"Podolyanochka" is a diminutive and affectionate form of the word "Podolyanka" (a resident of Podol, a historical area of Kyiv).
"Molodesenka" is a diminutive and affectionate form of the word "moloda" (young)
This song is a modernized version of the traditional folk song, during which the girls in the spring led round dances around the "podolyanochka" girl, who repeated the actions the girls sang about. She kept the original motif, but the text and arrangement were somewhat modernized.
