  • This is part of a new series of videos we have launched covering safe and effective drilling on geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations. This video showcases our Dando 2000 cable percussion rig using six inch tools to drill through glacial deposits and into the underlying marl.

    You the cable pulls and drops the cutter down the hole pickup up dirt that your pull up and remove, repeat over and over again using two kinds of cutters? Do you need to shove more pipe down to line the hole?

    Does anybody knows if this method is still in use, or rotary drilling is the only method now? I would be very pleased if someone answers.

      Yes it is widely still used in the UK ground investigation industry.

      Its hard work, normally a two man crew but if you like the outdoors and like travelling its a great industry to be part of.
