I picked up a used Ariens 34 ton log splitter, no regrets. Bigger is better!
Oregon as well as all other kinetic splitters are copies of the SUPER SPLIT. I own both the super split hd and a craftsman 27 ton hydraulic. I split 95% of my logs with the supersplit and hate going back to the hydraulic as it is painfully slow. Will the hydraulic split everything that I throw at it, yes. Will the supersplit? 95% of the time. I have split some naaaasty knots and crotches with the supersplit, you just may have to hit it a couple times, which is still faster than the hydraulic. If I can't split it on the supersplit, I have no business trying to split it to sell anyway. I do keep those logs for the hydraulic to play around with though. ONLY upside to the hydraulic in the regular homeowner type, (not timberwolf size with log lift) is the vertical split option for logs that are 30+" diameter. I lift most everything less than that up to my supersplit table which is hooked up to a conveyor. If you go the kinetic route, I highly recommend a conveyor set up for the end of the splitting table, as the amount of wood that would pile up would be needing to be moved if you just want to slide it off of the table. I don't bother wheeling the conveyor over to my hydraulic because it would be a waste of gas in the conveyor compared to the speed of the hydraulic. Another bonus to the kinetic splitter is the fuel efficiency. Since it cuts logs like a hot knife instead of brute force, it just sips gas. I have a honda gas motor on both the supersplit and my conveyor and can split for 5 plus hours on a single tank of gas. This usually yields about 5 cords of wood as i tend to split a cord an hour with the super split by myself as long as i have the rounds staged nearby. The supersplit and conveyor gas tanks are only 1 gallon capacity each. So for 2 gallons or roughly $5 in gas at this point in time, I can split 5 cords of wood. Supersplit is a legitimate, professionally used, commercial splitter. It has waaay less maintenance than my hydraulic splitter as you don't need to worry about hydraulic fluid or hoses or filters. Only wear items that may eventually wear out are the bearings that the rack rides on if you don't clean the beam off every now and again. The return spring will probably wear out eventually. The rack and pinion are design and hardened to last for years and years without even bothering to look at it. People are still using original rack and pinions after splitter over 1000 cords of wood. I would not hesitate to buy another as it is a full production machine. I am not associated with super split, just offering my experience. Happy splitting!
I agree with you the Super Split is great. We have used one for 30 + years and replaced the engine last year . Aside from that only routine maintenance. Great machine.
May we have the price?
Wow! stuntman! but you're a professional firewood cutter, that's different than most of us! I loved the speed of the kinetic splitters but sometimes have rounds 40" across! We bought the yardmax 35 ton and the wife can't keep up stacking as fast as I'm splitting.
Update...my supersplit was a fantastic machine and didn’t have a single issue with it. When I went out and cut the logs, I had control over the size diameter I fed it. I have since been getting loads of logs from tree companies so I lost that control. I am now getting large logs that I couldn’t lift onto the high work surface of the Supersplit so I sold it and bought a built rite 11hpws with log lift, hydraulic adjustable 4 and 6 way wedge, auto cycle, and honda motor. I honestly can’t feed it fast enough. It now suits my needs. Who knows what will be next???
I bought the 25 ton county line log splitter from tractor supply and has never let me down yet. Most of the other brands I looked at didn’t even come with hydraulic fluid. Also starts first pull every time!
Thanks
I have the same older model, keeps an eye on where the head of the ram attaches to the splitting head as well as the large bolt that connects the ram to the body of the I-beam. The flexing of those parts while splitting start to wear in to the metal on both ends.
@Randy She Good thinking Randy, I will start doing that!
This time I will do it manually with the help of Woodglut designs.
Great, it looks very useful!
Glad to hear that! ❤❤❤
Split-fire from Ontario,Canada anything from small job splitter to attachment’s to tractors and skid steer all hydraulic!!!
Have 30 oak trees in my backyard garden. What log splitter would you recommend? Also, I don't forsee myself using it after this job. Would you sell or rent it?
Rent for a day
get atleast a 30 ton spliter i just did Sum green red oak last week had to rent a spliter. a min 25t should get you threw it. Cost was 70 from local hardware store. and the 24 he rental with working alone got 3 cord worth split.
I have the yardmax 35 ton, been using it two years now and not a hick-up! I have been cutting 38"x20" fir with pie pan knots and this machine walks right through them. No way could I musel logs like that on to a kinetic splitter. My wife can't keep up with the stacking right now, don't know how i could use anymore speed.
I don’t know if you’ll see this but I’m torn between this one and the 25 ton county line log splitter
@@aguileratreeservice9189 I think that's a good splitter, actually had one, the main reason I went to the yardmax was the price, tractor supply had them for $1200 (the 35 ton). Yardmax are built very tough and the price was right.
@TRASK STONE. Most of the this CHINA crap lasts the 2 years it's when ya get beyond that when the paint fades 4-5 years later the thing is a piece of crap and ya call around for parts and the idiots at 1800 eat shit number say we no longer service that brand or machine... Had it happen over and over again with tractor supply junk.... They give ya the phone number tread mill work out... Oregon is one of them companies don't buy anything from em.... All Chicom Junk
How would the Oregon kinetic splitter work with good old curly maple instead of half rotten pine. Not good I bet.
stay away from this kind of splitter
Yes was wondering how it would handle any kind of knotty timber.
I have a "super split" which is the same style and it has handled everything I can throw at it. Unlike a hydraulic splitter, you can take multiple hits at the knotty stuff. I'm super happy with it.
Yes I have the super split its really quick and will bust almost any round
Why would you want to piss around taking multiple hits at a tough piece of wood? My splitter splits blocks up to 500mm thick and up to 1.2m diameter in one pass. Log goes in one end and comes out the other in blocks ready to burn. All hydraulic by the way👍
my logger joe wedge broke at the welds and i dont know if it can be safely rewelded
Would love to see these kinetic wood splitters in twisted grain wood. They always use nice dry straight grain wood that could be split faster with a maul. also those electric splitters are a joke. BTDT not going back
Yeah it would interesting to see a wood splitter cut knot and twisted grain logs
I don't think that was Electric by the looks and describes it using less fuel.. Whenever they say USES LESS FUEL means its has substantial more PROBLEMS.
Just wish I had a fireplace !
It’s not as hard as you might think.
Get a big stainless steel fire pit like the Breeo or solo stove
Very nice sir what is the price of this machine₹‽
Check description
Just bought a Country Pro from L&M for $800 25-ton just used it today for the first time and it blows all of these on the video right out of the water
They sure do, I bought a 30 tons from TS and nothing has stopped it yet. Oak, Hickory, Black Locust, Elm...
Oregon log splitters are the best made!
Look at the construction of the yardmax, better than Oregon and half the price!
I like all of them
does it work on pieces with knots?
The Oregon log splitter is the easiest & quickest
Help !!! I know absolutely nothing about wood splitters. We have a log truck that drops a load off. Only would use it once a year to split the load of logs. Not sure what to buy. Would so appreciate any help. I'm a thinking shoes are easier to buy
Oregon log splitter is a very good wood splitter
Thinking
@@pammiestewart1419 What did you go with? We're in the same position. We just moved into a house with a fire for the first time and I'm finding a lot of the harder wood is impossible to split by hand, and I end up doing out my back. Need a quick and easy solution. Not fussed about the price.
I feel like the Oregon would just stop when splitting big oak logs, the wood they were using was so dry and weak
Perfect top! Thanks!
Just a collection of ads-total clickbait!
You could figure that out in the description!
i fucking hate "TOP xx" videos.. clickbait most of the time, with little to no information where most of the text is just repeating the same sentence. FUCK CAPITALISM!
Bro no cap 2 weeks ago I bought a south land
My only complaint with Yardmax is the tongue weight -- really heavy compared to others.
I put a trailer wheel unit on ours, yea for sure that tongue weight is a killer, I'm 70!
The Dirty Hands splitter is terrible. A neighbor had one, I used it quite a bit. Note the log catch table...and how logs can vibrate off and fall directly on the engine. Also, their design for the 4-way wedge sucks. Way overpriced. The bottom line splitter at Tractor Supply is way better.
Mike Groat I've got a 22 ton and am waiting for this thing to die already. As you said, pieces fall off the feed table constantly. I've broken by exhaust housing from it. It's not worth its weight in gold by any standard
Yardmax half beam is where it is at...same thing just less weight = lower cost...and wheels are more compact and protected
You will find out that a log splitter are not designed to pull behind a pick up truck it’s too hard on the motors do you beat up to death? They’re all they designed to pull behind a farm tractor. I bought a small trailer to haul it on much easier on the log splitter I just bought a new one. My old one lasted me 30 years and I don’t know how many cords of wood that I split with it I wore the cylinder out and two motors so I can say for so I can say from experience that’s the best way
Yesir
Can we get this machine in Indian plz
Why does everyone split the wood so small? I like them big so I can throw them in before work and have the house still warm when I come back 10 hours later.
I had a fisher stove at my ranch in Silver Lake Oregon that would take 30" stuff. Burned lodgepole pine there, would load the stove at night and open her up in the morning, it would take off like an old steam train. Yep less cutting is the best cutting!
I’ve watched numerous log splitter videos and haven’t yet seen someone trying to split the type of wood I typically see, Manitoba Maples, full of knots, stringy and massive. A kinetic splitter wouldn’t touch them.
whats the price difference also ?? if you only split 5 cord a year they aren't worth it !!
I cut down 5 trees this weekend. I can rent a log splitter for a 24 hour period for 85 bucks - Rather than the 1800+ purchase cost. Rental is cheap and easy
Mine is better than all of these. Hands down. Safer easier to use. Faster to get the job done. Tougher construction for a long long life! Mine is better. Jim in Chile.
4way wedge first i ever see
I'd say the Oregon & Yardbird are worthy of a few coins. The others are too damn slow!
I avoid all Briggs and Stratton engines... they have cheated out their engines with plastic carbs... too bad, they destroyed their brand
Yes, I bought the yardmax with a briggs, wish it had a honda engine but I've had no trouble in three years.
By far, the only unit here worth its' salt was the Champion, the rest, keep um. At least the Champ protects the motor with a good table & an additional one for the operators side of the machine. Personally I don't like vertical splitters because of the engine placement ( not protected ) in the horizontal position. Most splitting will be done in horizontal, therefore the engine gets positioned BEHIND the axle and/or hyd. reservoir. Little credibility to this video calling it Top 5 Best, hardly... The Champion came close.
On the kinetic type, Not a single knotty log. Yall a bunch of liars.
Beats the hell out of a splitting mull..lol
I used that green electric one back in the day and it broke in line 5 hours with small oak logs 😂
Correct me if I am wrong but that splitter was not set correctly on that ball @ 4:00
That's a nice tool I want one of them to in the commuter belt
This is just a lame advertisement vehicle. Waste of time watching it.
Lots of moving parts to break on the Oregon splitter.
Oregon log splitter
There seems to be one flywheel, one rack and pinion, an engine, connected to the flywheel with a belt, and the lever that drops the rack on the pinion.
Compare that to a hydraulic unit with a hydraulic ram which contains two sets of seals, the same engine, 4 or so hoses each needing to be sealed on both ends, an oil filter with a seal, an oil reservoir, and a hydraulic pump.
Both somewhat complex but not overly so. I would think the rack and pinion unit would do as well as the hydraulic unit, with a lot less chance of leaks.
But then you look at the cycle time difference and it's like five to one.
So, I guess make your own judgment.
Maybe? This ole Chinese elm is a gnarly mess of knots rock hard burls but I would try it!
All very fine an well.. but if you get a big knot in in the log I can jam up big time.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣!!!! I'll Keep my Timber Wolf TW 2 .
That logger Joe electric splitter now that's a joke
This splitters suck for commercial use. Might be good for the home owner. Too slow and weak for me.
Nobody will ever convince me to buy a kinetic log splitter
Why?
Is it really that hard to make what we want?
⅔2³222³3333³3³2nd 2
Anybody know who makes the "Champion" motor?
champion is a honda clone made in china, similar to the predator
Had a champion generator. Carburetor was constant trouble and stator went out after 75 trips too costly to repair. Chinese engine no comparison of quality to a Honda.
But that is American SOFT wood. Get some box and have a go.They won't split AUSSIE HARD WOOD.
Yes I fully agree! I've been splitting Iron Bark which has been down for over 4 years, I don't think those Kinetic splitter would work at all.
Most of the videos you see on RUclips are with soft wood.
I'm only a property owner, not in the business of selling firewood as a living, however we had to clear 3 Acres to build on, heavily wooded and selling it as I wouldn't get through all that firewood in 10 of my life times.
So the hydraulic 28 ton Oregon with Honda motor works for me.
All Australian Hardwood.
Haven't had any problems yet, touch wood.
@@vinceballam4002 Right on mate! (former Kiwi here) even here in Oregon we split out rounds 50 inches across full of pie pan knots 6 plus inches across. No way in the world one of those kinetic splitters would cut the mustard.
Wow so many grate log splitters for my wife where are the MANS splitter guess I’ll go look at Timberwolf log splitter’s built for man
William Babcock3 an axe is built for a man. ur looking for a log splitter so......i'm guessing u play the wife role
@@notafuckinpplperson8233 HA! Yeah, go sharpen the maul, "man."
The only good one was Champion, The rest were junk.
Sad,100% Chinese made crap
Oregon is better
@@beaunerh8478 Wish I could say the same but I can't, I've spent my life in the woods, have owned and wore out over 20 chainsaws. The place I'm in now here in northwest Oregon has 1 wood furnace and three wood stoves is around 5ksqft. I bought the Yardmax 35 ton splitter when my tenant, a professional danger tree remover started bringing me all types of wood, and a lot of it full of knots. So far I'm into my second year, split maybe 20 cords and not a problem. This thing is heavier built than many american made splitters, just look at the weight when making a comparison. No city guy here!
All these splitters are bullshit.
They don't tell you how to get a 200 Lb. 3 ft wide hardwood log ONTO the splitter.
In fact they never show you how fucking hard it is to get ANY big log onto one of these things.
They're okay for small stuff, but when you cut down a 100 ft tall hardwood tree in the middle of a forest, and the cut logs are 3 ft wide it's easier to just use a few axes or mauls and a sledge hammer.
Here in the Laurentiens there are so many massive boulders and steep hills: pulling one of these machines to the tree can be a bitch.
I see a huge way a kinetic splitter will fail
My 40 tonne millers falls is closest to the champion but with a bigger ram and engine. Super axe is my next step
couldn't pay me to own a rack and pinion splitter.
you got time for 13 second cycles?
@@devtrash my cycle times arent that long. Rack and pinion splitters just seem like they wouldn't last. Kind of like neutral dropping a car. They are definitely much faster than any other splitter.
@@davehimlin2374 seem like it would bust the gears up fast. Thats why I dont have one. Plus I like the control of hydraulic.
Couldn't pay me to own a hydraulic splitter.
@@TimberHog My Douglas fir rounds are often over 40" some with knots over 10", how would you load those on a kenotic splitter?
Not good on twisted hickory or knotted wood.
junk dont waster you time watching
How much price??
until you actually split real fire wood with knots- then you'll be wishing you had your 2-stage hydraulic back and tossing that pos in the scrap pile!
This is a joke
Log splitter features
An advertising video
Wood log splitter features and overview
Yeah right
Two hand operation? .... how do you drink a beer when you have to use both hands to split wood, I will stay with the old 27 ton green Craftsman.
Log splitter
I just use a toggle switch so no more using both hands
Splits faster than I can think.
Bunch of crap. Get a split fire two way splitter.
All of these Splitters are slow pieces of junk. The best damn splitters on the market are made by a company in Ontario Canada called Splitfire.
OMG those things look like something built in the 40s.
I work for split-fire best dam splitter I have ever seen!
How much this one?
way too many moving parts on the Oregon. hydraulics are FAR more reliable. their comparison is also a fucking joke. i don't know about others but i typically spend far more time loading logs and removing split pieces then i do actually doing the splitting so speed is really a non issue
Same here, we have a 35 ton yardmax, my wife can't keep up stacking.
Ye machine Milner ka pata chahiye
Top five worst log splitter 2019 ...
To many adds

U still can destroy this in a 30 hr period.
Wish i had a dreamland... Slow as f....

Every single one of those splitters are junk
👍👍👍👍🤑🤑
😝 Horribel speed
yes, that is
All junk !!!
before of 3 years i bought an oregon i use it only one time nothing more of me
ohh , are you satisfied ?
I bought plans from Woodglut and did it very quickly.
Every one of these splitters are junk
ok
