To answer your question about 'eastern European food vibe', it's common to stuff meat into a bread or steamed bun in China. As a Chinese from the north part of China, I eat wheat-based food all my life. My family barely cook rice, steamed bun and pan-cooked bread are my things.
When I was in Beijing I, too, was surprised at how affordable the prices were. A meal for 2 Kids and 2 adults cost us under $30 while that same meal cost me $80 here in the U.S. It made me realize how we take the US Dollar for granted. I had similar experiences in Japan and Korea.
the noodle is called "biang biang mian (noodle), the sauce for the dumplings is vinegar (and possibly with spicy oil) and the herb on the mutton skewers is cumin. Enjoying your adventures!
Guangzhou is the earliest developed city in China. When we went to Guangzhou last year, we found that many places in Guangzhou including hotels are very old. Many cities in China have already surpassed it.
"They call me Ni Hao", "is that racist?", "I don't know." Hahahahah.... very cute. 😄 You guys got to be kidding right? In case you really don't know, "Ni Hao" isn't what they call you, it's the most common way of greeting each other in China, especially when they don't know each other's names and in need of a conversation. It's almost as common as "good morning, good afternoon, how's everything going...etc" in English.
I wouldn’t consider it “racist”, it was more like a good nature bantering . But of course it all depends on the way you say it, and the intention and the circumstances under which it was said.
Too bad you visited Guangzhou during the Chinese New Year when all the stores were shutdown for the holidays...but you still tried to squeeze some funny comments out of it. ...Made me smile
that open sandwich looking thing is roujiamo, also known as chinese burger, you are right, the filling is usually pulled pork. the skewer is mostly likely to be seasoned with cumin
I want to say that Roujiamo is definitely Chinese food, it was invented during the Tang Dynasty. It comes from Xi'an, and you may not know the city of Xi'an. It is located in the northwest of China and is the starting point of the Silk Road. 9:41 🤣🤣You can go to the northwest to eat authentic Shaanxi cuisine next time🥰🥰🥰
Guangzhou is one of most friendly cities in China and has been open to foreigners since 1800th. As food kinds of Dian Xin you were tasting at beginning, Canton cuisine is distinguished by keeping its natural flavor of food, diversity, and light and healthy cooking style.
The first restaurant food is my hometown style. The main reason that some dishes tasted like from Roma, India or East Europe, it’s because my hometown, Xi’an, used to be the capital in ancient time and the start/destination point of the Silk Road. Food, culture, goods transported and shared between Middle East and China. That’s why we have beef skewers which you can find similar dish in Turkey too.
When I first visited China some 20 years ago, it was not the usual big cities like Beijing or Shanghai or Guangzhou. But to a small city in Hubei province called Shashi. Though quite a small city, I was already surprised how much the country & people had "evolved" from the Maoist era. Pushed forward to several years ago (my last visit to China), I was totally amazed how much they have transformed & continuing to change & modernize (literally) almost everyday. Guess Napoleon Bonaparte's caution of not awaking the dragon rang true....

@-18:49, dude! You’re in Guangzhou. Spicy food is the exception rather than the norm. Go north if you want spicy food. Like Sichuan province famous for its red chili pepper.
When people think about Chinese food, they usually think about rice dishes. But actually in many northern provinces of China, people consume a lot of flour-made food, like all sorts of noodles, buns, dumplings and many more. It’s because the weather in northern China is really dry, and it’s not suitable for growing paddy rice like in southern China, instead they grow wheat.
Q: Is this China(when it looks so modern)? 😂 The question shows so much of our misconception. It has been modern for the past 2-3 decades. Anyway, thanks for sharing.❤ Greetings from Singapore
From egg tart to more tarts! Must be getting used to Chinese palate 😄. The masala ish flavor from the lamb skewer is cumin I believe. This and the supposedly European ish pull meat bread are both Uyghur food. Because the region is close to Middle East therefore gave you that Mediterranean taste.
Haha the dim sum restaurant in the white swan hotel is very nice but yes expensive 😅 the white swan hotel is the first five stars hotel in China, the UK queen Liz has stayed in here when she visited Guangzhou. And funny fact this city used to call CANTON, might be ringing a bell than you just heard “Guangzhou “
cantonese is called cantonese because it is from the place- Canton, which is now named Guanghzhou (city) or Guangdong (the province that Guangzhou is in) ever since everything's been mandarinised
U really need find an English speaking Chinese to take u around the area to explore…the wide piece noodle is famous for this specific restaurant u went-Chang an , which is North part of China people’s food…those people like noodles, dumplings, everything made of flour…enjoy the China trip😊
01:30 About the tarts: In 1989, an Englishman Andrew Stow brought Portuguese tarts to Macau. After he switched to English-style custard filling and reduced the amount of sugar, it became a popular and famous snack in Macau. It then was brought to mainland China afterwards. KFC made those tarts in China (they are available only in China) and I believe that’s when the tarts started to become very popular in mainland China.
If you are eating dumplings, the sauce will be vinegar for Shangxi food. Definitely not dark soy sauce though. The food doesn't look authentic though, probably more customized to Cantonese portion and flavour.
Do you two know a vlogging couple also went to the white swan hotel exactly 10 days ago? Their channel is Alan & Shannon. What a small world we live in!
Brother, I suggest you go to teahouses(茶楼)、 restaurants(酒楼), which are the main dishes in Guangdong Province called Cantonese cuisine. The taste is super delicious and cannot be found outside of Guangdong Province. Small restaurants on the roadside or in shopping centers are considered ordinary fast food by Chinese people.
About Alipay problem, I guess it is because you connected internet via AT&T roaming service so the IP (Could be Foreign IP) is different from WIFI from local, so the credit card company may block the transaction for fraud control. You may call your credit card company that you are in China and let them not blocking your transaction via Alipay. Other solution is to save certain money in your Alipay wallet (it's the cash account), so Alipay does not need authorization from Foreign credit card. Alipay charge very low commission to seller, from zero (paid by wallet) to 0.1% paid via local bank card, but for Foreign credit card payment, they will charge Alipay 3% plus rate conversion fee. That's why most of China's small business doesn't accept Foreign credit card.

From "Mencius: Chapter 2 of the Heart" Chapter 14 Explanation: The people Put it first, the country second, and the king last. This is because when there are people, it is necessary to establish a country; when there is a country, there is a need for a "king".
The general idea is that the people come first, the country comes second, and the king comes last. This is because with the people, a country needs to be established; with a country, a "king" is needed.
Sorry, my English is not very good, Chinese from Taiwan
I am sorry that you came to Guangzhou during the Chinese new years. Lots of stores are closed, and people went back to their hometown, leaving the big cities kind of empty. There are way more city vibes on regular days.
It's cool to experience the holiday time too though, so it's okay for us! Just another reason to come back :)
Welcome
给你们一个很有用的建议,热的食物要先吃,因为中国烹饪食物的方式对温度有着非常严格的要求,不同温度下的食物呈现出来的味道会不同
Just wonder if you guys ever realised when you say "Cantonese"-"Canton" is the old school English translation of "Guangdon" and "Guangzhou" is the Capital city of Canton province? You are actually visiting the origin of Cantonese food.
Canton actually is old school English translation of Guangzhou.
Canton = Guangzhou not Guangdong.
My eyes are feasting seeing those delicious food haha. I love Chinese food especially dumplings and miantiao. Guangzhou is really nice and very interesting.
Dumplings are always delicious 😋
@@TriFateLifestyle true, yum😋
thanks for showing your subscribers what china is really like. hope you boys continue to have a blast.
It's such a beautiful city! I just added this to my bucket list.
I like the free style adventurous of your presentation! Way to go boys! I’m following you guys 😅 It’s unfortunate that the weather wasn’t cooperating, yet you guys were definitely doing great under the circumstances! That little square park is called Shamian , it was foreign consulates complex in the 19th centuries!
Guangzhou is also called Canton. HK people and Great Bay Area people all speak Cantonese. we have the same culture, same food and same traditional thing.
Canton is English for Guangdong province, Guangzhou is the capital city of Guangdong (canton) province.
You guys definitely visit our beautiful country nepal 🇳🇵❤️🩹 you are reacting nepal series only
Hoope you will visit our country soon for that reaction experience 😄😊
Love From Kathmandu Nepal ❤️🩹🇳🇵
@@ax857113 You are wrong, Canton = Guangzhou not Guangdong, look it up
1st one to comment 😛So what do you guys generally think of China compared to Western's propaganda? How is the economy, safety, security, citizens' happiness? Food and prices? Is it tourism-friendly? Maybe creating an episode tackling about these interesting topics one day would be nice for you and the viewers. Your experience as a traveller would be nice to hear.
There is an ancient Chinese saying that seeing is believing, hearing is believing. You only know what the situation is when you actually go there
That's an awesome idea! At the end of this series we can try to make a video about that stuff!
中国是对外国人不友善的国家!所以请大家来亚洲尽量选择去日本韩国或者东南亚的国家
I have been to more than 20 countries and regions. European and American cities lag behind China in terms of safety, cleanliness, convenience, and urban construction.
Where China lags behind Europe and the United States is in the rural areas of central and western China.
Looking forward to that review. You'll be influencing a lot of people about a trip to China when that review comes out. Hoping it will be an honest review.@@TriFateLifestyle
"They call me Ni Hao", "is that racist?", "I don't know." Hahahahah.... very cute. 😄
You guys got to be kidding right? In case you really don't know, "Ni Hao" isn't what they call you, it's the most common way of greeting each other in China, especially when they don't know each other's names and in need of a conversation. It's almost as common as "good morning, good afternoon, how's everything going...etc" in English.
@@lotuskidslife means 'Hi !'
他们当然知道,就是讲笑话给观众听。
I wouldn’t consider it “racist”, it was more like a good nature bantering . But of course it all depends on the way you say it, and the intention and the circumstances under which it was said.
It is like Hi, Hello, How are you, Howdy
9:41 🤣🤣You can go to the northwest to eat authentic Shaanxi cuisine next time🥰🥰🥰
China invented the burger, and spaghetti too.
In case noone has commented about the spice on the lamb skewers. It's not oregano, it's cumin seeds.
Guangzhou is one of most friendly cities in China and has been open to foreigners since 1800th. As food kinds of Dian Xin you were tasting at beginning, Canton cuisine is distinguished by keeping its natural flavor of food, diversity, and light and healthy cooking style.
Please continue with this series! Go deep, go to high tech places, go deep in the rural areas of China, that would be great to see
The first restaurant food is my hometown style.
我是湖北沙市人,感谢你对中国的赞美

Chinese beds are firm. I like the firm ones.
My mom came to America to see me and stayed for a few months. She ended up sleeping on the carpet since the bed was too soft for her.
Chinese beds are too firm for westerners back.
firm beds are good for my back!
Wow, I have watched so many of your BTS and Kpop reaction videos. I can't believe that you came visit my city. Hope you had a nice trip in Guangzhou.
10:17 The spice on the meat skewer you were talking about is called cumin, very commonly used on Chinese BBQ
I was in Guangzhou at the same time, it was really cold but unusual. hope you guys enjoy the trip!
Re: Wide flat noodles (first dish) -- That was soy bean sprouts. The green vegetable was Shanghai bok choy.
There are five places in Guangzhou that hold Lantern Festival Lantern Festival. The one closest to you is the Guangzhou Yuexiu Park Lantern Festival. You can go and see it in these two days.

OMG Welcome to Guangzhou!!I live in Guangzhou. I'm soooo glad you chose to come to Guangzhou! When I tell my foreign friends about my hometown, many people don't know where it is. So I was really happy to see your video! Guangzhou is an open and inclusive city, a good city to work and live in! And there is a famous saying in China, "Eat in Guangdong", Guangdong cuisine is very famous in the whole of China, where people pursue the original taste of ingredients. All in all welcome to you!!\(*OwO*)/
I've always wondered what it's like in China 🇨🇳, and watching this vlog makes me think it's not that bad at all 🤔 😊. Be safe Tyler and Isaac and God bless 🙏 you both ❤❤
China as one of the largest economies in the world, can't be that bad. It's really ridiculous to believe in anti-Chinese propaganda.
Looking forward to more Chinese film series from you guys. I recommend exploring Yunnan Province, where you can find snow-capped mountains and ancient towns…it's worth a visit.😊

You guys make me laugh so hard omg hahahahahhhh!!!!! So geniusly dopey!!!! Also, thank you for showing me the hotel I never knew China had, I remember that in China even 200+ rmb can buy yourself a pretty decent chain hotel room in 1-tier cities (remote areas ofc) so wow what you’ve shown here is a new experience!
I didn’t get that cheap when I was in Guangzhou last year since it was Canton Fair and hard to get a nice hotel with good price.
I was in Shenzhen and the Hilton hotel was about $100/night.
The long black spice on BBQ are cumin seeds ,this restaurant cushions are from my hometown which name XiAn city welcome to explore🤣
27:27 That was China's first 5 star hotel which opened in the 80s...
15:35 it is a tool for hanging up clothes if the clothesline is out of reach
About the egg tart, because Guangzhou and hk share the same Cantonese culture. Some hk ppl, their families are originally from Guangzhou or other cities in Guangdong province
The pole is for hanging your washed clothes in higher place somewhere either in balcony or outside of window (if allowed)
The big city is Shaanxi Province is Xian. It has tons of amazing food. And the Terra-cotta warriors along with many historical sites to visit. Definitely recommend.
The moment I see those 骑楼 I know where you guys were. Welcome to Guangzhou.
100 years ago Hong Kong used to be part of Guangdong province, The old name of Guangzhou was Canton, as you can still hear Canton fair today for every exhibition here, which is the capital city of Guangdong which speaks Cantanese and is the home town of Cantanese culture, more than 80% of the HK population comes from Guangdong .
13:11 Try different brands of Chinese bubble tea. You will be surprised.
7:45 Those are not steamed, but boiled dumplings, which are quite popular in North China.
4:32 The food looks amazing. 👍
Biang Biang noodle also called belt noodle , cuz it looks like a belt. The food you ate are from Middle East part of china, it’s not Cantonese food at all, very similar to Mediterranean food, cuz a lot of of Muslim living in that area. Looks so tasty….😮
That's really interesting! We'll definitely be getting more Cantonese food soon but the food we got was super tasty!
@@TriFateLifestyle besides dim sum, you could also look for a Cantonese local desert place, which is also very good, you can order Shuang Pi Nai or Jiang Zhi Zhuang Nai ,
Your video is good showing us the true China ,btw if you’re available you can go to Shenzhen, which is close to Hongkong and Guangzhou it’s really a modern and beautiful city.

lol, I live at the headwaters of the Colorado River, I always wondered where it all went.
What an an amazing trip! I want to go too! ❤
will you go to shenzhen during this trip?
the yellow veggies are mungbean sprouts
@-12:00, that for moving or retrieving your laundry sun drying on the balcony- I think.
Welcome to our province
Thank you so much again!!
Thanks!
Thank you!!
U really need find an English speaking Chinese to take u around the area to explore…the wide piece noodle is famous for this specific restaurant u went-Chang an , which is North part of China people’s food…those people like noodles, dumplings, everything made of flour…enjoy the China trip😊
来看相声了哈哈哈哈哈不得不说广州的陕西面馆真的都很好吃!!
馅饼第一次出现是距今1100年前的中国唐朝诗人白居易的一首诗中,唐朝以前中国文献是以酥这个字来代替馅饼的

If you are eating dumplings, the sauce will be vinegar for Shangxi food. Definitely not dark soy sauce though. The food doesn't look authentic though, probably more customized to Cantonese portion and flavour.
You guys are hilarious! Enjoying the videos
That bun is called 肉夾饃meat over bun😂
为什么不试一下喜茶?那个好喝。
It’s Biang Biang Noodles!

They are not steamed dumplings, they are boiled but the water is drained out before they serve
Do you two know a vlogging couple also went to the white swan hotel exactly 10 days ago? Their channel is Alan & Shannon. What a small world we live in!
Thank you for sharing.

Most of the Malaysian Chinese speaks more Cantonese rather than Mandarin. Guangzhou is formerly Canton.
很希望你们俩能来 娱乐之都--长沙 旅游。谢谢你们对中国的热爱并分享这份热爱,谢谢你们。祝玩的开心。
It made me laugh so loud when I watched you guys eating that Biang biang noodles 😂😂😂😂😂
A few years ago, one of my Canadian tenants also chose to travel to China during the Chinese New Year. Then she emailed me and asked why she couldn’t buy a ticket, why all the stores were closed, and why there was no one on the street. Because it was the Chinese New Year, just like your Christmas, the shops were closed, everyone was at home, and everyone bought tickets in advance to rush home to reunite with their families for the holidays.😂
I find your guys have a very thoughtful reaction when you heard they said “ni hao”, and no it’s not racist, it’s means hello. U probably gonna hearing something similar to n-word, it’s not what you would think it is, it means “that one”
