@@magnustan841 i don’t think that’s exactly what he meant. I think he meant the sls amg will go down as one of the greatest Mercedes models ever made, iconic, timeless, compared to the GT.

Actually, GTR and GTR Pro have two additional exhaust pipes on the sides. Grey stuff you see at 7:11 under the reflectors is heat shielding for those pipes
Australia 🇦🇺 drinks more coffee ☕️ than any country on earth 🌍, Starbucks tried to take advantage of this but because the coffee was so bad and expensive in comparison with local offerings they left 😮
I'd say the Italians drink more per capita. They brought coffee culture to Australia

SLS is so beautiful but Ive watched Shmee drive his GT Black for 30,000km road & track & appreciate how practical it is as well
The switch to a cross plane crank and the OPF regulations have destroyed the potential from factory for the exhaust noise. I think Mr Burton has done things right with the Opus upgrades to his Gt Black plus also getting a SLS Black series before the prices started to go sky high, maybe you could pester him for a go in his when your both back in the UK together at some point.

Sam you should have messed with the traction control dial in the middle if you wanted the car to step out a bit like older black series

I’d take the SLS all day long too Sam.. bit annoyed to learn they were around for £80k not long ago before they were really on my radar.. I didn’t really appreciate them until recently
no way it was out for 80k pounds, must of had crazy problems with it or something because nowadays its worth up to 270k
Funny that you had to travel the entire world to try out this comparison! During your drive the world bit in Munich i offered you to drive our SLS and AMG GTR back to back, yet i never got a response back in your DM's. But oh well, now at least you got to try it out!

Definitely SLS for me. Looks, sound, kick ass large capacity NA engine, super cool gullwing doors. Did I say it looks so painfully beautiful?
It's 2009 at the IAA in Frankfurt. Mercedes presented the SLS and had a red one to sit in. I was waiting in the cue to have a seat and everyone without exception hit thier head on the doorlock. When I was inside I was completly hyped but my biggest thought was not to hit my head. I got out, thoughtI was far enough away. Got up and smashed my head also. Still an abolute nice car!

The turbos muffle the sound but nothing beats engine capacity as the 6.3's have always sounded awesome, possibly the best sounding Mercedes IMO‼

I don't really care about the black series, it is modern and reliable but i'm not a fan of too much aero.The SLS is in my top 5 favourite supercars ever and probably the best mercedes AMG. Better sound, timeless look and, last but not least, a pair of beautiful gullwing doors as a tribute to another mercedes legend, the 300 SL.
I like the SLS the most
Sam you messed up on GTR PRO vs GT BS comparison, pro uses the normal AMG cross plane V8 while BS uses a newly developed flat plane crank V8 hence the muted and different tone.
A nifty change of scenery and two typically really cools videos done by our Sam. Not one car but would turn down any of those AMG’s, I feel but I agree with Sam that they are just not all the way ‘there,’ I guess. Sam is known for his spectacular 360 Modena and his love for Ferrari kinda strangles or shields any deeper passion for other marques.
As always, great content , production, energy and pop.

About the Blackseries, the way that it sounds. It is loud inside due to minimal insulation which means road noises. A loud exhaust will add an almost intolerable noise cabin and will make the sound system unusable. Simple as that.
One of the good things about Australia has to be that the steering wheel is also on the correct side so it isn’t too different to the uk just it’s in km instead of miles

I’ve been in a GTR Pro and I really liked it but I would also probably prefer an SLS, if I had to pick between any car in the world though F-Type all day every day.

No not true , he likes the sls and he likes the c63black series , and with the opus upgrade , he made the amg gt bs sound how it sound.
The color on that GT BS is quite unique. Never seen it on a MB.
Actually the character of the black series changed dramatically since the SLS black series, even Jeremy Clarkson said it didn't want to drift even though it did and since then AMG has had Porsche on it's target list and they've been exchanging punches on the nordschleife and since they are a higher volume manufacturer, emissions regulations hit them harder
If it was a beauty contest the SLS wins without a doubt.

As a car guy I’d take the SLS… but to live with and use I’d take the GTR Pro 🤷♂️
Mainly because you have the modern tech inside and still have a somewhat nice exhaust.
SLS all noise no tech, GT BS all tech no noise.
The SLS is more aggressive than the GT R pro and the Black Series, while the Black Series, because of the flat-plane crank V8, sounds a little bit like a 4 cylinder like an A 45, CLA or A 35.

The Pre-LCI GTR (18'-19') is probably the best variant between PRO / BS. Not to mention bang for buck before everyone caught on.

The AMG GT Black Series is basically a track car for the road. IMO it has nothing to do with the growling old school brute force of what AMG used to be when the SLS came out. I personally liked the old AMGs more that were less focused on cornering performance.

I woke up this morning and have been thinking it is Thursday all day and keep getting disappointed when realising it was only Wednesday and therefore no BTG. However this will keep me going until tomorrow, good show!! 👍
The AMG GT Black Series is definitely the best looking out of that trio, but I cannot STAND the exhaust note from it's flat-plane crank engine. If I were able to get one, I'd yank the engine from it and swap in the 6.2 motor and finish it off with a complete RENNtech exhaust system. Imagine an AMG GT Black Series sounding as epic as Shmee's SLS AMG Black Series!
Merc GT R Pro for me. Hands down.

Hairdresser cars... I say that as my sister-in-law, a hairdresser, drives an SLS! Carries about her rollers and clippers in it, and currently wrapped in pink! 🤣

IMHO you missed a key difference. The GT Black Series has a flat plane crank V8, so it sounds more like a Ferrari than a muscle car like the other two AMGs. The stock exhaust and the fake engine noises through the speakers are likely what you react to negatively. A custom exhaust and a fake sound delete is all you need. Also, fully dialed in drivers cars appear to be boring on the street. Perhaps just too perfect to have personality. That is why I wonder how long you will like your GT3 which likely will induce the same road going boredom.
A GT3 isn't a fully dialed in drivers car though. It's a fundamentally a road car that can go on track, would be way better than a GT Black Series on the road.
This is the thing I don't get though, people complain that the sls black was not dialed in and that bmws are better because they're more 'drivers' cars and Mercedes does that and people complain that they're boring lol

I think the black series is quiet because it is a track car. all the noise restrictions they have there and etc. Merc probably designed it so you could use it at 90% of thus tracks
I’m completely with people the AMG stuff you just know is amazing to drive, lovely to sit in and would chew up miles on a long road trip very comfortably. I appreciate the engineering but something just doesn’t light my fuse on them.
I do like the SLS all the same as it has timeless class. The black series just comes across a safe pair of hands, maybe too safe and capable for its own good, probably a line of owners would say it’s brilliant but how many would think of it as their dream Car to drive.
You need to drive Tim’s SLS when you’re home
I think you won’t enjoy the GT Black as much just based on the sound. If you drove Shmee’s car with the power upgrades and a more visceral exhaust, it would probably change your mind Sam.
Shmees GT Black does sound alot better..... But then you hear his glorious SLS black coldstart....

One of the main appeal about AMG is earth shattering V8 rumble, which isn't as easily as accessible now given the existence of the hybrid C63s, need pony up at least for the SL55 or S63 etc. for AMG V8.
Why don’t you turn the TC off and see how quickly it gets very exciting.
About the GT, AMG was able to sve 60 kilos over the GTR Pro. The GT is bigger, has bigger tires, frame, wheels and more systems all around.
You can not have it all the time ALL around. Simple as that
When you hear Mercedes, you think of SLR Mclaren, 300SL and SLS AMG. The GT is nice but does not have the same status as the other two
