These analyses are amazing. I love how passionate and knowledgeable D-Low is. I always watch the original video first then immediately check out the “Danalysis”.
GENE's view of the world is amazing. No one can imitate it💜🔥 The sounds and the routines are so beautiful! I was very impressed and fascinated a lot of people. Without a doubt, GENE is a great beat boxer🦌✨
I like him because he's one of the original beatboxers with musicality. Not a lot to compare him to, you either like it or you don't. I feel like judging just comes down to taste on this one, because there's no doubt that he executes well and has stage presence.
Dear DLOW, I am just slowly getting into watching beatbox videos ever since I got hooked by the loop station songs by Rythmind, and your break downs help me so much understanding the art of beatbox better. Thank you, really loving your content. Much love
Dlow is an amazing, you upload videos very often, "GBB21" elimination my favorite I already liked and subscribed me always supporting you in your videos and watching your social networks
the thing is, its pretty hard trying to judge Gene on the same scale as the other from the same stage, because i feel like the only common aspect is beatboxing (wow!!?), but like, this performance is so much different, feels like it was on a whole another level but not like better or worse, just different. All the guys out there making awesome stuff and crazy good performances and are amazing me with the music that comes out of them, but for me, none of them really had this kind of energy in the performance, even though i have seen many of them performing doing it by routine but still different. Me, being a classical musician, having seen many stage behaviour in the "highest music scene level" (if i'm allowed to say, but still: im saying this because classical music's primary goal is to catch one's 100% focus ONLY with the music and preferably satisfy the ears unlike the many party/showmaker genres), im completely amazed to face that kind of performance here, that is how you perform and interpret a slow and emotional piece such as this one. sorry for long ass shit i hope you didnt read lmao
Always enjoy your analysis. I totally agree with you. I really can't understand how this elimination could finish 3rd overall to be honest. It was really good and blissful from Gene and I loved this elimination. But I feel it is strange that some judges had this piece so up high. For me, this was a Top 5-10 piece. But anyway, happy to see Gene back on stage (Y)
D-low do you do your basic kick and Pf snare on the side of your mouth or in the middle? also how do you do that special kick you do? i watched Pono's tutorial but it doesn't seem like what your using. Is it just a very fast tongue bass or something else?
Its obvious that its kenny judging him first. He is litterally wiping tears away after his set. He really was with the crowd and connected with them to Gene's elim. Powerful stuff
I would say that Pe4enkata had him in first. Possibly Kenny Urban but it would say my first guess may be right. Either way I am glad he made it through the elims because his beatbox style is unique and he is definitely one of the most musical beatboxer if that makes sense. I just mean the amount of melody he does by that comment. I think your ranking of 11th was probably fair tbh since he didn't "tick every box" in terms of judging but as you said, he probably didn't care.
His sounds to me (like dlow said) are singularly the most powerful there are, but they are not crazy fast combos and drops. Musicality on this level i feel is the future of beatbox, but for now people really value fast and crazy combos and bouncy hard beats unfortunately
He stands head and shoulders above all other beatboxers in terms of musicality and originality. However, he has always lacked a percussion combo like Colaps or River. Of course, I know he has a combo with clicks, but it is still lacking. So you can see that his interest in beatboxing is not in combos. He is just looking for piano, guitar and some percussion to give it a nice boost. Perhaps he just has a passion to share his music with the masses.
In general Gene's style isnt my cup of tea but Gene is for sure one of the most musical and unique styles out there and of course i respect that. But to my ear im more into heavy style what helium and inertia and some others carry on themself. But yea. Id still rank Gene pretty high as we look it objectively. Great singing and really, really beautiful voice.
I'd put Gene at 2nd or 3rd, loved the atmosphere and the musicality of this elim, when i saw your list in the previous videos and when i've seen the spots that are left i definetly thought he was gonna be at 6th place and when you said 11th i was just like what!? But i get it everyone has a different opinion and i also wasn't there live so that's also different. Would also love to see the results of other judges as there is a big contrast in some placements and i'm really curious how the other judges scored these
@@zteir good thing d-low himself said, one judge had gene on 1st place and his overall rank was actually 3rd (!)... big ups to you mister beatbox master 🤙
There has a big debate when it comes to dynamics and energy especially when you have artists in beatboxing like Gene. Its safe to argue that drops like anti-drops or doing the opposite would add to the overall piece so would dynamic lyrical and musical drops that go against the high bp grain of most beatboxers. Dynamics are a range of sounds and some pay more attention to how many sounds placed in x time, but get muddled over the compisition especially when you have 4 minutes of time. The question is how many of them do you remember? Pieces that have too much I would not but with Genes piece, I will. Most of these compositions musically shaped like a wave or a plot diagram. An introduction, rising action, climax, falling action to a rising action, climax and falling action repeating til a conclusion. Thats standard and to see someone break the fold similarly to comedians that make you feel other things then laughter, makes Gene's set one that stands out, leaves you emotional and taken to the point breathlessness and back to realizing it was live beatbox ticks all the boxes for me. Easily Top 3 for me, if not top 2. The fact you had him 11th objectively or subjectively made me do a double take and I highly disagree with that placement but I understand that you are entitled to your opinons and more honestly, it would make me want to find out more why you had certain people on the list the way you judged it more then anything else. It intrigues me, but you are right Gene is one of the reasons I fell back in love with beatboxing as a way of vocalized harmonic music made with the mouth. Wish you well on your journey and til next time/vid Merry Holidays to you and your family.
I love Gene and i love his style. Its too bad that there are so many criteria that the scoring system wants to have filled. I would definitely have him top 5 as well, simply because of how enjoyable the whole track was. I dont particular like crazy fast combo beatbox, so thats why this was even more enjoyable to me. It does feel maybe a little unfair that the wildcard top winners have such a top banger that they can rely on in their elims, and i do feel a little biased towards them, with River as well, but thats the game, and if you have a smash hit as a wildcard or as anything else, i dont see why you shouldnt be able to use it. 3rd place for gene in the overall rankings seems about right to me, definitely agree overall with the judges.
I could understand both ways to be honest Literally freaked out hearing both of those and i think it comes down to personal preferation There's no objective things one of them does better but if i think of what i would rather rewatch a few times instantly (which i did) would be gene
genes perfomance (also his wildcard) gave me goosebumps, only with his voice and structure of his beats. its like the only beatboxer that can do that to me, but thats probably a personal thing. rivers wildcard was also close to that feeling
Big ups to everyone who participated in gbb. It's so nice to hear things from a judges point of view. Keep it up D-Low.
Big ups 🙏 how you doing btw

Have been waiting for these insights, such an advanced piece
Gene is a absolute genius. He and his beatbox is super amazing
He is freaking amazing , the journey he takes you on is something else completely.something that beatboxers generally don’t do .
I think that was one of the MOST unique performances all around, what a legend.

I agree to a certain extent, but there were levels to the judging that didn't rely on simply taste. The criteria covered much more than that
I just love Gene. Always love what he does. What a beautiful human.
He's someone I would wanna be friends with
😆
Seriously loving your analysis.
1st place for me.
yeah
first 1-2 is like a happy song then i start to get those Gene goosebumps
This is I believe the only set that has literally made me cry watching it 🙏❤️🔥
5:30 that cough snare just hits so perfectly
5:33 That's exactly how I felt too. Thanks for doing these videos Dlow.
Dlow' GBB analysis video are as consistent as my b-day falling on December 1st every year (and as anticipated 🎁)

Apart from the ranking or the scoring system, Genes elimination was the only one that really touched my heart, it was just so magical!❤️🔥
gene is such a weirdo lol, im so hyped he didn't make it, lol it was actually good just he is a bit of a psyco
@@zteir It’s okay if it’s not your personal taste, but spreading hate is just unnecessary.

D-Low low key flexing his wardrobe for each new vid , how many more new tops will we see :)
"He is GENEious level of composition" Ha I see what you did there :D
It really made me happy that past champions made it to top 16...
It represents the consistency with the time

lmaooo that moment when dlow realise that 2015 was SIX YEARS AGO!🤣🤣🤣
Sooo beautiful
Your way of judging is flawless👏🏻
5:59 I can repeat it over and over again in my whole life.
hes honestly my fav beatboxer
Hey dlow I’m huge fan and was wondering when the next time you are going live
God fuckin damnit man. That's outstanding 👌🏻
yooo dlow nice freestyle vid on beatbox international
Background fitting the gene colour scheme perfectly
2:52 i love how D-Low can do a perfect spit snare, but he refers to it by doing a completely different sound
I legit just cried watching this
D-Low and Madox are my favorite professional analyzers on RUclips. They're so genius.
Madox got cringed
I really loved his strict analysis in past videos.
Now he goes soft when it goes on analysis
6:05 snare and vocals hit me like a truck
His beatbox is so refreshing.
crazy

Gene was 1st for me but I was only judging emotionally. The variation he did his wildcard before the second drop was unreal to me.

That wallpaper in the back is beautifull and, i guess, expensive
Only elimination that was performed with heart, not for getting selected in top 16🔥💖

I had Gene at 1st overall with Inertia at 2 but am terribly biased toward Gene he’s been my favorite for ages

So useful coments for a newbie like me. BBX need bigger visibility.
