You brought me back to my teens in this video! You absolutely nailed the look. I was born in 79, so the 90’s were my teen years. Revlon’s toast of New York was THE go-to shade of lipstick. Just found this channel. Tried to figure out my archetype.. saw the Kate Winslet romantic video. I feel like that is closer to my features. But this video is how I dress...
me *is natural flamboyant with a grunge aesthetic and also loves 80s soft fluffy hair* my hair *is pin straight and basically falls like a piece of silk fabric* "iS tHiS CasUaLlY TouSelEd??" also, two years ago i got as a christmas present a paiir of dr Martens combat boot in Stuewart and Black Watch Tartan... One Size too big, they are *literally* a pain to wear
Very interesting, and excellent explanation. Thank you for the video.

I absolutely LOVE the grunge asthetic, but I feel my body type and essence and don't really fit with it. I think grunge looks flattering mostly for Gamines, Naturals (pure and flamboyant) and maybe pure Dramatics, but how could the other types incorporate some subtle references to the grunge aesthetic in their clothing, just to honor it?
Where are you from? I noticed you say “aestetic” instead of “aesthetic” Also I grew up in the 90s and love this style too! Glad I came across this video

Pro tip- if you wear Doc Martens, make sure you understand lace code. If you ladder lace your boots with red laces, that can be interpreted as being pro- white supremacy. Another example: ladder lacing with lavender/purple laces is popular with the LGBTQ community. To be on the safe side, stick with neutral black laces.
It 👏 is 👏 NOT 👏 an 👏 AESTHETIC 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Grunge is beliefs, music, and if you want to, you can participate in the clothing part!! :) just letting you know, because basically nobody knows what actual grunge is!!!! They all think it’s just modernized tumblr grunge
yeah you are right when i think of plaid shirts and i washed out distressed denim and chucks that is absolutely in no way visually related to grunge ...
If you feel too self-conscious to wear it as yourself, tell yourself that you’re in character as another person playing the part. It creates enough separation & dissociation, initially, to help you to eventually BRIDGE that gap between the person you are and the person you wish to become. 😉
I've always loved grunge music and Am trying to start A grunge band no not post grunge but grunge grunge never died it just kept going but only cool people noticed it

Wow being dirt poor from 6-12 really makes me resent this aesthetic some of us really HAD to dress like this and got shamed for it...
I read somewhere that Pete Townshend (of The Who) made Doc Martens famous after he bought a pair of 1460's and wore them to a The Who concert.
FINALLY a grunge fashion video that gets it
lolz
it´s basic bitches styled like how we grew up
it´s literally what we are not about those people
I love these aesthetic videos.
But would be even better if you gave a go-to suggestion for each Kibbe type to think about how to put together a grunge outfit for their lines.
Fanny's LoA I’ve been going back and forth if I should I include them these videos or just do a separate video. My concern is that the video would be too long if I did the aesthetic breakdown and included a look for each type 🤔
@@elyssa_aesthetic Well, I'll be happy with a separate one too.
But making it super quick could possibly just take 7 minutes (30 seconds on each type). Just like "these long pants with this long lumberjack shirt would be great for a dramatic, and these shorts with the jacket would be great for a gamine" etc.
But however you prefer to do it is cool, I'm just so dumb that I feel like I need it pointed out to me.
Fanny's LoA haha you’re not dumb 🙈 But kk I see what you mean 🙃
Will happily watch a 30 minute video no question. 👍
@@elyssa_aesthetic I think including it in the same video would be fine, since your viewers might be hoping for/expecting it.
the fashion color we used in our hair in the early to mid 90s was Kool Aid 😁 I was born in 80, so I was in middle school/early high school and this is by far my favorite 90's aesthetic. Its fun trying to recreate the looks for a more mature person.
She didn’t even mention chuck taylors
Your description is so beautiful throughout the video
I was born in 89 too and have a smiley nirvana tat.
I couldn’t quite figure out what kind of style I have but after watching this, I 110% fall under this category lol.
Hi Alyssa lol im 38 born 1982 and i still wear the 90s grunge fashions. But i wear cool muted tones. No warm colours for me lol i have a vintage 90s grungy deep grey patched med backpack. Also deep hemp and cord handmade necklaces can be grunge and of course the olde school tattoo chokers. I add vintage pendents to them. Thanks so much
uh they are not 90´s they are 80´s and our 70´s childhoods
i am the grunge generation btw
Just found this channel. Tried to figure out my archetype.. saw the Kate Winslet romantic video. I feel like that is closer to my features. But this video is how I dress...
me *is natural flamboyant with a grunge aesthetic and also loves 80s soft fluffy hair*
my hair *is pin straight and basically falls like a piece of silk fabric* "iS tHiS CasUaLlY TouSelEd??"
also, two years ago i got as a christmas present a paiir of dr Martens combat boot in Stuewart and Black Watch Tartan... One Size too big, they are *literally* a pain to wear
I never knew that grunge was my dream aesthetic.. Gonna embrace it now :) Thanks
This actually helped me understand myself a bit. Great analysis, thank you!!
I was born on December 28 1998 and I love to wear rock and roll style it's my favorite style of fashion clothes
Wonder if these type actually listen to grunge?
OK I'm soooo glad I find this channel😍😍
Great! I love this aesthetic.
Evaluating how you look and dress from head to toe is the EXACT OPPOSITE of GRUNGE !
yeah and most of it is from our childhoods
literally decades of weraing the same
mfao
At the sentence: "All the way back to the early 1990s", I immediately burst into a cloud of ancient dust and blew away......
i love grunge ...
Very interesting, and excellent explanation.
Thank you for the video.
I absolutely LOVE the grunge asthetic, but I feel my body type and essence and don't really fit with it. I think grunge looks flattering mostly for Gamines, Naturals (pure and flamboyant) and maybe pure Dramatics, but how could the other types incorporate some subtle references to the grunge aesthetic in their clothing, just to honor it?
uh our generation and culture never even thought along those lines
@@ktiitfa2491 grunge never had "flattering" anyone in mind, I know :)
The 90’s grunge lip color was Mac Spice lip liner. Period.
love your videos 💜💕
ikram XD thank you!!
Ohhh this is really useful, thanks!
Grunge is more introverted compare to punk .
Where are you from? I noticed you say “aestetic” instead of “aesthetic” Also I grew up in the 90s and love this style too! Glad I came across this video
cute but grunge style came up in our childhoods
@@ktiitfa2491 what?
Woah! I can't believe you're 31!! I would've guessed like 23, 25 at most :O You are so blessed!! Also, these videos that you do are super helpful, I really appreciate them. I'm going to college in the fall & I kinda want to reinvent myself before I go, I'm thinking a wicked combo between grunge, rock n roll, and geek chic, from your videos of course lol. Anyway, just wanted to show your awesome channel some love! Hope you're doing well :)
lol
and think of the people from the cultures
Pro tip- if you wear Doc Martens, make sure you understand lace code. If you ladder lace your boots with red laces, that can be interpreted as being pro- white supremacy. Another example: ladder lacing with lavender/purple laces is popular with the LGBTQ community. To be on the safe side, stick with neutral black laces.
It 👏 is 👏 NOT 👏 an 👏 AESTHETIC 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Grunge is beliefs, music, and if you want to, you can participate in the clothing part!! :) just letting you know, because basically nobody knows what actual grunge is!!!! They all think it’s just modernized tumblr grunge
yeah you are right when i think of plaid shirts and i washed out distressed denim and chucks that is absolutely in no way visually related to grunge ...
@@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 uh it is related to grunge
but we already wore it as children
@@ktiitfa2491 Maybe you did, I certainly haven't until I was a teenager. But that's besides the point, there's still a clear aesthetic named grunge
How could you do this look as a classic?
I guess grunge fashion and listening to it is different
Yesssss
Rita Rodrigues 🤘🏻
11:53 Nope, it's not missing . Zoom in,and check out her right hand. 😁😁
Loved the video! Anybody else getting annoyed that she’s saying asdetic? Is that just me 😅
Wow fellow 31 year old! Yey! ☺️
😍😍😍
My style is grunge but im shy to were it lol idk why
If you feel too self-conscious to wear it as yourself, tell yourself that you’re in character as another person playing the part.
It creates enough separation & dissociation, initially, to help you to eventually BRIDGE that gap between the person you are and the person you wish to become. 😉
lol i´m the grunge generation
we have been wearing our styles since childhood
Play a drinking game for each time she says “es’T’etic”! Omg! It’s pronounced es’th’etic!
She said styling peeps. Maybe time to start addressing the needs of people your age? Just sayin.
what are you saying?
I've always loved grunge music and Am trying to start A grunge band no not post grunge but grunge grunge never died it just kept going but only cool people noticed it
