  • This is my Dad's old Laser 45 in a Wot4 which has been standing in his workshop for the last 10(ish) years. The engine itself dates from between 1986 and 1988 so it is doing well.
The carburettor was seized so I had to strip it and free it up.
It starts first time but the idle is set too low so as soon as I disconnect the glow it stops. There is a strange squealing noise which goes away once I have forcibly oiled the engine and allowed it to warm up.
I am running it on Model Technics Irvine Sport 5, which is a 5% nitro fuel.

Found out what the squeaky noise was. The prop was not on tight enough and was slipping.

I could have told you that! It's a common problem with four-strokes.
