***** what I mean is only that Med II factions were named only England, Spain, France etc. Instead of making more Kingdoms, Duchies like here in this case. CA improved on this field as historical depiction of factions :).
***** Yeah CA doesn't bother to change VO and music that's the problem, UI is alright especially new unit cards, buildings and technology looks really good.
I enjoyed this episode, but here are a couple of lessons of how to pronounce correctly the capital of the Lombards: it's not Pàvia, but Pavìa; Also please...stop saying "SpoleNto"! There is no "N" there! It's just Spoleto. Ooooh...now I feel better and lighter. ^^
+Glegionar actually in Medieval 2 it is called Pavia like Jackie says it. Probably it is Pavia like you say it, in italian or whatever language you speak
+Glegionar Keep in mind that in this time period, its not yet the Lombards, we know from the later middle ages, but still the Langobards. The Germanic influence and population was still there and the Germanic languages are emphasizing the first syllable like Pávia. So technically it is correct - or lets say not wrong - to pronounce it that way, since the people of these countrysides still partially spoke different languages due to their different ancestry .
666Templar666 It would have been true if these towns were made by the Lombards (or, as you say correctly, langobards. Longobardi, as we say), but these towns where already there when they came, and the pronounce of towns hasn't changed in our history (unless it's been changed the name itself). ;)
Hey Jackie, great video. Remember you can click on your pre-existing statesman and find out whether they have 'Landowner', 'Leader' or 'Merchant' as one of their skills and not have to pay to install a new statesman as Governor. I normally don't build until turn 2 either if I can set an edict giving cheaper Construction costs.
There is an error in the map, in my opinion during this age in south of italy, Cosenza (Konsentia) is most important than Kroton. Bitterly disputed between the Saracens and the Lombards, the town was destroyed, then rebuilt around 988; only to be ravaged again in the early 11th century. In the attempt to escape the devastation, the population left the town and sheltered on the surrounding hills where they built some small hamlets (still denominated casali). By the first half of the eleventh century, Lombard Calabria became a feudal dukedom of the Normans, with Cosenza as capital. The town soon rebelled against the rule of Roger Guiscard and was only recaptured after a long siege. Subsequently, under the Hohenstaufen rule, the town became the seat of the Court of Calabria (Curia Generale). The Emperor Frederick II had a particular interest in the town: he promoted construction and economic activities, organising an important annual fair.
+ianmartin82 Not really true, you are talking about a period which is in the future compared to the time this campaign is set. In this period, Cosenza was an ordinary town, while Kroton was actually very important, because it was the first Byzantine stronghold against the lombards (so, between Kroton and Cosenza, I really believe they've chosen good at putting Kroton). ;) Also, I've never listened of Cosenza as the capital of the Robert Guiscard's Duchy, that's really wrong! Rather Melfi, in Lucania, was the actual capital first of the County, than of the Duchy! ;) (but again, these are events that take place in the future compared to this campaign, so it's not really important :) ). EDIT: I made a little research and the capital of the County was Melfi, then, when the domain became a Duchy, still Melfi was the capital who was switched to Salerno after this town was taken and, in the end, when the Kingdom of Sicily was created, the capital was moved to Palermo.
quick question how do i solve the unhappiness quickly to me thats a problem and well you'd expect a domain as big as those of the lombards to have multipule armies from the get go
Thx the video Jackie ! can u next prezentation one sea battle ( seeing the - maybe - new ships ( i hope CA modelled new, and not use late roman typ....) And one walled sieges , really want see one medieval fort or tovn with battle. many thanks!
+Hiclipucli I can not show any more till the 10th. I think they said that the ship are pretty much the same due to the fact that they didn't really change in the 300 years between this and Attila
As far as I can see, units are really disappointing (clones war with orrible unrealistic colors). It will require a great work of modding. WTF always the same story
Nice video. I have an issue that has been bugging me. In order to achieve the "Kingdom of Italy" objective, it states that you need to own such and such province. Does that mean that I have to conquer these provinces or will subjugating (turning them into my puppet states) work aswell?
It's either conquer those provinces or subjugate them. To be honest, the Kingdom of the Lombards' faction trait makes it more beneficial to subjugate factions. Which is ridiculously counterintuitive.
+hermanPla Usually when you see an endturn it shows the playable factions first. I saw Emirate of Cordoba(Muslims), Mercia(Anglo saxons), Westphalia(Pagan Saxons!!!), The AVARS(Nomad pagans), Austuria(Spain) and carloman.
Maybe spend a bit more time editing, like play through, talk away, then re record your thoughts after you have finished, cause you come off a bit confused all the time.
flaming shot is for cavalery
heavy shot for armored units
whisttle shot for charging units
normal shot for archers
love the playable factions, definitely has medieval feel to it. Duchies, Kingdoms etc. and that's how Medieval II should be.
+Quingu89 A little late complaint for that game?
***** what I mean is only that Med II factions were named only England, Spain, France etc. Instead of making more Kingdoms, Duchies like here in this case. CA improved on this field as historical depiction of factions :).
Quingu89 Yeah, though immersion and history breaks when all these kingdoms and duchies yell "We conquer for Rome!"
+Quingu89 but then fucking it completely up with the sounds. the UI, Music etc etc.. its not Medievalerish at all..
***** Yeah CA doesn't bother to change VO and music that's the problem, UI is alright especially new unit cards, buildings and technology looks really good.

I'm so hyped for this. If they fix some of the Attila "bad things" they could make this amazing
24:10 I want to see if Charlemagne wants to trade.....says right below his name "dislikes LOMBARDS " LOL
all units look the same... great
I'm so going to restore the Roman empire with the Lombards.

+Alan Harris Thanks for the info :)
I "liked" this episode the second you said, "Don't worry, we'll have a battle this episode."
+PlasmaCore Gaming We got to have a battle

+TheHawkeye0725 It sure is !
I hope they will fix the audio for the release, it would be kind of annoying hearing non-roman swordsmen say "legio parati" like in Attila.
Thx the video Jackie ! can u next prezentation one sea battle ( seeing the - maybe - new ships ( i hope CA modelled new, and not use late roman typ....) And one walled sieges , really want see one medieval fort or tovn with battle. many thanks!

How is the performance compared to Atilla, any better??
+Jason Stanton I have not really noticed much change
Sanitation. Get it sorted.
+eVeNmOrEiNsAnItY Yep I neglected that this episode.
A lot of these new features are copied from Knights of Honor (war weariness, renaming faction etc)
WHAT?? CANNOT BE! HOW DARE THEY?!
So Lombards=Sassanids?!
What's with all the Spolento, it is clearly spelt and pronounced Spoleto.
Still hoping for the saxon pagans of north Germany. But ofcourse andalusia and a anglo saxon faction will come first.
+EPİK OYUN Still nomads and still pagans, being turks doesn't invalidate the rest
+Valakhan :D avars weren't pagans...
Oğuz Cansel Yes they were.
Can you give any source for that?
