I have wrestled with which chords to play on this song for as long as I've been playing it! Thank you for breaking it down and suggesting those alternate chords to add. Many folks do the descending vamp in the bridge, yet many are tied to the RB changes as they were. I like to play Am7(b5) up until the D7 - speaking as a bassist here and only during the solos and not necessarily every time. This tune seems to invite multiple interpretations. That Wynton Kelly intro on the Miles version is rather iconic and I miss it when it's not attempted. Thanks again.
Starts with basic harmony, to the flow of the melody, to tweaks on the harmony and viola! You have a complete song to further play with. Add to all these the applicable music theories and how to interpret them. Your videos are all winners, by themselves. No wasted time in the brief explanations, too. Surefire method. Hope you maintain your trademark teaching formula. Thank you so much!
Who cares, i never heard a recorded version that use the real book changes....it's a loose and relaxed melody, there is a lot of space for reharmonization and different interpretations..
Ah thank you! Our teacher just brought us this tune to play with the band. Happy to see your analysis.
Good analysis; now i will try to play it.
