is that I have a Hayward 250 heater currently hooked into my AP panel, I'm assuming it will understand it is there and now manage my heater. Since you don't have a heater, you may not know that answer. I guess I will soon find out. :) thank you again for taking the time to film this, seems easy and well documented.

I do have a heater, but it's not controlled through the panel since its not a hayward unit. There were areas where heaters can hook into, and configuration during setup to enable heaters... shouldn't be a problem.

Does this come with the capability to control your pump, heater, and lights via an app for smartphone? I’m assuming it does since it has WiFi. Any chance you could do a little video if you are using that feature?
    Great video

Yes it controls hayward compatible lights. It does have heater control but I don't have a hayward heater so I have to control that separately. It has all sorts of controls and integrations.

Thanks for the video. Where did you see that you need an additional transformer if upgrading the ecommand? I read through the install and can't find any reference to it.

    • @MikeZimmermanOfficial
      @MikeZimmermanOfficial  Год назад +1

Interestingly, the install manual that Hayward posts on their website is NOT the same the actual retrofit comes with. It's mentioned on pages 9-12 of the actual hard copy installation manual. I'll try to post a link to photos of the pages in the description fo reference.

I believe the old board had the transformer integrated into the board and the new one didn’t have one integrated so had to supply it separately

I don't know all the specifics, but I think it depends on which version you're retrofitting as to whether it has a transformer or not. The Ecommand did not.

Great video , would you mind posting the product number for the OmniPL Retrofit Kit? On Haywayrd's website I see the following HLPROUPG. On other websites I have seen HLXPROUPG. Trying to see if both are compatible with ECOMMAND 4 or one.
    OmniPL™ Retrofit Kit: HLPROUPG - $1,299.95
    OmniPL™ Retrofit Kit: HLXPROUPG - $1,499.00
Pricing seems to be more or less the above that I have found. Thanks

HLXPROUPG is what I ordered, yes. Keep in mind you'll need a transformer also if you have the ecommand 4. Part # is GLX-XFMR can be found on amazon.

hi, can you tell me what kind of lights you have? I have the hayward colorlogic 4.0 . I have the aquaplus controller , it controls my lights now, in the omniPL instructions it says (If the control is using networked colorlogic lights, the lights must be put into "standalone(default) mode before disconnecting the control). Did you have to do this ? Or do you know if i would have to do this? Been looking everywhere. Oh by the way nice video, thanks for doing this. helped out alot!!

@@cyborg1117 great to hear!!! I installed mine today and everything works perfectly except the lights… when I power them on they turn on for 10 seconds then shut off… no matter what program, show, fixed, or “type” (UCL, Colorlogic 4.0…etc) they turn on for about 10 seconds then they shut off, every time, and they stay off until I turn them off and back on :(

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me or give me some pointers to try and fix this light issue I have.
I got the OmniPL retrofit kit and installed it on my ProLogic panel and everything works great except the lights… when I turn them on they turn on for about 10 seconds then they turn off and stay off. I tried different shows, fixed lights, modes (UCL, CL 4.0 etc) and it does the same thing. What could be causing this?
I followed the instructions to a T. Also, when the lights turn on they always turn on to a dark violet/pink color and nothing else, I hit red, blue, green, white and none work… only the violet/pink color. Also, my lights are ColorLogic 4.0. 2 pool lights and 2 spa lights, appear to be all wired to the same relay. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

It would appear the he is using the Omni plus only for automation. There is no flow connection or salt cell connection plugged in in his panel. I also bet he did not need that transformer since he is not using the cell from this system. Basically just a pricey on off switch for lights and pump. Indeed the yellow wires were never actually connected to the board. Again I suspect he didn’t need the transformer. I may be wrong but I think the yellow wires are to power the cell he is not using.

    • @kello711

@@MikeZimmermanOfficial where? It isn't plugged in during the video. At 28:00 minutes you connected the provided connector to the yellow cables but then tucked it all away. They should have plugged into the main board. Although, I think the yellow wires are for powering a SWG which I'm assuming you don't have since you didn't plug one into the front after you put the cover on. That is what the open spot in the cover is for.
