    Awesome information, thank you 🙏🏼 Is cycling ok while dealing with this issue?

    • @sparkhealthyrunner
      @sparkhealthyrunner  4 дня назад +1

      Glad it was helpful! Cycling is variable. I find about 60% of my athletes with this condition tolerate it well but about 40% get increased symptoms with it. See how it impacts you. If it is irritating it then avoid it until you start to load the tendon and strengthen the other surrounding structures 👊🏼

    I'm gonna do exactly what you said. Avoiding speed and high hills. As I stopped training I think its time to run but not fast.

    This has been really interesting to me, I am not a runner, more of a garage gym enthusiast but a month ago I injured my PHT bending over to catch a chicken after a workout with a lot of burpees and deadlifts. No one has mentioned this but it get like an ankle sprain in my hip, it was so odd, but I have all the symptoms of PHT. I kept my activity up but lower intensity because I know that inactivity is ultimately worse. I’m looking to really get through this annoying injury.

    Thank you for making this information available. I have been treated for months. Including therapy, meds, and a cortisone injection, with no help. I am looking forward to getting better. Thank you! But I do have a question, can this cause pain behind your knee at times?

    • @sparkhealthyrunner
      @sparkhealthyrunner  21 день назад

      Typically not though you can have a distal hamstring Tendonitis without having upper hamstring tendon pain.

    I have persistent tightness in the upper right hamstring. I’ve been dealing with this for months. It’s not bothering my while running, but I feel it a lot when stretching. I don’t know what it is. I want to get rid of it.

      If stretching is not alleviating that sensation then stop stretching and start loading the structure with the exercises in the download here: learn.sparkhealthyrunner.com/pht

    I think I have this. Problem is I have a marathon in 2 mts. My pace has slowed by about 1 min per mile, can barely get to 10 miles, usually have to walk. I think I may not get to the start line😢

    I’ve done a few half marathons and 30k races this year. Also some mountain races. After completing a couple long training runs in the last few weeks in prep for my first marathon in 2 weeks time this mild pain has come up after my shorter runs that is consistent with PHT. I think it was down to overstretching after the run. My marathon is in just over 2 weeks. Is it recommended to run it and if so how best to go about it?

    • @sparkhealthyrunner
      @sparkhealthyrunner  2 месяца назад

      @@themindfuldj320 really depends on how irritable the tendon is right now. If your pain levels are less than a 4/10 and you start some of the loading exercises mentioned here: learn.sparkhealthyrunner.com/pht then the majority of my athletes can run the marathon without any negative consequences besides a couple of days of increased pain then back to baseline. If it is a hilly marathon course that may change the race strategy and if you are feeling pain > 5/10, I would recommend getting some personalized medical advice on a proper strategy for the marathon most likely utilizing a run/walk strategy or dramatically changing your goal pace.
