That's what this guitar is built for! Yamaha lovers will love it, although I'm not sure if there is much more here with this FG over the L Series. With that said, I do think it sounds as good as anything else (Martin, Gibson and Taylor, as this is what the majority of peers will compare this to). And of course, non-yamaha lovers will continue to hate!
I've had my FG 9 M for 3 months. I have a '94 HD-28 that has been my main guitar since I bought it new. It is a fine instrument, but IMO the FG 9 is a better guitar. The dynamic range is excellent; I don't have to play it "hard" to get volume. For those that express all kinds of negative opinions, if you have the opportunity, play one before you post a comment. I think you will be surprised.
@@tedwasielewski9641 I'm dying to get my hands on one to try....but as of right now, no dealers here in Newfoundland, Canada are going to order any for their showroom. I'll get my hands on one eventually, but I doubt it will be this year. Glad to hear yours is competing well against the 28, and it should based on specs and build quality.
@@stevebernard221 I bought mine through Sweetwater, sight unseen. Typically I would not do that but I decided it was worth the risk and Sweetwater has an excellent return policy. I couldn't be happier with the guitar. It is outstanding.
@@tedwasielewski9641Some playing it, it won’t matter, because their friends will only be impressed with something that says Martin on the headstock. Sad existence, but this unfortunately is the way a lot of these supposed guitar players think.
Damn. At the end the playing was so fast and clean I had to make sure the video wasn't fast forwarded! I've never even heard of this guy, but that kicked ass.

I have the fg5 and if the fg9 is better even a little than the 5 its up there with any price range
