Possible issue could be oil pickup strianer could be choked, thereby unable to supply oil. For cars it can be accessed by draining engine oil and removing oil collector pan at the bottom. If the drained engine oil contains thick grease, definitely strainer is choked. This happens if engine cleaning chemical was added, releasing all the engine gunk into the oil pan.

I'm a mechanic. When you have problems with oil pressure gauge. Best way to check oil pump is working or not. Open the filler cap, and take it hand on filler point if splash of oil come on your hand. That's mean oil pump is working..
