The days before “NFL Films.” It was a simpler time, and in many ways a better time. For one thing, all of us were much, much, younger than we are today.
It seems to me the 60s was a turning point for the League. It turned from an athletic sport of grit and toughness and slowly turned into the athletic entertainment show of showmanship and finesse that we see today
jim brown and bobby mitchell in the same backfield. mr inside and mr outside. i actually remember watching dick james and johnny o. i was only 8, but i loved them redskins.
Hilarious yet perhaps quite accurate when one of those NFL Films "Fabulous Fifties (VOLUME 2)" quoted an opponent describing how trying to tackle Dick James was like trying to grab a live trout with your bare hands.
Real football you say, if you call having no more than 4 or 5 black players on your team a unspoken rule by those great owners at the time Rooney Mara Halas and of course the Washington owner, the only owner who doesn't go along with it is Carroll Rosenblum Colts owner we had Lenny Moore Lenny Lyles Jim Parker Sherman Plunkett Milt Davis Johnny Sample Big Daddy Lipscomb and a few more which was great being you had 33 players and 7 on the taxi squad so our team was a 3rd black and of course we won 🏆 back too back championships in 58 and 59 put the NFL on the map new league in 1960 AFL anand
I don't know if you ever heard of the Cleveland Browns, but they were the first professional sports team with black players, and they did it starting in 1946 -- most of a year before the Brooklyn Dodgers played Jackie Robinson.

Hey, in 1959 I was so young I wasn't even alive yet.

12:35 "The Cards lost a cliffhanger to the Eagles in Minneapolis". Hmmm, why were they playing in Minneapolis?
The Cardinals were checking out other possible locations to relocate. The following season they moved from Chicago to St. Louis.
@@observer3232I figured it was something like that. The Vikings came to be in 1961.

Nice to see Eddie Lebaron...but not as a Deadskin !!
The game looked so much slower when white people were playing 😂😂
More than a few of those white people outran black defenders to score. 😂😂😂😂
It was slower, but the poor condition of the field in many games was also a factor.
