- Why does God allow pain and suffering in the world? Did God create suffering and evil? Why do bad things happen to good people?
There are two kinds of people who ask those questions: One, is the person who wants an intellectual answer. But for most people, it's because they're in the midst of suffering, and honestly, they don't really want an academic answer. They want Jesus. They want someone to be like Jesus to them. They want someone to put their arm around them and to weep with them, to encourage them, to pray for them; that's what they really need.
I'm careful when I answer this question not just to focus on the academics, but also on the personal side. There is hope and there is a Father who loves us in the midst of what we're going through.
God did not create evil and suffering. The Bible says God created and it was very good. But God, because He wanted us to be able to love him and love other people, had to give us free will. Because love requires a choice: either to love or not to love.
My kids when they were little had one of these Barbie dolls that had a string in the back and you pull the string and it would say, "I love you." Did that doll love them? No, of course not. It was a robot, a puppet. It was forced to say that...that's not "love."
In order for us to be able to love, we have to have the choice not to love. So, God gave us free will, and guess what? We chose not to love, we chose to walk away from God. We chose not to love each other.
I can take my hand and I can feed you if you're a hungry person. Or I can take a gun and shoot you. But it's a little disingenuous to blame God if I take the gun and shoot you. We have brought evil and suffering into the world.
Did God create suffering and evil? No, but He did create, through giving us free will, the potential for that to come into the world. But He didn't leave us in the midst of that without hope. He sent Jesus Christ into the world to redeem humankind and if we put our trust in Him, we know that God will open up heaven for us. There will be a day where there is no suffering, where there are no tears. God offers an eternity with Him in a perfect state without suffering.
God says, "I can take the difficulties of your life and I can draw good out of them." Romans 8:28, we like to throw that around, but the truth is that's a promise of Scripture. It's true.
God can draw people into the kingdom through suffering.
He can sharpen our character through suffering.
We can learn perseverance through suffering.
There are things that are positive that God can cause to emerge from the suffering in our lives. That's not to say that suffering is good. It's not, suffering is hard. But when we have trust in Christ, we know there is a future of hope.

One of the best explanation regarding the question of Do bad things happen for the good people? It touches my heart alot .You know we ever think that our luck is bad, why? Only me or my family has to face this and that. We are blaming about all those things which we have that is not good like we have house, dresses, phone etc still always we are comparing to others. That create unhappiness in our life. Therefore always one mantra keep in your heart that difficult situations come to make us strong as well as give us uncountable happiness.
Bad things happen to good people and to others because of bad karma in this life and in past life. Nobody can escape the law of karma. As you sow so shall you reap. The only way out is to have patience, ask God to forgive you and do good karma for others in daily life. Only scriptures will not help. Practical action is needed. Help the suffering whenever you can and slowly your bad karma will get erased. Best wishes. Counsellor.

I can accept bad things happen to good people because I understand my ability to understand an infinite God is impossible with a finite mind.
This might be another question. It just came to me today while pondering the bad things to good people. If there was no devil, would man create him?

this message hits me so hard because everything i did for God really saw me through it. my suffering was very real. It doesnt make up for what my suffering felt like, but it is very comforting to see this video

He talks about free will and bad people doing bad things to good people. But that doesn’t answer the question as to why good people get cancer. Why is it that my wife has to suffer with cancer today, after having cancer five years ago. a gentle soul who will do anything for anyone, and she may have a Terminal illness. Why does God allow that to happen is my question.

My best answer is that cancer is an unnatural byproduct of our modern society and diet and environment, which was created by man, huge evil corporations, cancer has increased so much in the last 100 years it isn't natural.
Having said that, I'm not sure life is supposed to be a blissful existence, I think it is supposed to be a struggle, sometimes with unimaginable pain and suffering, and disgustingly unfair circumstances, because it is a test to see if you still do the right thing even when everything is taken from you or all those around you are doing the wrong thing.

Because of diet and their parents genes it's not Gods fault you fool, cancer doesn't appear because of magic, everything is scientific, God gave humans free will to eat shit, this is the best answer for people like you
Just like how good can’t exist without bad, there has to be a life with suffering so in the next life there is none. If there is all good, evil doesn’t exist. So there has to be a life (this one) without suffering so in the next life there will be no suffering

Why did gawd give my stepfather Alzheimers after which his mind erased 30 years of my mom and siblings we were devoted Catholics then his mind went back to his first marriage and was calling us different names it was devastating for my mother hours and hours of counseling then my sister has 2 bad miscarriages then I’m diagnosed with 5 serious health conditions yes I’ll be surprised if I make it till the end of this year I never abused my body I took care of myself as best I can if your wondering if I became atheist yes I did I am I see drug addicts with all this health and energy around my area and I ask why why does gawd hey thrill out of seeing a good person suffer over and over again, I’m sure your a good person with a good bill of heath how about all of the sudden your rained with all the issues I’m going through. Nice try. Among other things I know 2 grooms that became paraplegics diving into pools on their honeymoons. No bad guy. It's pretty difficult to find any love or silver lining in that. I wouldn't be too proud if that happened on my watch.
