Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & I'll even say a very Happy New Year to our lovely cruise director, her date, and all fans of shopping malls be they dead, alive or just history existing in our memories. I miss the days of the wonderful smells of Karmelkorn, pretzels, mall pizza, and the long line to sit on Santa's lap. Along with all the Christmas decorations and hanging strings of always white Christmas lights in almost like a curtain style all malls used to have. Any other kids here from the 70s & 80s that remember the giant metallic gold colored castles you'd put a quarter in to listen to a story read to you thru a payphone receiver? If it sounds vaguely familiar google The Story Castle for a blast from the past.
Right?! Also making sure you could go to the arcade, check out the Kay-Bee Toys, and the gaming/computer sections of Sears/Montgomery Ward (had the former where I grew up), check out the cool electronics and computers at Radio Shack, BEGGING your mom the moment it was available to get you the Christmas catalogs for JCPenney/Montgomery Ward/Sears for the year. I miss those times..
I remember going to Huntington Mall 'back in the day' (I'm old), and it was so cool because it was the only mall I'd been to that 2 arcades. Both were the "Gold Mine" chain that had the exterior made up to look like an old, well, gold mine. One was on the right just before the cut at 9:08 I think.
@@Mom2my4blessings come to Australia, we still socialise and our malls are packed. Yes over the Christmas period good luck with finding a car park space.
My childhood mall is the only Cafaro mall on the west coast, and I have to agree that for a smaller mall owner they do a good job. That mall has been losing tenants for years but they keep finding new ones which has been impressive.
OK, the background music transition into “Lonely Rolling Star” from the Katamari Damacy soundtrack when you went into Miniso was kinda low-key brilliant. 😄
Sorry, I missed your premiere. Was working and getting ready for Christmas. Now that's after Christmas, I wanted to relax and indulge in watching your latest video. As always, you have such amazing content. I wish you a really amazing new year. May 2025 be a year of growth for your channel and more awesome videos from you.
Awww thank you Rachel! It’s been a crazy week for all of us and I am glad I was able to accompany you for chill time. Thank you so much, happy new year!
I was about to make a comment, "Yeah, but they won't be able to compete with Casey's pizza." Then you mention Casey's! I'd like to check out WaWa and Sheets, I've only had something that rhymes with shee... but we don't talk about that! "I know nothing about mayple syrup, ask the Canadians." LOL!!! Either one of those malls could totally be used to film a Christmas movie from the late 80s to the mid 2000s. Your video really captured the unique charm a single floor mall has!
Here in Lancaster Ohio there is the River Valley Mall and it has changed through the years. Only one original anchor store remained which is J.C. Penny. We even have an Hot Topic and much more I have also been to other malls. I just love looking at them to see what there is and man that is what I call crazy fans and I am an fan of Billy Ray Cyrus thanks fer the tours
Thanks for the tours! Huntington seems very cozy and Ashland has a very interesting futuristic concourse design. Have a merry Christmas!
You too!!
Awesome episode, Cruise Director! Merry Christmas!
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you Scott! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Kristin. Good to hear from you again 🎄❄️🤓
Merry Christmas!!!🎁🎄
These 2 are pretty well stocked and with a decent amount of people! Happy Holidays!

Love the video as always. You deserve so many more views and subs than what you have. It's just criminal.
Merry Christmas Kristin! 🎄🎅
You too Little Jenny 🎄🎅
Ooh, Big Loafer... I like when I learn of something that I didn't know I wanted. Ha.
Great video, keep up the good work!
Amazing video!
Getting one of your videos is a great Christmas gift Kristin. An open GNC? I thought all of those were gone.
Awww listen to you! ☺️
Most of the mall locations are gone but free standing ones are still around

That’s really cool! I miss the old school dark mall arcades
@@UniCommProductions Same, course I miss any of the "old school" mall stuff from the 80's.
Fantastic video as always Kristin!😸
Nice video!
It’s great to see thriving malls! 🎉 Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Kristin!
They can be pretty too!!
@@UniCommProductionsit reminds me of the olden days when people actually would go out and socialize. A rarity these days.
Thriving malls?

@ well, if you’re new here, the videos I typically make are about malls that are failing aka “dead malls”, so this was an unusual video for me

They seem to be doing their best in a really difficult situation.
It's a refreshing change to see 2 active malls. You mentioned the Ohio Valley Mall. Have you videoed there?
I haven't, it's a couple hours' drive from me but I do think I want to try and hit a few of the ones in Ohio I havent done yet in the spring.
Great Video! Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too!
"How much maple syrup would I have to drink before I can feel my blood?" That made my day! Also made me twitch a few time thinking about it.
I've been thinking about the Meadowbrook Mall recently. I have not been there in years and years.
That's one I keep meaning to check out; I passed by there back in October on my way home from PA but they weren't open yet because it was a Sunday.
@@UniCommProductions I grew up not far from there. It was built when I was in High School.
My grandparents were from Ashland, thank you for this tour! Merry Christmas!

I'm sorry my heart is with all the slaves that had to die for the rich people to get the money to build that mall
Slavery has been illegal in the United States since 1865! Not sure where you got that idea.
