I think in the shooting star they were on their home planet and departed for Earth from there. You can see in this video that they passed Jupiter in the beginning before landing on planet Earth. Even the comeback announcement pointed to UFOs, so I guess XG officially arrived from another galaxy 😂

Korea and Japan societies are pretty anti-gangs/mafia/yakuza so I do agree it could be one of the reasons why the didn’t spell it right. Same applies to Itzy’s Mafia I think. Another (and more fun) reason possible is obviously pun for girl giving and maybe “have no Is (eyes)” in the spelling.

Gangs who use the 6-point star to represent themselves use a V in place of A to show disrespect to the 5-point star. Basically turning the 5-point down. You can find many reasons why people would use a V instead of an A, the most common being a stylistic choice, but the gang one made more sense for the girls and the meaning of their song. All in all, A and V are very common letters in structure so you can use them esthetically if you want. I guess that was the reason as well, it's like using the Greek letter Ξ as an E for esthetics because phonetically it doesn't make sense to be read as an E.

The acronym of XG is actually for Xtraordinary Girls. They're a Japanese girl group based in South Korea, all of their members are Japanese two of them being half. And for the record, XG prefers not to be called a K-pop act but a “global girl group.”
