Exploring Sheffield with an FPV drone!

- Here it is. The video of the greatest city in the world...... SHEFFIELD.
Sheffield is my hometown and has so much to offer and so many iconic locations. This video took a lot of planning and a long time to film.
Small drones and model aircraft below 250g, C0 or C1 class can be flown in residential, recreational, commercial and Industrial areas. You must always fly safely though and you should not fly in a manner that can be unsafe or a danger to people.
Residential areas include: cities and towns, villages, housing estates and schools.
Every location in the video had to have perfect conditions to fly. Wind speed had to be below 8mph. I had to wait for a lot for people to disperse in places as safety came first. At sub 250g you are permitted to fly close to uninvolved people and in built up areas and cities and towns. Over flight is also permitted. But obviously reducing the risk by flying when areas are quieter is always best practice. Each flight was planned and all flights were less than 2 minutes per flight.
I risk assessed all locations and some I did not fly due to power cables or crowds of people and gatherings. A spotter was used throughout and I hold an A2 CofC with public liability insurance up to 12 million pounds.
I used a Protek 25 pusher with a naked go pro 8 and many other modifications to get the weight down to below 250g. I even had to strip the vista naked. The end weight was 248g and I am so impressed with the protek. Every flight went perfectly as planned. I do not plan to do another video like this as epic as it was I always think its best to tread as carefully as possible and to not leave anything to chance.

That Protek looked pretty solid on the dives, much more capable than I'd expected. Nice video that shows some of the best bits of Sheffield pretty well

Awesome Nate, I was in Peace Gardens when you came with drone, I came up to you with my Hi Viz Drone pilot vest on, wanted to chat with you but you must have thought with seeing my Hi Viz jacket I was an official or something. Plus you was in a rush, maybe we can meet up, and do some filming. I live in City Lofts in centre of town

Yep! it can only dive well when theres no wind. It just gets pulled off course with a slight gust. Been wanting to make a video like it for ages

@@alexredhair Thanks dude. I really enjoy the cinewhoop. I set 3 profiles on a switch so I can have recuded rates and if the wind does pick up mid flight. I just flick it into full power mode and it can handle it. Have to use 650mah batteries though to stay below 250g so dont get long. Managed all the flights in less than two mins per flight so It was all good. Small batteries make you plan the flight better
@@STEELCITYDRONEPILOT yeah limited flight time could be issue unless well planned out with accurate flying. Or a ton of batteries. Getting up that tower surprised it reaches even. Class video. Thanks for the tips on rate switch will have to look into that.
@@alexredhair Its pretty fast at 100% throttle. Gets up the tower in seconds at full throttle. I have 8 batteries and depending how you fly You can just about squeeze 5 mins from one if youre just flyiing low in no wind. only a 4s though but its one of my favorite drones. Really relaxing to fly and dive compared to the nazgul

Yeah FPV is just awesome. Mavic has its place but I much prefer fpv

Thanks man! Until my go pro 10 comes back I'm stuck with flying the cinewhoop. So I did what I could with it. Has to be almost zero wind or it won't fly without being taken 😂

Thanks dude. Sometimes if I'm sat with the goggles on. Spotter has to talk to them till I land usually though if I'm in the zone 😂

Can't get arrested for flying a sub 250g drone in a built up area. The main rules are just safe flights and no flying over gatherings of people who can't get out of the way if they need to. I didn't get any Karen's in any filming. Just wait and wait for minimal amounts of people really. Keep a decent distance from them it's not bad really. Also each location I flew less than 2 minutes. Just planned the shots I needed. Batteries don't last long too on this drone. So it's fly up. Get the shot quickly and come back to land 👍🏻
@@STEELCITYDRONEPILOT cool, it's easy to forget about the 250g rule lol. I dont fly with anyone else, so I try stay as far away from people and building as possible lol. Save anyone slapping me round the head whilst I'm flying 🤣
👍🏻 Yeah it's just like people gave drones a bad rep. When used properly they're amazing things. Just the odd one now and then that ruins it for the rest of us.
