    Ok, so I'm going to answer my own question. For the S's, the order doesn't matter because it looks the same no matter which S is placed in any of the eight places. Therefore it is correct to say 8C4. It is equivalent to dividing 8P4 by the 4! repeats of S.

    why 8C4 instead of 8P4 for S? Arrangements are permutations, not combinations.

      if you take 8P4 then you have to take 4! in denominator for 4 S's like this (8P4/4!). And rather than taking this we can also take 8C4 which value is also same as 8P4/4!
      so if you take either permutation or combination the answer will be same .....

    When to take permutations and when to take combinations. In one of the question, you had taken permutations for the different spaces to be filled and here you have taken combinations.

      Respected sir, this is because in the word CLASS we had only one repeating letter 'S'. While in the word
      MISSISSAUGA we have 2 repetitions i.e
      2 A's and 2 I's and therefore we have divided by 2!×2!.

      If we try to to calculate for the word
      MISSISSAUGA by old method ( i. e total no. of arrangements less no. of arrangements in which S's are together ) correct ans is not being received :-
      11!/ 4!×2!×2!= 415800
      S's together= 8!/ 2!×2!
      = 10080
      And 415800-10080= 405720, while the correct ans is 88200.
      What' s the reason ??
      How to calculate for the word Mississauga
      By old method ????

    Wrong solution
    Wrong combination
    It will be 4C8 not 8C4
    Hence it cannot be applied here
    Answer will be 33810
