Given 10s of thousands of different parts that has to be an inventory nightmare. I was in charge of a few thousand parts and that was hard enough. My hat's off to those men and women 😊

I've built Fokker 100 and 70's a long time back. This dismantling just tears a hole through my soul! I know all planes need to face their end at some point, but.....ouch
Edit: Damnit, this is worse then watching a funeral! To any of the planes I worked on: I put my heart into each and every one of you. Thank you for your service

I am only an o.a.p newbie avigeek and it breaks my heart to see these magnificent aircraft cut up, or left to rust. I love a particular West Atlantic boeing 737-3Y0(sf) G-JMCT, a 33 yrs old jet that was once a passenger plane and has worn dufferent liveries and companies, and converted to a cargo plane, so he was given a new lease of life. Maybe they could do more of that to these than cut them into pieces, as I believe all things, including them, are sentient and have their own personalities. Your post made me cry hon, because I feel the same towards these beautiful aircraft, all of them I am in awe as to how they flyxx bless you for feeling deeply for your part of their creations. Best wishes. Michelle xx

wow, you look at the bundles/wiring harnesses and all the parts that go into making a flyable aircraft and it is absolutely amazing that everything hooks up perfect and works like a charm....quite a feat for engineers and the mechanics that keep them flying.

An FYI, those jets you see at Davis Monthan at the 5:28 mark were not dismantled. They intentionally chopped the frame of those B-52s with a huge portable guillotine as part of a nuclear reduction pact with the USSR.

I’ve watched & enjoyed videos that discussed the 737 Combi that serviced remote airports such as Barrow AK and the mines and oil fields of Northern Canada. These jets that include side doors may be configured through the use of various to transport freight, vehicles and passengers. What a great concept. The last video I watched mentioned the Combi jets were being phased out. Too bad!

*_Former Boeing.... some great 'deals' on used A-380's and B-747's..._*
Some aircraft never die, their 'parts' are re-used similar to Organ Transplants. There are lots of 'certified' used parts around the globe. But buyer beware... there are 'uncertified' used parts as well. It is possible to track used parts by Part Number. Usually the cheapest price comes with many liabilities. Crashes caused by cheap used parts are common and cheaters are prosecuted for murder.
*_Boneyards for non-working aircraft are in high demand...._*

If they 747 had been designed in the late 90s it would also have fallen to the same fate as the A380. The 380 was too late to the market. Its nothing to do with the aircraft quality. It is an excellent aircraft. Stating that it was " French" is irrelevent....and ignorant.
