- It's been nearly 20 years since The Sims Bustin' Out was released, and I have to say, as a new player who's just discovering the game - it's pretty epic! Today's video walkthrough of this game was emulated on PCSX2, an open-source emulator for Playstation 2. I had the resolution scaled up to 4K, which made for a much better experience playing a nearly two-decade-old game!

how did you get this working? i have pscx 1.6.0 and it gets to the ea games logo and then just black screens
Insane that this entire game was made from start to finish in just 6 months by a development team that had to learn its coding on the fly
Sims Bustin out was one of the best Sims games in the whole franchise and it's so amazing to see people playing it/ discovering it in 2022. Keep it up! Can't wait to see more OG Sims content ❤️

I'm also feeling the Sims Bustin Out fever recently and kind of want to start the game from scratch in 2023!
You can have non-straight romantic relationships although the game kinda forces you to be straight: the goals are set-up so that your sim is straight (ie. when a goal says to kiss someone, it will be a male if your sim is a girl and vice-versa). Still, you can actually have non-straight romantic relationships, it's allowed in the game, which is good considering that the game is from 2003.

I still love this game to this day! It's so organized and yet so chaotic at the same time with having really clear path to follow, but bizarre and funny sh*t happening around your Sim all the time. NPCs having a lot of character makes them more memorable, soundtracks are banging, it just has everything in place. This was my first touch to The Sims games and I've played this for hundreds of hours as a kid. Heartwarming to see someone enjoy this as much as I do! ❤ Just found your channel and I'm going to binge-watch all of your videos :D

I absolutely loved Sims Bustin out on PS2, I played it so much as a kid and still have my copy of the game and PS2 and play it every now and again (I was trying to 100% the game) I which they'd put it onto newer consoles! Getting so much nostalgia watching you play it :)
Such a fun game. I’ll have to revisit it soon and play more of it for the channel.
Thinking back on it I probably hit a good thousand hours on Bustin' Out. Just endlessly replaying the story mode.
Love the video! Just wanted to mention that even though you are forced to kiss a sim of the opposite gender at the start of the game, your sim can be gay if you want. I'm pretty sure in every sims game sims can be gay. Also before Sims 2 on console, and after Bustin' Out was The Sims Urbz. One of my favourite sims games ever! I'm also certain TS2 on console wasn't as good because it was supposed to be Urbz 2 but was changed and went through some developmental issues. (This is kinda obvious from some of the lot types being as extravagant as the Urbz, like the Bio Dome or Cruise Ship, but also animations, reused paintings etc)

Great video! :) I share your love of the sims series. A small correction that Bustin' Out is actually the second game in the franchise not to be released on the PC. There was a first PS2 "The Sims" game before this one.
I got rec'd this and realize now that it was posted over a year ago, but... god I love this game. You totally hit a lot of the key points and highlights about it... The customization, the style, being able to change your clothes and look each time you play again. Later I realized this game was like a perfect half-step between Sims1 and Sims2 gameplay that worked really well for console, I think.
Some other neat things about this is that the backdrop behind your sims head in the lower corner changes color with the day. So in the early morning, it'll have a soft pink light. There's also "free play" mode where you can just have a regular sim or family in just play them without any goals, and those free play sims will show up at the door of your main game/career sim just like the other characters and neighbors, and you can befriend and use them to help you progress! And I think you could be gay with another sim but I'm a bit foggy on that... I think maybe you can use the "love bed" like that at least lol. You may already know some of that but yeah, I'll have to take a look at more of your playthrough!

This is EXACLY how it looked on my old tv. It had a vcr in it. We got it before I was born. (I’m 27) I had a GameCube. We didn’t get the game until 2007. I never it was so old, 2003, wow the graphics were great. That’s why I thought it was made in 2007. 😂😭

@@nostalgicgames101 just FYI i downloaded and have been playing it after your video. You are meant to kiss the girl at the start but if you ignore her for like ten pop ups you just wake up. You can still marry a guy and adopt a child together. So you can be gay.

I don't know about this particular sims game because of how it works, but you've always been able to be queer in The Sims. They agreed to do it, agreed not too, but left the code for it, so the new coder who didn't know they agreed to not do it left it in, and there was a gay kiss between I think 2 women at the reveal event. It's been gay from the start. lol
Never playing the PS2 version, only playing on the GBA version with Uncle Hayseed's but it's really fun. This both version are amazing. The real a masterpiece from EA
How did you get this to work so well? No matter how I tweak the settings on pcsx2 it's in slow motion driving me crazy 😭 I wanna play sooo bad
I have a gaming laptop with a pretty powerful GPU, you can play on high settings, but if your computer can’t handle it, it might render slow and choppy.

The reason Cassandra Goth does not make an appearance in the sims bustin out is because the sims bustin out did not contain children in the game.
I got the Malcolm landlord mansion in the sea side,its really nice biggest mansion....

It’s a setting on PCSX2. You have to play it on that in order to scale up the quality. It’s a great emulator, one of my favorites.

How did you make it 4K? :)
The emulator I used, allows you to scale the FPS and resolution to 4K, granted you have a computer that can handel it.
Is there a specific config for this game? Cause it lags for me 😢
Playing in 4K is super hard on a lot of machines. That might be the case.

Wow. Tough call. I grew up playing Sims 2 from when I was 13 until I was 18. So that game has more of a connection for me. But - The Sims Bustin' Out on GBA was my first ever exposure to the Sims! I love both.
