"That the truth is the way" George Fox. Not my truth, but the truth.
It was good hearing Jack Bogle speak. I didn't know he was a friend.
I've jotted down the values. I struggle with those too. Am praying and looking to the Holy Spirit to work in me and through me in proper expression. I've been thinking a lot about the early friends too. How adamant, unabashed and passionate they were in pursuing purity of the truth. (They knew that their God is a jealous God.) The breaking away from religious institutions which they feel have corrupted the truth and speaking out in the midst of heavy persecution. It's interesting to see how they expressed love and truth and is something I grapple with too. But one of the things that struck me is that love is not agreement. If it had been, they would not have separated from the world, the catholic church and mainstream protestant then. There's always this tension of reconciliation and separation and we need divine wisdom to show us how to navigate according to the truth.

But why refer to "commands from the New Testament" as "values of the Quakers"? :)
