    Can you please show me in the Bible, where it says that you cannot wear a crop top, leggings, or fitted clothing. The Bible does not give these specifications when it comes to modesty. This is what man has decided is immodest due to misogynistic views and judgement. I have an amazing relationship with Christ, and I completely comfortable wearing crop tops and shorts and leggings at appropriate times.

      I like how you say “where does it says crop top, leggings or fitted clothes.” That’s like me saying show me where it says not to use fentanyl but many of us do not use it because we know the harmful effects and that would be destroying our temple. If you don’t like old time modesty- just say that but don’t sit here and play on words like your REALLY going to find a specific, call out scripture for clothes we wear now vs. during Victorian periods and earlier.

    I’m sorry but I’ll have to disagree. We definitely have to start speaking truth and judging our brothers and sisters with righteous judgement to help them (not bashing them). But yeah right is right and wrong is wrong. Even in the gym, as a Christian we shouldn’t be wearing bras and tights. (I’m 19 and still struggling with modesty as well. Not because I believe it’s not wrong, but because I know it’s wrong and I’m struggling to let that worldly part of me go). The closer you get to God the more your views change into his and you’ll be after his heart not yours. Modesty is cover skin and not have clothes hugging your body. You can still be cute and modest without every curve presented. But we cannot sit here and try to bend the Bible into our perspective and teach it, that’s a dangerous game. Your leading others astray and to whom much is given much is required. Our bodies are temples of the Lord and for our husbands. Not eye candy to whatever man we happen to pass. Please sister we gotta do better. Yes I said we because I’m not perfect and I struggle with the very same thing.

    Y'all modesty means not being too loud and proud about one's self abilities. The synonyms for modesty are humble, humility, meekness, etc. If you dress for vanity purposes, regardless if covered or midriff, then you are not being modest at all.

  • @daughterofgod777
    @daughterofgod777 11 месяцев назад +24

    To be a Christian is not to have "your version" of modesty. Gods version of modesty is to "be ye holy, as your Father in Heaven is holy", (1 Peter 1:5) and "be set apart". If holiness is your aim, then naturally the Holy Spirit will lead you away from wearing things that show off every curve and skin that fosters lustful thoughts.
    Matthew 5 says if you lust after a woman, you've committed adultery in your heart. So if we LOVE our brothers as we say we do, then why make it easy for them to lust? Why help perpetuate an already overly sex crazed society? We are not to conform to this world but be transformed. And this goes to men too that wear tight clothes to show off their gym gains. Woman lust too.
    Does revealing, form fitting clothes make one think of God? No. The Bible says, "whatsoever you eat, drink and do, do ALL to the glory of God"
    It is a spirit of vanity, self exaltation and even pride that would make a Christian believe that this attire is holy, not the spirit of God.
    When the heart is truly submitted to living the will of our Creator and not self, the external appearance will follow, and justifications for these clothings will fall away.
    Lets be transformed by the renewal of our minds. Jesus is coming soon!

      You’re right. My issue is that it’s difficult to navigate when men can be sexually attracted to your face, your hands, any part of you, and that some women’s shapes can’t be hidden no matter how loose their clothing. And I don’t think women dressing like men is the answer either. Not to mention men have hit on me when I did. Men have lusted after me online when I didn’t have a profile picture up. They can be intrigued by the ‘mystery’ too.
      I believe in dressing modestly, and I constantly reflect on how I wanna dress in the future, because I do love and trust God, but I don’t think we can, realistically, take full responsibility for a brother stumbling when these men have the spirit of lust on them, they don’t pray enough and they don’t learn to avert their eyes and hold those thoughts captive.
      That said, I do think we should all be more honest with ourselves about our intentions behind how we dress

    Under no circumstances is a crop top modest. Wear one if you want to, but don't claim modesty on it.
    It's also funny how you say don't have this old lady church mentality and judge people but then say if someone feels like wearing the dress with only a nipple cover they might want to check their relationship with Christ.

    I never felt that the older generation of women in church were being judgmental but simply teaching me about modesty. Having a shawl or cloth to cover your legs if your skirt is a little short when sitting in the pew was and still is modest to me. Now that’s what the Holy Spirit revealed & convicted to ME. I’ve never been one to flaunt my body (I’ve always had a big butt for my frame) butt my mom taught me to cover it to avoid men staring. I can still look cute and be covered. My husband will sometimes check me if I’m wearing something he deems a little too revealing or will catch a man’s eye. I don’t feel controlled by that but covered by his love and protection.

Though we are in the dispensation of grace dosen't not mean we are to go out there and look like the world bcus of our personal style. If its immodest it's just immodest. No one should ever wonder if you are a woman of God and that's why the world takes us for a joke. You never have to ask whether or not a Muslim is a muslim whether man or woman. This is for both men and women who proclaim to be believers practicing believers at that. This generation needs to remember that the tone has been set, he is the same yesterday today and forevermore. You cannot come making your own rules just becus this generation is more acceptable. There is a reason we are to carry ourselves in a way that brings glory to God. And guess what if you cant go to Church with it then you shouldn't be wanting to go out into the world with it. Becus the body is the Church. Put some respect on Jesus's name and stop doing what you please. Like the songs being played. These songs dnt uplift jesus or bring anyone closer. We ought to study his word and do as he pleases. God bless

    Modesty is not just clothes it is a mindset. You are modest because you are supposed to be separate from the world and obedient to God. So please check your hearts and intentions behind why you put on those clothes👀❤️
    Of course it doesn’t say “don’t wear leggings” but does the Bible need to say “don’t do crack” for you not to do crack??? And since it didn’t list a particular TYPE of DRUG that mean that drug is NOT PROHIBITED ???Like that’s the logic she just used. There is a thing called righteous judgment. Trust me there were a lot of things I was doing wrong and if people didn’t righteously judge me I would still be doing those wrong things. Not directed at the girl wearing a crop top but for this topic in general…
    I think the issue is that people want to be half way in the world and half way in the church and that’s not how it works. Hopefully we get over this being offended and trying to justify our actions when it’s written plain and clear in the scripture and also not being convicted over something doesn’t automatically make it not a bad thing. Once you grow in Christ you will see that you are out of order. I pray these young women receive wisdom to help them make better choices ❤️

    "Don't judge someone because they sin differently than you."

  • @svnnahtafireyi
    @svnnahtafireyi 3 месяца назад +3

    It’s so sad, how we coin feedback as judgment. Nobody can tell anyone the truth and I’m saying this as a GenZ. People in my generation, just cannot take the truth without saying "oh well, you’re judging me." There is a difference between right and wrong. We can’t blur the lines between everything because it may rough people up. If people in your life refuse to tell you the truth, they don’t love you. Obviously there's a way to convey the truth. I'm not dismissing people being disrespectful or rude. That's sinful as well. But if people in your life don't tell you the truth, those people are not believers and they do not love you.
    There’s no “version” of modesty. Modesty is modesty, simple. We don’t all get “personal versions” of modesty. I tried biker shorts on recently and although they were long and I planned to wear a big hoodie, I did not feel comfortable and I felt the Holy Spirt saying no. Deep down, I knew it was immodest and that’s why I didn’t buy them. I was on my college campus and it was heartbreaking to see all these girls walking around in glorified undergarments and some of them claiming to be believers. We all know what modesty is. I’m not saying that we need to cover our ankles and knees. But showing cleavage, torso, and your bum isn’t modest. If we were to walk into a room with Jesus, would he be proud of what we are wearing? For 99% of the outfits that I see both online and in person the answer is no. I had to drive three hours out to a boutique to find a pretty dress for my pictures. I was just talking to my other Christian girlfriends and they were just talking about how hard it is to find appropriate clothing that is cute and feminine. These clothes are being designed for a reason. As consumers, we influence supply and demand, and our spending choices influence the market. If we start buying more modest clothes, trust me, companies will start to manufacture and sell modest clothing. It’s sad to see the amount of tight, short, and intentionally exposing clothing that is being sold to young girls.
    You said “there’s plenty of ways to show skin.”Why as women should we even want to be showing skin? The term “personal conviction” is honestly being used as an excuse to not follow the Bible wholeheartedly. There are many instances in which I have worn athletic clothes to church. Sometimes I go straight to the gym or training afterwards and I have no place to change so I have to wear my athletic gear. I've never gotten weird looks because my outfits are modest, and appropriate in all settings. There's a big difference between clothes fitting an occasion and clothes not being modest. Let's not end up putting someone in hellfire because we want to lie to them. It's better to tell our fellow sisters the truth than to lead them down a path of destruction.

People try to choose what they want to be modest, but anything that brings too much attention to you’re flesh or draw men to you in a to much lustful way, NOT MODEST. And on top of that, If it stops you from getting a Christian husband, that proves it all

Men need to learn to keep it together but we should also not leave temptation. Cleavage should be covered, no peekaboo outfits (seeing a lot of peekaboo in baby swimwear), no shorts splitting your cheeks. I don't like men looking at my body so I wear a cardigan if I do wear a crop top. It is about your conviction but some people have no problem dressing like harlots so it is also about what pleases God.

Think, if Jesus was here, standing in front of you, would you really want him to see you with your stomach hanging out, skin tight short shorts, etc? If you crossed over, and stood in front of God, would you really say,”I don’t think modesty is what people say it is”, your opinion doesn’t change what GOD says! The only thing that gets me with people who talk about modesty is that they follow one part of it, but not all parts. The same Christians who will talk about a woman or man "showing skin" are the same ones who wear expensive attire, even if it's for their birthday They wear Gucci, Fendi, Prada, expensive jewelry, etc. They wear hair jewelry, color their hair, etc. The Bible also say not to do that, but everyone just focuses on the "showing skin". Also, showing skin is not sinful. The Word does say to be "shamefaced", but that doesn't mean that I can't show ANY of my skin. People take things too literally and way too extremely. The same women who will speak against "showing skin" are the same ones who don't cover their hair/heads in prayer and in church. You can't focus on one part and not the other. And as already mentioned earlier, modesty is instructed for both men and women in the Bible, not just one or the other.

    Modesty in Christianity means that you must wear non revealing clothing. If you really wanna get into traditional Christian dress for women you would be wearing a baggy full one peice dress long sleeves and wearing a veil. Men are expected to grow long hair and have beards and wear non revealing clothing. This is in multiple verses and the bible is clear that women need to dress modestly your legs should not be showing and nether is your stomach. Mens modesty and clothing is in levitcus 19:20. Timothy 2:9 mentions womens modestly expectations. If you wanna talk about traditional Christian modesty for men and women go to Africa or the middle east and go into a Assyrian Orthodox church and see how they dress. They dress like ancient Christians, men wear robes or baggy pants, and women wear dresses with a a veil. You may have a relationship with god he has one with everyone but you are not a Christian unless you act like one or dress like one. Many traditional churches wouldn't even let you in the building dressing like that. It may not seem like a big deal for you but the whole point of being Christian is to not be of the world. We do not follow modren worldy fashion trends. This is how many Christians are rasied and they will nag you on it which they should. Many Christians have fallen to the world and its trends such as pre martial sex, non modest dressing, drugs, and hate. You can come back from all that and leave it behind you but don't expect to be treated like a Christian if you don't dress or act like one.

    Nah, modesty is a heart posture. The problem is people make is all about clothes. It's about humility 1st and foremost. When you get closer to God, He changes your heart and as a result your desires and actions change. You do things to honor God and that includes how you dress. Lots of people dress to impress others or glorify themselves and not God. This can be done even if you're fully clothed. God looks at your heart above all else.

    That’s girl was not modest and modesty as a Christian should be base on what the Bible has to say about it.
    Sorry my dear, it’s God will be done , not my will be done.
    Yes , we all have personal style, but we as believers we can work on it; why being modest in the Lord eyes or according to God will.
    If you let the Holy Spirit leads , he will direct you on godly modesty.🫶🏾🙏🏾

    Do not be deceived; it is written clear as say that women are SUPPOSED to dress modestly. You know this first hand because didn’t your parent instill this in you growing up? They raised you in the ways of the Lord. Stop rebelling, stop worrying about what men do, and obey God.
