I do the same with accessory movements and people tell me I train so differently! My theory is the same as yours, I like to start with the major specific movements and then incorporate the accessories to build the weak areas which may get missed during the workout or on a bigger scale. I get a lot of former athletes who want to run a marathon, but they come to me with low back or knee issues. I love your videos, I really enjoy the refresh and affirmations that you provide. :) Thanks!
Simple seems to be best. I've had the most success by following this with my squats: Week One: 20, 18, 16, 14 reps Week Two: 18, 16, 14, 12 reps (same or heavier than previous week) Week Three: 16, 14, 12, 10 (Same or heavier...) Hit different rep ranges and weights progress each week pending how you feel.
Love the content man! Increasing the TUT is a great way to still let the muscles work without pain in the connective tissues. Been dealing with connective tissue pain for almost one year now and finally found a solution which still let's me squat and try to fix the issue at the same time!
Good shit, can't wait to see the following Q&A vids! Are they all gonna be fitness related questions or do you plan on adding life/college/business/etc Qs?
What do you think about training at RPE 8-9 for lighter variations of the main lifts? I am doing some barbell medicine programming, and they use a lot of RPE 9 for exercises like pause/pin squats, pin/close grip bench, pause deadlifts, etc. They seem to tend to keep their main work at 4-6 reps, around RPE 8, while variations are anywhere between 3-10 reps, RPE 6-9
Great topic! What if you haven't started competing yet, are intermediate, should I do an off season program all the time or is it good to use a peak program now and then?
How do these Q&A’s work? Do we comment or DM? I commented a question because I’ve tried to DM you but I know your inbox is probably full. Hope my question is answered in a later video. Thanks and good video man
Darion Owens DM! If you commented I probably missed it. I get a lot of likes and comments and it pushes them down my notification feed. I had everyone DM me on Instagram after I announced the q&a
Hello Brendan, appreciate your work, good videos and great information! A quick question. How do I maximize my recovery? Im currently having a pretty rough time in my life and my recovery is suffering. I already lowered total volume, minimized stress to the point I can and upped calories from -500 back up to maintenance. Is there something else I could try? Thanks alot :)
Definitely the best information provider out there! Great video! And thanks for answering my question bro 👊🏻

Your message about spending time in a caloric surplus on IG is so on point! You gotta give a little. Awesome video too.
AceYourFitness I’m glad you liked both! Thank you!
