Despite being a great scholar he either forgot or seemed to lack the understanding that he was addressing in India. So Jihad had to be explained in Indian context which can not be Qitaal. Indian muslims have to carry out a passive dawah uniting themselves on the basis of religion in its purest form not on differences. The fiqh and creedal differences have made us so distant and insensitive to our social nd humanitarian issue that a Shia girl may elope with a non-muslim but She will not be allowed to marry a Sunni and vice versa.
