I've stopped collecting over priced new issues that do nothing to enhance my collection.
There's nothing "special" about a 75th Birthday and yes limited to 750 you might get a 10%+ return in time. But with grading you need to sell at around £950 to make 10%.
I'll stick to Sovereign's where I get a far higher return.

Given the pricing for strike on the day, they should give you the fancy box. Maybe have the wood varnish in a matte finish, to differentiate it. heh.

Thank you for sharing. It is great that the SOTD sovereigns are now being released in a unique form though I think a privy mark of some sort (maybe ‘75’) to distinguish it as the Kings Birthday Sovereign would have made it more special. 🍻

I guess they thought that having the uncrowned portrait rather than the crowned portrait, would distinguish it enough

@@Numistacker Will or do you get the SOTD sovereigns graded for your own collection? What are your thoughts on grading these sort of coins? Greatly appreciate all your commitment to your channel and sharing with us. All the best. 🍻

I'm not into sovereigns, but I have decided to go for the 007 series. I take on board your comments about investment Vs collecting but, nonetheless, I hope these do well. My thinking is they will - for the following three reasons . . .
    1. Unlike, say, the Star Wars series, 007 is both quintessentially British - as well as being a world famous fictional character. The point being that, all other things being equal, collectors will choose these coins over other 007 themed coins from other mints.
    2. The three-coin James Bond set from 2020 has sold out and appears to have done quite well. This bodes well for this series IMO, which I think will eclipse the earlier one because it's bigger and its scope is much broader and better defined. The former coins didn't have much in common and the designs were average at best. Just my opinion, obviously!
    3. IF (big if I know) the next six coins equals or improves on the first design, then I think their popularity will gain traction. My understanding is that all the coins in the series will feature the gun barrel border - which is great - as it's a simple and obvious graphic device to unify the set.
