We just subscribed to your channel. We are writing our second book using Reedsy and I appreciate your tutorial. You have helped us out in so many ways. 🤩
@@codringtonherbs glad I could help. I've been using it to write my next two books. If there is anything you're curious about, feel free to ask. 😁 Good luck with your book.
Thanks for this. I tried for days just to get into writing without all the offers to give my money away. Special KUDOS for the Bracket Outlining. Now I can get to it.
Yeah I got a ton of ideas happening. Just yesterday I thought of a trilogy to my (not writtten yet) trilogy. I like the way you can archive the books after you have published them. Got to get a move on before i forget what they are about.
Nice! I feel ya, though. I forgot an awful lot, which is why I use the crap out of the planning boards in Reedsy. Good luck to you, and happy writing. 😁
Greetings, writers, sanctuary, I just came up on your video, as I have been researching writing and editing apps, and have come across reedsy. Did I understand you correctly that I am able to use the app for writing an e-book or for print in the free version? I am writing biographical memoir form of a novel. It is very exciting.
Good videos. As a professional trainer/teacher I would say you are a natural at tutorials. I would like to see one on the wrap up and formatting and design tasks done at the end. How much does reedsy help with that I wonder?
Thank you. I try to make them as easy as possible to follow. I actually have a video planned to do a step-by-step for exporting and uploading to Amazon. There's not a lot on the backend of formatting with Reedsy, but I also have a video planned for using Atticus to format a paperback and hardcover version of a book.
Hello. You can add images, but tables and other elements are unavailable...at the moment. I'm currently looking for something closer to magazine layouts that isn't overly difficult to use. Scribus, despite having a terrible writing platform, handles a lot of those kinds of things, and it's free to use. You might want to try there. Hope that helps. 🙂
Unfortunately, Reedsy doesn't have much in terms of making changes to the formatting of the book. It uses a small, medium, and large font size option and one of three font styles when exporting. It's good for those who want to write a basic novel, but not for those who need more customizable options. I show the options in this video, if you'd like to see what I'm talking about: ruclips.net/video/LenWS_MwkvE/видео.html I hope that helps.
Hiw do you remove the number 1 about chapter 1 . I don't want to title the chapter just want it to stay as chapter 1. How do I remove the number above it I want to use the drop cap format also
@@victoriatomlinson5379 In the formatting options, when you're ready to export your book, you can set Reedsy to hide the chapter numbers as well as enable drop caps. I hope that helps. 🙂
Not at the moment. It was one of the cons I pointed out recently, and Reedsy hinted at a few changes in the near future. So, I'm hoping a better formatting platform is on the horizon.
New Sub here , glad I found you. I noticed you mentioned it may take up to 2 years to write a book, with using Ready, are you a Self-publisher or Traditional Publisher?
Welcome! I am a self-published author. The reason it took 2 years to write Kingmaker and get it out was because of the sheer volume of stuff I do on a regular basis. Fury (the next book in the series) and the new one I'm writing with the Master Class should take considerably less time as I hope to have them both published in 2024. I know some authors (such as my mom) who have taken more than five years to work on their manuscripts. In reality, we're all quite different in our processes. :)
As far as I know, there isn't a way to check for the number of pages written directly in Reedsy. This is probably because formatting can vastly affect the number of actual pages put to print. Font size, book dimensions, spacing, and other variables will decide how many are printed. However, you can export your file at any time as a Print-Ready PDF, which will show you the number of pages.
Hey brother, quick question. I’ve imported my book with all chapters already placed. How can I get readsy to distinguish the chapters and separate them accordingly?🤔
I'm not sure if Reedsy automatically detects chapters, as I've only ever just used it to write. However, you can "Split" chapters, which will make Reedsy separate rate them. It's a few extra steps, but it should work. I'll make a video later today showing how, but essentially, put the cursor at the end of the written chapter and click the scissors icon on the right. Reedsy will then keep the text above where you "cut" and move the remaining text to its own chapter. Just repeat the process for how many chapters you've already written. I hope that helps.

You are very welcome. That's one of the highlights to using Reedsy...it's free and comes with everything you need to get started.
Good luck to you! 🙂
Excellent today I have asked you this exact question that you just answered here, so yes I’m gonna have Addit. I shall subscribe and like.
I’m excited to be introduced to your channel now. I appreciate the way you explain things, makes it very easy to follow. Subscribed!
Thank you very much. I hope I can continue to help in the future. :)

Hi, you mentioned the formatting is pretty simple, done for you. Does it let you include illustrations? or photos? or tables?

Scribus, despite having a terrible writing platform, handles a lot of those kinds of things, and it's free to use. You might want to try there. Hope that helps. 🙂
What type of formatting standards does Reedsy use? I’m wondering if they can be changed or adjusted depending on your market.

I may have missed it, but when you setup the book, is there a place to choose the format/size of book?

Author or profesional?
Not sure what you're asking. Me or the app? As far as I know, this is the only Reedsy app at the moment. As for me, I am both. :)
@@AsepppLemon I am both, actually. Been a freelance writer full-time since 2013 and published my first book in 2021.
