This was my favorite part of the whole game. Always love seeing Shadow and Omega together, plus just the whole atmosphere. Cool lava level, great design, awesome music, and a pretty fun boss. I think this is what the majority of players saw too, if they only played through the game once. The "Shadow Android" ending. Good enough for me, lol.
What I find quite interesting is how the neutral path as a whole is sort of an antithesis to the concepts presented by the game, makes sense, considering doing involves ignoring all the missions and just playing the game like a normal sonic game, this is reflected in the narrative, both gun and, after sky troops, the black arms are almost completely absent in this run, with the only major player being eggman, the entire neutral path feels like a direct continuation of shadow’s story in heroes, continuing down that path of doubting his identity and seeking answers from eggman. This path’s plot is a lot more sonic-like in nature, much simpler than the other paths, and the later levels of the path are a lot more sonic-like as well(mainly sky troops and lava shelter) and they don’t tend to focus too much on the missions or on the game’s unique mechanics, more so expanding and improving elements from previous games(mainly rails). This entire path’s disconnect from the rest of the game feels like you’re defying the game itself, and it’s reflected in the story, westopolis’ normal mission is the only one where black doom is displeased with the result, telling shadow that he deliberately disobeyed him, even in the hero mission where you actively kill all the black arms in westopolis he’s still cool with it. And later on the factions unique to the game vanish from the story entirely, leaving just shadow, omega, and eggman, heck, this is the only path that doesn’t really give any closure to the conflict between the humans and black arms, the story just kind of disappears after sky troops, and a new one takes it’s place.
Ya know the reason of Shadow Fever's existence makes sense with the Shadow Android story, considering Shadow Androids can probably perform Chaos Blast.
I've heard about a rare instance that in the boss battle, Eggman launches a missile at himself as an 'opening attack' "Get ready to witness my latest and greatest creation... What?! W-Wait! Abort launch!" LOL!

I think that swindling Knuckles into making him give him the Chaos Emeralds to power up his robot from Sonic X, wreaking havoc on Prison Island, brainwashing everyone into purchasing those sunshine orb things to save money, and transforming Sonic into a nightmarish creature when the full moon is out while unleashing dark forces from the earth as it's been divided into different continents sounds like a pretty good motive to send him to hell to begin with, if you ask me.

@MarioMastar Yeah, it doesn't make any sense on a lot of places Eggman was. There are a few (like the stages you pointed out), but I think they should of done a little more effort into making Eggman a good story. He is the grandchild of Shadow's creator, so it should make a more character development :S

Omega is probably my favorite NPC in this game. Kind of annoyed how Sonic/Knuckles/Tails/Rouge just blindly followed GUN after GUN tried to kill them. Omega's revenge arc was hilarious though.
Honestly, instead of the whole "kill stealing through stock footage" way this ends, I'd have had Shadow stand aside and give Omega what he wants by finishing off Eggman. I was thinking something like: _______ Shadow: Finally... I've got all the Chaos Emeralds. Eggman: You ungrateful machines... I made you. I brought you into the world! And this is how you repay me...?! Shadow: I am Shadow Android, the ultimate battle life form, created by Dr. Eggman. It’s kinda weird for this to be the Neutral Hero ending when both the Neutral Dark ending and the Semi-Dark Hero ending feel less evil than this ending.

I think this story in particular needs a sequel. Sonic has to take down the Eggman Empire now ruled by Shadow, who thinks he's an android, and Shadow must stop Sonic AND deal with Black Doom. And maybe add Silver coming from the future to stop Shadow from ruling the world in the first place. It would make a much better game than Sonic 06.
