so why does compass needle not get deflect when i keep it below cable or wire
of home appliances?

Simple answer: because you haven't replicated the method accurately. I assume that your home appliance is using alternating current not direct current. So you are not seeing the effect. But it's happening; at a rate so fast the needle isn't able to respond fast enough. Also in home appliances you have two wires carrying current. These are in opposite directions, what effect do you think that has?.....

That's a very good question. Sorry, that I can't fully answer as generously as it deserves; but it explains an effect which occurs everywhere there is matter, in the universe, happening everywhere, from how your eyes detect light right through to how the universe makes light in the first place; even how your fingers move to type stuff and it enables people to think.... "what could I use this for?" :)
