We need a show that showcases OG Talent whereby artists would sing their own songs which in turn would increase their chances of going viral and improve future success. I propose a show called OGT
The music industry has its own business formula and its not based on talent as much as we the music fans would like to think. Its a package that is about image, stage presence, the willingness to give up ownership and rights to their work and at times even their stage name etc. Than there is the genre and also getting the right song writers, the producer and the talents on the recording end of things. Thats why there are plenty of one hit wonders. People who wrote a hit song and than just disappear after that massive one hit. Very few genuinely grow beyond the point where they become too big to be shackled by the music industries business model, do not rely on their publicity network to promote their newest albums and have enough stage and fan clout to dictate their own terms. Prince morphing into The Artist Formerly Known As Prince was an eye opener into what the music industry really is.
