As someone who grew up with a drug addict dad I made these jokes at alanas age. It’s a way she’s trying to cope and I think all the adults yelling at her is making her feel worse
With her being famous with sponsors etc .. it’s much more serious - she needs some serious therapy for sure - I still love them!
While I can agree it can be a coping mechanism, it still isn’t right. She has a platform where many people view her, and there are people who either have been in a similar situation themselves or had people close to them in this situation. It’s not exactly the most acceptable way to make fun of it when it’s a serious topic for certain people.
I was thinking the same thing. Kids have to learn to cope one way or another.

She’s been around comedy shows hearing these “comedians” make jokes about drug addiction and her own mothers issues so why wouldn’t she? She’s young... you have to teach her that it’s not okay or funny, she’s just trying to cope and lighten a super heavy situation.
That’s not just a joke she was very clearly acting out. If she had gotten her mom’s attention with that nonsense, negative or not, it would only be a matter of time before she starts using drugs. Poor kid misses her mom and doesn’t understand why her mom won’t choose her. It’s so sad.

Totally agree I think this is the first time in her life she’s starting to receive actual parenting plus dealing with the stress of her mother it’s hard to handle all the change at once. Major props to pumpkin and josh

I agree that she is acting out to cope with her depression. However this is when her manager should step up and make her go to therapy not a one time session with the WE TV therapist, but a private facility where she doesn't have cameras and she can truly vent. If her mom isn't taking therapy fine but at least make the kids go because they need it too.

honestly, i think like half those people need to chill out. she’s 14, what she did was wrong but pumpkin should be the one to take care of it. she doesn’t need 4 different people scolding her for something that she thought would be funny. it’s probably embarrassing enough to have everyone online react poorly to it. the producer and manager should have let pumpkin handle the situation.
Pumkin is such a good mother figure. She knows when enough is enough. I can feel pumkin's stress just knowing that she's the only one who can keep the family togheter.

Its hamazing how good Mother lauryn turned out to be, and how Well alana is handling these things. People please just understand this child has been abandoned by her mother. Her world changed so fast! Adults can’t handle stress well so we cannot expect a child to really understand the consequences to this action.
Coming from someone who grew up in a home with addict parents i first hand know how hard this can be for kids not to mention she is no normal kid. Normal kids get bullied online and a kid that is on t.v. already bullied about what she looks like, her weight and adults can actually be worse than children. I truly hope things turn around for her mother and she can’t get the help my mother finally got. They shouldn’t give up on their mom, geno has secluded her and got her hooked on him and drugs my mom was too but eventually she did it and she is the strongest woman I know and I am the mother I am because of her. I chose to learn from my mothers mistakes and I choose to lead a different life than I grew up in. My child will never know addiction and abuse like I saw everyday. I’m damaged boy am I but I’m trying everyday.

Alana needs to be with someone who is going to support and show her the right way. It's to much going on in a house where she doesn't feel like she love.
I think the joke is totally appropriate consider the circumstance. This is a super common behavior of children w/ addict parents to make light and joke about it. They know it’s serious but also think about being introduced to the world of drugs and it’s effects on people at such a young age, you’d be more
desensitized to it. The biggest problem is that she’s in the public eye and it will effect her business affiliations. Which is clearly something she’s yet to comprehend.

That joke is a coping mechanism that Alana probably psychologically doesn’t understand. Grounding her and limiting her privileges is a good idea but yelling and shouting at her as if it’s all her fault probably won’t help. I genuinely think she needs a therapist so she can talk through her issues and understand why she may do the things she does and why those actions might connect to her mother. She’s grown enough to understand that, these adults just need to treat her as such.
It’s good that they teach her restrictions, but i also feel for Alana and get that she’s just trying to cope.

Like a lot of most people she just doesn't understand that joking and making fun of someone or something is the same thing and that they do go down way beyond like they go way further than you think and they have truth behind them too.

Kids almost always mimic what they see Mom and Dad do because they assume when they grow up this is how adults conduct themselves and these are the activities adults do... So remember only let your kids see what you want them to mimic in the future because more than likely that's what will happen.... a good role model for children is super important
I was cheering Pumpkin on as she put Alana in her place. Her and Josh are really stepping up to be the parent figure that Alana needs especially when I don’t think she’s ever got an actual punishment for anything. She needs to be taught that drug addiction/drugs in general are not a joke and should be taken seriously (I mainly blame the internet and the jokes she was hearing at the club for this).

You know....I think now more then ever she's needing love and support a good heart to heart. Everyone in that family has their anger built up about June and there's alot of tension in the air maybe she figures oh my mom can it and that's okay.
