- Hi everyone!
This week marks the start of intensive job hunting! Attended two first-round interviews, but had to postpone a third in-person session because I was down with flu. The job/labour market is sooooo competitive I think I need God's intervention🥲
On a brighter side, the interviews were a good excuse to clear my time-off from shift work, so I got to rest a little between work days😌

I guess getting ghosted these days is the norm. I almost always get ghosted if its a rejection. The only time i hear back is during the offer stage 😢
Man.. I find it unpro to ghost candidates, esp those who have been shortlisted for interviews

it's common but unacceptable. some recruiters are like friends with you during the recruitment process but could become totally silent suddenly. terrible.

Random but I really love all your cafe hunts in Chinatown area. Am the only person among my friends to work there so it opens up the boring me to a whole new world of possibilities😆 Gonna miss these when you move on to your future job. All the best for your job search!

ure so real for this i had to comment lmao i quit my job last year and decided to do a career switch, now im doing my bachelors and intern searching and maybe its a skill issue for me but i feel the same way lol im not even getting any interviews 🥲also ive watched your entire job hunting process as you uploaded the vids (clearly stopped 2 weeks ago bc busy 😭now im catching up again lol) so i hope u find a job (that you like) soon! and jiayou w the job search!

Congrats on getting shortlisted!! I find it hard to take last minute leaves in my IT job and would hope to find a more flexible team and where they wont disturb me while im on leave 😂 my conditions these days when job hunting are so different now... jiayou!! I enjoy watching your vlogs

First comment but regular watcher! I’ve have been job hunting since the start of this year as well, and have gotten ghosted multiple times or straight up got an offer with a significant pay cut. The challenge is real but jy for us both!
P.S. I ate the new Filet O Fish with my fiancée last week as well! Exact opposite for mine, the sauce was way too little and I left pretty disappointed 😢
That’s horrible!😢 I always thought it’s basic decency to close the loop with candidates who have gone for interviews. Sending you lotsa luck in your job search too!

@@yuldaze completely agree! I just think it’s only polite to close the loop :( and that had been the case when I entered the workforce years ago. I do wonder on what has changed the past couple of years.. Some of the ghosters have been really big companies as well, but it does also make me appreciate the good recruiters who do follow ups and still connect with you even if the offer/interviews don’t work out.
Completely agree about the macs as well! I usually go for the one outside amk hub but might find a better one soon!
I didn’t experience this the last time I job hunted 4y ago too! One of the reasons I heard was that recruiters themselves are getting retrenched. So the surviving ones are taking on extra load, struggling to handle every candidate’s recruitment process properly. Another reason is simply bc employers have upper hand given that demand > supply 😢

Your vlogs are so therapeutic :) As someone who moved out of the North a year ago into our own place, seeing places like Northpoint makes me miss it a little bit haha. But I definitely do not miss living there.

@@yuldaze I think it's because of how inconvenient it is, especially the long travel time 🤣 I also lived with my in-laws when I was in the North before we moved into our home and the location of the block wasn't near the MRT Station. I am enjoying my new place where there's ample bus options to take me anywhere and travelling in general takes 15 - 20 mins by bus or train.
Ah if it’s not near MRT then I can totally understand the pain! Glad to know your new place is so accessible🙂
@@yuldaze Yeah waiting for buses after taking the train really takes up a lot of time :( I agree it's very convenient now & we have a really nice hawker centre nearby (Old Airport)! We were very lucky when we got the BTO. I can save a lot of time on travelling. All the best with your job search - also, I wanted to share as someone who has had the opportunity to be part of the company's hiring process - don't be intimidated by the job requirements. At the end of the day, most companies value individuals with good soft skills and EQ. Hiring capable people is one thing, but keeping them is another challenge. Have faith in yourself and the skills you can bring to the table. We are rooting for you 🙂🙂

Many recruiters these days CMI. Random caller “I read your resume & you are a perfect fit”. After asking what the job entails, my reply “If you really read my resume you’d know that my skillset is totally NOT what you are looking for!!!!!” 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Job interviews are nerve-wracking! You have to sell yourself, staying focused & tell them what they want to hear! If they don't like something, you don't have a second interview.
