Fun, beautiful species. Good job in MIA. I’m in MD, but I recently went to FL and had a blast with those peas.

@@EngineeringHooksets when I lived in Panama I would use a small 3in. rebel with a small minnow on the back hook. I used a screw together 3 piece bamboo pole minus the top section. The center part was threaded 1/4-20 female and the speargun head screwed right into that canepole. That turned the pole into a gig so i could gaff the Peacocks as I caught them. Awesome fishing for a 10 year old.

Nice peacock bass man! Same thing happened to me while peacock fishing in Naples, a tarpon hit my shiner. My tackle was just too light and it broke off.

I didn't even know tarpon were in the canals. I probably would have ditched the 8lb leader and stayed tied on to braid if I knew it was possible to catch one. Thanks for watching!

Awesome! Honeymoon fishing! Congrats again. Great peacocks. What was that fish in the beginning, lurking about? Now go get a tarpon!

NICE work!! You've caught a Florida fish I haven't. Would've been cool if you hooked that Tarpon.

Good job but make sure to use circle hooks next time so they don't swallow the hooks

Strong like smallies.. but way more aggressive.. and after an intense fight.. I've seen people keep em out of water for 2 minutes easy for pics and etc.. and when released they shake it off like it was nothing.. the colors are vary in location.. the ones in alligator alley are crazy dark.. and resemble smallmouth
