I want to tell you just one thing, watching your videos and listening to your works, you have brought back in me the desire to create something with music, I have some equipment, but I had put it aside (including my beloved MD-UW). Now (or rather Oora), I'll start again and if nothing else I'll go back to doing something that made me feel good. Thank you
Great video and sounds coming from the Vermona. I love these philosophical vids you do. So different from the rest of geartube. Lately, I’ve been setting intentions by taking some deep breaths and imagining something I’ve accomplished or achieved in the future. Then I imagine my future self expressing gratitude to my current self for getting me there. Last, my current self expresses gratitude for my past self. I’m trying to break the matrix.
Positive comment from AI "This video offers a refreshing perspective on creativity and the essence of music production. It's a powerful reminder that the most crucial ingredient in any creative endeavor isn't the latest gear or external validation, but rather the right intention. Your passion and perspective on this topic are truly inspiring, and it's a message that resonates deeply in today's fast-paced, material-driven world. It's enlightening to see content that emphasizes the importance of inner drive and intentionality in the creative process. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and encouraging artists to look within for their true source of inspiration."
oora, you are one of the most genuine and likeable guys on the whole of youtube. this meditation on the idea of intentions and the 'why' of making art is so interesting and so valid for all forms of creative endeavour. i think the number one intention we should all remember should be to find our own voice, our own way of communicating whatever it is we want to communicate, and to have total faith in that. all the best to you.
thank you so much for your supporting words, I am always happy to know that sharing my thoughts can be as interesting as a synth demo! And I completely agree, finding our voice to me is the final challenge, the one worth struggling for
Growing up in a bad environment my main escape became music , my favorite band was 808 state. All their songs sounded different from the last, and yet child like while very creative at the same time. You can tell they weren't throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping it would stick, unless they mastered the art of achieving it.. 😂 Thier music has no boundaries. Especially thier old stuff , they are my inspiration in this music making hobby that a currently battling to at least become decent at. Thanks for the advice. ❤🙏
Wow, amazing. I am lucky to found you because I am agree with you. I choose to not use too much social media because time is precious and I try to focus on things that can give me a value, like this video of yours. I like to write and the form that I am using now is the haiku because it let me focus on a particular thing that occurs in a particular moment. So my intention is to be present and if something came up I can be ready but, to be honest I didn’t put anything online yet. Now I have the intention to learn how to use make music as you do, but I am not even an amateur, I need to learn from scratch. Apologies for the length of this message. Thanks for your video!
Ciao Luca, I appreciate your comment. I love haiku, is a form of poetry that always resonated well with me. Being present became really hard nowadays, but also is our strongest stance.
Wonderful - listening to the music you found this morning speak to be as you’ve found a darker side of your music - this is my style too but you’ve tapped into a space that is more angular, slightly up tempo and driving! Love it.
Hello Oora! Nice video with valuable words...tks a lot. That's what sometimes we need to hear to remind us what we really are looking for. I've been following some your videos and I must say your english has improved quite a lot too! Congrats
Great inspiring video! Usually my intention is simple: create something I like. I don’t care about fame and money. I simply want to express my creativity….I’m actully exploring Vermona+Oxi One
My dad once told me that success is getting what you want, but happiness is wanting what you get. That stuck with me and lets me freely create - not worrying about success, but seeking happiness with the process of creating.
Many people nowadays ask how to become a successful streamer, a creator on RUclips, a blogger or whatever. And the best answer they can get is “just do what you love to do”. If your intention is to make big money in first place you will always fail. If you just love what you are doing, you cannot fail, because you at least having a good time doing it.
I really love this. There was a time when I wasn't making anything because I had the mindset that writing a song means writing something that I am going to try to reproduce live. Now, I have a new mindset. Now, my goal is to capture a moment. That's all I want. It doesn't need to live on forever. If someone wants to see that as "disposable" content, that's fine with me. Moments are consumed and we move on from them. There is beauty in that.
The way I usually approach music making is, I'm just there for the show. One time I had this dream where, for part of it, I was playing piano (working, I think) in this seedy Polynesian bar, and when I woke up (dream was much more extensive) I remembered that I'd just played a song in my dream that I knew was "my song", not a cover, and I even remembered what the song was portraying... but I couldn't remember anything about the song itself, how to play it. I was sad. Then, a while later, I was going thru a period of playing every night like I was an audience member just there for the show, with no idea what would come out. I'd record everything, and sometimes I wasn't even that attentive, and sometimes it was truly awful. One night, I played the song from my dream, and I didn't even know it at the time. I listened back a day or 2 later, and laughed so hard - OMG, there's Luau Tsunami!🤣 I'd played the dream song about as well as could be expected😜. I couldn't remember doing it, but nobody else was there... and I remembered pressing Stop, and kind of shocking myself awake, and figuring out, in the mental fog, that I needed to press record and play again... and that was it (and plenty of memories before and after that stretch of the evening). It's a fun song, which actually informed some of my subsequent clichés, but it's not a solid gold hit, or whatever. That's only ever happened to me once - it's the most extreme example of my subconscious processes trying to bypass my conscious intention😂. There are many ways that music can manifest thru you into the world. "Improvising as if you were a spectator" is the weirdest way I know how... but usually it's more intentional than THAT... I'll start in a mood, or with a vibe, and then find sounds and fx parameters while fully aware of what I'm doing, and why, and then I'll play something, while recording. Sometimes there are overdubs and edits. Sometimes I'll make a drum track first, and then add parts (played by hand, usually, but occasionally samples, especially of my previous music) that seem to fit. Okay, that went on a tangent😮
Oh yeah, the point. I couldn't play that song again correctly, consciously, if I was at gunpoint. I think that if you hypnotized me, it would be easy😅. I don't care whether I can reproduce any tune I've created. If I want to play it live, and it's too hard for a single live player, then I can start a band, use sequences and arpeggios, or even use backing tracks. Or play different tunes of mine that are easier, and skip the ones that need 4 hands. I've seen stage shows that were all laptop, with a relatively simple live component using a visually compelling instrument/performance as the human element. Some people never play live. You could play simplified guitar or keyboard arrangements of your music. There are so many reasons not to limit yourself to what you can play live in a single pass. Most of my stuff is like that too, but only because that's what mostly comes out. When it needs an overdub, another part, it gets it. I've even had to slow down the speed, play something in at the slower speed, and then bring it back up to tempo in the computer. It came out better because of that, not worss.
Nice topic to discuss! I'm always bought a gear which has a preset function to be able to save my work. I'm not touching my Modular because I'm afraid I can't reproduce it later to record a song or to play it live. But it's really a game changer mindset to live in a moment. Definitely, worth to try! Thanks!
You said it right, even if you didnt make a living or become wealthy with your art, if the art gives you validation and pleasure doing it should matter the most.
I m not see yours videos because you are youtuber, not because you use good materials but because you make beautiful music with nice instruments, because you make music with an artistic point of view Take care and nice 2024 !
my favorite videos of yours are when you talk about photography, philosophy, setting intentions; plus never wanting a rolex. oora is the socrates of ambient music
Whenever I enter the studio I always decide to focus on one thing. I guess this would be my intention. I pick a module in my modular or a drum machine or effect and I build a sound from there. It seems to work. I'm in my studio every day and always leave it having learned or produced something.
@@OoraMusic it took me years to figure it out. I used to go in with bass line ideas etc. This is too detailed. I found it better to pick a synth that I think could make a good bass line. Now I'm starting from scratch and I explore sounds and develop a bass line.
I have the idea of what is a construct I want to convey and how do I what are usually utilise it with the tools I have. Or even what restrictions can I put it on it to influence how I creatively approach it.
Sometimes I just look for sounds, or start dialing LFOs and delays, and go from there. Sometimes it's like making a soundtrack for an imaginary movie. I think I've been more about the process than the intention or the goal, but I set a New Year's resolution to be more intentional about that stuff, at apropriate times, at least. I think the quotes were saying that nobody thinks they start with bad intentions. I think people conflate "star" with "musician". So you get narcissists who REALLY want money, fame, sex and drugs, and at some point those people often perceive music as an easy way to achieve it. Other narcissists love the attention so much that they'll out-hustle, out-practice, out-everything any competitors, and those are the pretty smiling faces we know and love... the stars. If you just care about music, you don't have to worry about trying to necome a star. Keep practicing, and playing, because that's what you do. And if you want to make money doing it, then get gigs, teach, sell online courses on how to make money thru music🤣. I think AI will imcrease individual productivity as far as typical synch music - So, a person can prompt the software, which returns a piece of music, you listen, and then revise your prompts, and listen, back and forth, until you get a result that needs only minimal DAW tweaking. You'll get very specific with your prompts, with exact times you want specific events to occur. With this type of system, 1 composer will be able to do the work of 20, and with less effort. If the composition software trains on library music, then it can learn genre requirements, but it also has tens of thousands of hours worth of actual movie cues, some of which are somewhat formulaic. Crux of the matter - the difference between good and bad art. With me, sometimes it seems like the difference between whether I create good and bad music depends upon whether I get into a flow state or not. That's been the main factor, for what I usually do. But then there are other types of music creation where that's irrelevant, but having a well-trained perception (in music, a "good ear") and good taste is more important for that style of music creation. In almost all cases, whether it's about flow state or surgical song construction, you will get better at it, better sounding results, after some repetition, i.e. technical practice. If you play an instrument live (including modular, live coding, tuba, no input mixer, singing... ANY instrument) then it really really helps if you record yourself and then listen back later on. You'll hear things you miss when you're playing. If you don't play live, but only construct in the DAW... then keep finishing tracks that way, and you'll sse similar improvement as an instrumentalist does. The intention is good, but the follow thru is even more important, almost always. Unless you have an army at your command. Of course, you can think of your resources, in this life, as your army. Or maybe, your workers, for a less militaristic analogy. Theres plenty of militarism going on in the world already.
At the beginning, the music reminded me a little of Allessandro Cortini's new SCURO CHIARO LP. But a combination of the opening Ecco track, and the wonderfully breathing Corri. You mentioned being inspired by another artist at the end, so I guess it's possibly that, though probably not. Another track that really entranced me recently was Donato Dozzy's beautiful Lucrezia, from his forthcoming Magda LP. As for the my own intention, I'm just fascinated by listening to and making sounds that can magnify the strange experience of time passing.
@@OoraMusicHe really is great. And about to tour around Europe too btw, in case you haven't seen that. Unfortunately he won't be coming to Valencia. Btw, you mentioned planning to get more into modular this year. I'm not sure if you've ever come across the channel of Hélène Vogelsinger. I think you might enjoy her aesthetic.
I can't believe you didn't do some R2D2 sample and hold with the Vermona till now! 😂 My first intention of 2024 was buying a Digitakt and make a 5 tracks dub live set with it. I need to exit the almost useless noodling/jamming without scope. Second intention is to stay with smaller groups of instruments connected together and stick to them for a while before reshuffling, so to avoid my superficial use of them and learn to dive deeper into the machines
My intention is always the same, to be present in every breath that I take. I do music because I enjoy having a relationship with sound. It's the only thing that keeps me sane, apart from meditation (complete silence).
What attracted my ears to what you do Federico, was that I heard it as art first and music second. From my perspective music is mearly the byproduct of your craft. I appreciate the inspiration you put forth. It has put me on my own path to creating and discovering my own sonic art. 🌺
“I won’t lose time reading a book by robots”. Amen to that. What a waste. The power is in connection from one human to another. AI has no soul, no story. It’s a reflection of the real thing, but not the thing itself. AI art and music is without soul and won’t ever truly last.
i feel small watching your videos regularly, because you have so much stuff that i wish i just had a piece of, the fanbase to make money off your music/content.. im here trying to make sincere, simple art with the best originality and intentions in mind, and im nowhere. you see it everyday, when someone hops on the "genre here" wave with the intention of just being that for the purpose of exploiting the niche.
Hello! Let me tell you something : I am facing one of the most terrible times of my life. I feel completely unsuccessful, struggling with anything I do .I look at musicians and RUclipsrs and think they are so much better than me. I say this to let you know that this feeling that lingers in us, the one that make us feel small, unaccomplished, not good enough, will never really leave. I feel your struggle and I am in it with you mate, I wish I can help you but hope this words give you some support!
@@OoraMusic same to you Oora! I followed you on Spotify and can't wait to hear that 4 channel synth beast recorded... as far as not doing well, I guess it's ALWAYS relative. i really hope things shape up for you, and I'm sure you know you have thousands of fan friends who are always here for you virtually. i don't know how much more could be asked for, but like I said, it's relative, and yakno, mo' ______, mo' problems.
Piú guardo i tuoi video e piú mi sei simpatico e mi interessano le tue sessions. Un video in italiano ogni tanto potresti eh.!? Comunque complimenti e grazie di tutto❤
intention is something intrinsic; your environment prevents you from listening to yourself and being pure. So listen to your heart not the judgement of others.
Hi, which three modules would you recommend to make Ambient. I would like to start with modular but would only want to buy three to get to know them. I know that I need some kind of "output" so that I can hear something. But then what. If you could only choose two or three modules what would they be?
Long time fan. Watch all your videos. Was on your patreon once. I appreciate you for your music and artistic focus. A question: Do you really want to be a big-text, stares at camera, pointing youtuber? At least you weren't making a stupid face too...
honest answer : no. But I am on the verge of deciding if keep doing this or not, and with a little compromise I can have a way better reach, so I had to accept it. But I can promise you, will never do a silly face!
@@OoraMusic I respect your reply. I hope it does work for your reach! For me, I can't help but notice the psychological manipulation/exploitation (especially when the creator employs the RUclipsr face in addition to everything else...). Peace.
Yep! Spot on. Humans connect with stories, it’s in our biology. We can’t be fooled for long by AI. It will be hyped for a few years and then prove to lack any nourishment for the soul at all. Art will last forever.
Well Oora - with RUclips revenue dwindling, do you feel you get the recognition you deserve? Or can you completely ignore the fact that you only get a few bucks from RUclips as long as a whole small town watches your videos every day? For me it's hard to seperate the two, I always feel like "the algorithm hates me" and get frustrated, even when I get a lot of positive feedback from my 26k subscribers.
i hear you. is two years that i am waiting that algo push that can put me on the radar, but it feels always come for others. i keep forgetting that i have a lot of support and love from people and even if that doesn’t pay the bills, make me happy :)
@@OoraMusic do you want to? That’s the ultimate question. People are rich in different ways. Someone would give a rolex for your talent. Kinda expanding on your video. I wouldn’t, I’m happy with my watch, works just fine. Shows time and all, and I don’t need to showcase status with a watch. Nice console though… i would always go for that. But that’s just me:)
The sad thing to me is all of these midi chord packs and automated software plugins. Folks seem to be running out of ideas in music. When picking up your hand and actually trying to find your way around an actual instrument requires no subscription, and has no system requirements other than your interest oh…. AI jazz is horrendous.
Who cares the guys got an expensive studio. Last time i checked im pretty sure billie eilish brother produced her music on a laptop and a scarlett 2i2.
Absolutely man! Your creativity is in the mind, not your pockets. Ya could a $3000 preamp make a difference to a producers ear? Ya. Is it going to make a difference to your listeners. Never in a million years. Great video. I think people need to hear this. People are so tied up in needing a professional studio full of gear to be a good artist. Completely untrue. Take care bro. Love your content!
let me say I love watches. in fact , I was a jewelry and watch photographer. I know a lot about luxury watches and I really would be happy with an IWC big pilot, but not really on my budget, sadly :D
Getting rich is possible if you want it. Investing is the best way - you could make music beside. But really rich guys doesnt have to flex with their rolex. Ps.: Do not worry - in my opinion - with this mindset - you made it ❤
i have been lucky never experiencing poverty. i had a good support from my family and thanks to that had the chance to study and find a good job. i am obviously a privileged person and by no means i want to teach lessons. but each one of us has struggles, and mine are no lesser than yours. sharing our experiences might help us , that’s my belief.

Alessandro is an hero of mine!
Great video !!
Thanks!
I can't believe you didn't do some R2D2 sample and hold with the Vermona till now! 😂
My first intention of 2024 was buying a Digitakt and make a 5 tracks dub live set with it. I need to exit the almost useless noodling/jamming without scope.
Second intention is to stay with smaller groups of instruments connected together and stick to them for a while before reshuffling, so to avoid my superficial use of them and learn to dive deeper into the machines
caro mio, you are officially in the " I own too many synth" club :D
@@OoraMusic that's why I bought a sampler 🤣
My intention is always the same, to be present in every breath that I take. I do music because I enjoy having a relationship with sound. It's the only thing that keeps me sane, apart from meditation (complete silence).
I think im in the same boat!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
What attracted my ears to what you do Federico, was that I heard it as art first and music second. From my perspective music is mearly the byproduct of your craft. I appreciate the inspiration you put forth. It has put me on my own path to creating and discovering my own sonic art. 🌺
I am glad we had the chance to work together!
Wow, this little piece you've crafted as an example is captivating! Is it hiding on bandcamp somewhere?
not yet ! thanks!
Same :)
“I won’t lose time reading a book by robots”. Amen to that. What a waste. The power is in connection from one human to another. AI has no soul, no story. It’s a reflection of the real thing, but not the thing itself. AI art and music is without soul and won’t ever truly last.
I am afraid it might outlast us, but again, we still have the power on deciding what we want to consume
Thank u!
You're welcome!
as always 🤌🏻👍🏻
Always!
i feel small watching your videos regularly, because you have so much stuff that i wish i just had a piece of, the fanbase to make money off your music/content..
im here trying to make sincere, simple art with the best originality and intentions in mind, and im nowhere. you see it everyday, when someone hops on the "genre here" wave with the intention of just being that for the purpose of exploiting the niche.
I followed you on Spotify and can't wait to hear that 4 channel synth beast recorded...
as far as not doing well, I guess it's ALWAYS relative. i really hope things shape up for you, and I'm sure you know you have thousands of fan friends who are always here for you virtually. i don't know how much more could be asked for, but like I said, it's relative, and yakno, mo' ______, mo' problems.
i love your philosophy of life
thanks!!
Relatable 100%!
:)
You should open a music production school.
i didn't want the intro jam to end!
will record it nd release it!
Piú guardo i tuoi video e piú mi sei simpatico e mi interessano le tue sessions. Un video in italiano ogni tanto potresti eh.!? Comunque complimenti e grazie di tutto❤
ahaha magari prima o poi lo faccio!
Finally someone said what art is all about
Wish I had it that clear, but thanks for your kind words
intention is something intrinsic; your environment prevents you from listening to yourself and being pure. So listen to your heart not the judgement of others.
Easier to say than to do, but I agree
I like this
thank you!
Wise words
thanks
"Connection" 😉❤
:)
Hi, which three modules would you recommend to make Ambient. I would like to start with modular but would only want to buy three to get to know them. I know that I need some kind of "output" so that I can hear something. But then what. If you could only choose two or three modules what would they be?
Maybe I would go with a mother 32 or subharmonicon, a starlab or a beads/mojave, and some modulation source ( I like just friends)
Great :)
Thanks!
Money is a conséquence of what you achieve when you realised your dream
true
My intention is always "This will turn into a finished track." It never happens. I have fun in the process though, so I'm not beating myself up.
good intention + no expectations sounds like a great combo
Peace.
Had to rewind the Intro Jam 🙂
:)
It's ll about ❤and story or journey, that AI can only try to replicate.
Yep! Spot on. Humans connect with stories, it’s in our biology. We can’t be fooled for long by AI. It will be hyped for a few years and then prove to lack any nourishment for the soul at all. Art will last forever.
@@michaelkonomos ❤
Well Oora - with RUclips revenue dwindling, do you feel you get the recognition you deserve? Or can you completely ignore the fact that you only get a few bucks from RUclips as long as a whole small town watches your videos every day? For me it's hard to seperate the two, I always feel like "the algorithm hates me" and get frustrated, even when I get a lot of positive feedback from my 26k subscribers.
i hear you. is two years that i am waiting that algo push that can put me on the radar, but it feels always come for others. i keep
forgetting that i have a lot of support and love from people and even if that doesn’t pay the bills, make me happy :)
42 !!!🎉
Hey hey
come on man; you re not that "normal people", you might not have Rolex but you have Merys X and all the knowledge that comes with it.
:) thanks for the kind words
my pleasure@@OoraMusic
Well you can buy a decent rolex with your mixing console :) Not a golden one but decent Day/Date
should I do it??????? :D
AI jazz is horrendous.
have to agree. I mean, everything has its own use, but when its all too easy, then there is hardly any value
Integrity anyone?
11:43 AI gets it wrong %75 of the time a real report from the AI people.
It looks awful especially the moving videos.
Who cares the guys got an expensive studio. Last time i checked im pretty sure billie eilish brother produced her music on a laptop and a scarlett 2i2.
mate, im glad you catch exactly my point. Thanks for your precious comment.
You’d look good with a Rolex on your wrist but there are nicer watches
let me say I love watches. in fact , I was a jewelry and watch photographer. I know a lot about luxury watches and I really would be happy with an IWC big pilot, but not really on my budget, sadly :D
@@OoraMusic looove the big pilot
Getting rich is possible if you want it. Investing is the best way - you could make music beside. But really rich guys doesnt have to flex with their rolex. Ps.: Do not worry - in my opinion - with this mindset - you made it ❤
thanks!!!
I don't think he knows what poverty looks like 😂
i have been lucky never experiencing poverty. i had a good support from my family and thanks to that had the chance to study and find a good job. i am obviously a privileged person and by no means i want to teach lessons. but each one of us has struggles, and mine are no lesser than yours. sharing our experiences might help us , that’s my belief.
my intention is frisson. music is the only thing I've found that gives me that feeling.
