    NEW UPDATE 150K Video: • Chevy Sonic 150,000 MI...
    Some repairs I HAVE needed include changing the alternator, the thermostat, the ignition coil pack and the window regulator.

    My 2015 LS just turned over to 90,000 this month - I love that car so much. I’ve put almost 60,000 miles on it since buying it and never missed an oil change, tire rotation, etc and so far the only thing I’ve needed done was replacing the thermostat housing after having a very slow coolant leak. The beautiful thing about the LS is I don’t have to worry about the window motor going out 😂

    I had a 2004 Chevy Aveo, put 350k miles on it, then sold it. Was still running great. Orig. Motor and auto trans, no issues. The only time it broke down was when the upper radiator hose thermostat housing cracked.. best, most reliable car I ever had

    i own a 2013 Sonic LT 1.8ltr. Just hit 54,000 miles mostly because I ride a motorcycle a lot. So far had to replace the seal and gasket on the oil cooler mounted to the back side of the catalytic converter. Had to replace the boot between the air box and throttle body (might want to check and see if yours is split too). Am waiting for a little warm up to replace the thermostat as got a check engine light code for that problem. Agree with all of your comments on how good the car has been to me as well.

    Unfortunately I have had nothing but costly repairs on my 2015 Sonic. Bought it brand new! All sorts of weird issues, all after warranty expired. Repeated problems with the cooling system the top and bottom plastic manifold have exploded 3 times, replace the antifreeze overflow twice, I've had to replace the PCV valve cover three times, I've spent over $5,000 in repairs not happy with the Chevy Sonic Turbo LTZ and probably will never buy a Chevy again. I think I got a lemon.

    Nice review. I have a 2013 LT with the 1.3 manual 6 sp. w/120,000 miles. It has been a very good car overall. The fit and finish have been a little suspect though. The shaft on my gearshift broke costing $400, and various plastics in the cabin have broken. I'd still recommend it as a fun-to-drive, dependable econobox.

    2015 LT 1.8 with 70k miles and has been a headache since getting it in late 2019 with 45 on it. Love the car but the misfiring and sputtering has plagued me a lot of late. Was told to get the ECM reset and the dealer just no sold my request and offered baseline interval services instead so I took it elsewhere for those but still have had a tough time. Replaced coil pack, plugs, alternator, throttle body and fuel injector flush, O2 upstream and valve cover, trans flush (66k mi), coolant temp sensor, still dealing with inconsistency which makes me dread having to use it for my commute to work each week.

    Since your alternator is at the bottom it gets hit by dirt, water and other things. Its main pulley bearing takes the hit and starts making noise from friction which heats up the alternator shaft and fries the internal electronics (diodes, VR... ). It's an easy alternator replacement.
    Mines have 270,000 miles, its an ok car. These car run a fever (over 200 deg F) even without the turbo.. the plastics, seals, HG cannot keep up. Take for example a buick lessbre, 2004 operating temp is about 190 degree F and lasts a lifetime. Toyota Corolla, 2003 operating Temp about 177 degree F, lasts a lifetime. Both have their alternator on the very top and lasts a long time 😊

    My 2014 is a piece of junk. I've spent thousands in repairs just to fix it from stalling on idle and nothing is working. I can't wait to get something different and I will never buy any GM in the future. It has caused me nothing but pain.

    I replaced the battery in the sonic Ltz, but the battery light stays on. Does that sound like and alternator problem?

      YEs that sounds like it's probably the alternator..

    I'm buying a 2012 Sonic Sedan 1.8 automatic with 79k miles for about $8k... Is it worth it? I drove the car and felt smooth and zippy and light... Anythings to worry about or should I look for something else?

    • @vanpocalypse3529
      @vanpocalypse3529  2 года назад

      I don't know if that's a good price based on the year, but as far as the car itself, I think you'll love it.. I am at well over 100K now and still no major issues.. make sure to change the timing belt when you get to 100K though. If the car runs smooth.. no check engine light.. I say go for it.. if you haven't bought it yet, I'd try to get it for closer to $6 since it's a 10 year old car but relatively low mileage so if they won't budge, go for it at $8K.

    M y 2015 sonic mine is 113 I' replaced timing belt all the rest changed the waterer pump. I've changed everything but the engine. The is a piece of shi$. Stay- away. One thing that is the common if your car shits off while your driving their is common problem is the negative battery cord.
