Year 3 as a licensed Esthetician and never had a job. Never practiced as a solo Esty bc I don't have the money. After 2 years I got discouraged bc I received so many no's over not having experience and gave up on applying. I wasn't going to renew my license and have kinda lost my motivation to keep going. Still don't have the money, connections or platform but year 3 & I'm working other jobs and trying to build a platform online surrounding esthetics. Hopefully it works out. Wish me luck y'all

Good luck girl! My esthi instructor says to apply as a receptionist/admin assistant to the salon or spa you’d like to work and grow at. Though it’s not an esthi position and likely a pay cut, the idea is that they’ll see how good you are and then maybe train you as their esthi. It’s always worth a shot! 🙏🏻

If this is something you truly want, don’t give up!! Consider working in the city or town over even if it’s a little more of a drive(if you haven’t done that already). That’s what I’m doing. I started working for a spa franchise two years ago as my first esthe job and while it’s not ideal, I’ve built a decent clientele and reputation with the peeps! The goal isn’t to stay at the franchise but just to get that experience is fantastic. Also, I agree with what the other replier said. We’ve had two of our front desk staff become service providers and they’re successful! Keep trying and have faith!

I’m a licensed nail tech and I feel the same way. I was a spa receptionist last year to start but then half the day I did nails. But my boss gave me a bunch of empty promises to help me grow as a nail tech and just used me mostly to be a receptionist. Then I had to quit my job bc I had to get an abdominal hysterectomy due to having big fibroids in my uterus. My boss wouldn’t take me back either so I have been broke and unable to practice let alone buy nail supplies. I still want to go to esthetician school myself and be successful in the beauty industry but the struggle is real. I have also considered giving up my nail tech license but I also worked hard to be licensed too. Don’t give up!! You are not alone ❤

Thank you for sharing this. I know there are others who are feeling and experiencing what you are going through. remember this will be a powerful part of your story! If you are passionate about this industry, Keep looking, mentally showing up, and continue to grow your knowledge! I’ve had a lot of coaching calls with ppl who walked away from this for 5-10 years even because of life reasons and the same struggle. This industry isn’t going anywhere and have faith the right thing will present itself for you if you stay persistent. It’ll make sense later on. I’ll continue to pray for you and I hope to hear an update with good news sometime soon. Start saving for that studio (even if it’s $10 here and there), keep applying, stay connected and don’t quit. Xoxo

@@kindakyeee thank you! I’m thinking about taking that advice and giving that another go. At some point I really just wanted to be in the vicinity of esthetics and took many receptionist jobs that I all loved so much but at some point like I said I lost my way. Thanks for the support!!!

As a dual licensed Esthie, who only had 2 weeks of practice during Covid, no real practice, I was discouraged but I started studying again bc I prayed to restart my business. Well I went to get my hair done and spoke about me being an Esthie and wanting to get my business off the ground. I’ll be opening my spa & business in July! Do not give up! Stay true to it! If it’s for you, it will be. (I believe it’s for you) 😊

Great video! Wish I saw this when I applied to over 60 jobs and took 6 months to get a job lol Another thing I did was network! I wasn’t embarrassed and told people I was looking and when I volunteered on my daughter’s field trip, another mom ended up being an esthetician! She invited me to a skincare training where I networked and ended up getting an interview somewhere that was about to post they were hiring and I was the first person to interview!🎉
